for my pre-Christmas cut and colour, and I hate it! I am too wet to go and tell them, so what can I do >
Main problem is that they used too much bleach, or left it too long. I usually look honey-coloured, now I am brassy blond. Is there something I can buy in Boots to fade it a bit???

I wouldn't tinker with it, I'd go and make then sort it out. It's too risky for a DIY job IMO.

Dropdeadfred · 19/12/2008 13:27

phone them (if you can't face going back in) and ask them if they can recommend anything to tone it down.

But to be honest if you're not happy YOU shouldn't be paying for extra stuff to sort it out, they should do it free of charge.

honestfriend · 19/12/2008 13:27

go back- ask for a rinse - semi permanent- to tone it down. You shouldn't accept. something that is not what you asked for. Or, a complete overhaul!

GeorgeAndTimmy · 19/12/2008 13:38

Oh, I know . I just hate, hate, hate going. I am prepared to be assertive in most areas of my ife, but put me in that hairdressing chair and I turn into a pathetic wretch. I cannot go back, nor could I bear to phone up and criticise (although I KNOW I should ) what they have done.

I just want to slink into Boots and sort it out

I CAN'T!!!! - I've just sat there and said "umm, yes, lovely, thanks" to the person who made me look like this!

PortAndStilton · 19/12/2008 13:46

Your alternative is to go to another hairdresser's and ask them to fix it (you'd be paying then, though). If you try DIY tinkering it's likely to end in tears.

strange colours may appear" YIKES!
I think I would rather risk DIY tinkering (it is just me, or does that sound rude ) than face going into another butchers salon

OP posts:
pucca · 19/12/2008 13:51

All you need to say is it looked ok in the salon, but once you got out into daylight you realised it is too bright so could they put a toner on, don't worry about it.

Just don't put anything on yourself, its too risky, especially if it is bleach as it will "grab" any colour put on.

GeorgeAndTimmy · 19/12/2008 13:56

Pucca - good idea. I still can't do it though .
Surely just a darker-blond-clour-DIY-thing couldn't do much damage? Could it?

OP posts:
bobblehat · 19/12/2008 13:56

Go back and tell them if it's not what you asked for.

My sil is a hairdresser and I know she would be really upset if someone went away with something they hated.

GeorgeAndTimmy · 19/12/2008 14:08

Bobblehat - that is nice of your sister. However, the place I went to did my hair how they wanted it, not me. I realise now it is the same colour as the three 'stylists' who were in there this morning... GAH!

Is there anyone brave enough to recommend something I can buy???

OP posts:
jumpingbeans · 19/12/2008 14:11

oh i am sorry, but i pmsl, i thought someone said get a bobblehat, then noticed that was the poster, oh my, i am wiping coffee of the screen, sorry, sorry, sorry

GeorgeAndTimmy · 19/12/2008 14:25

southeastastra · 19/12/2008 14:29

GeorgeAndTimmy · 19/12/2008 14:32

Silver shampoo? What is it? Can you get it in Boots

jumping beans - I liked your post. Made me laugh, and even consider the idea for a second

Try Head and Shoulders - the dandruff one.

Head and shoulders - are you serious? Why? I ask in all innocence as this is not my field of expertise, as you may have noticed....

"surely just a darker-blond-colour-DIY-thing couldn't do much damage? Could it? "

Yes, it could go a greenish shade. You do not want to be messing about with it this close to Christmas. You have to go back.

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 19/12/2008 14:36

I think H&S strips colour out. I don't think it would help with bleached colour.
