even though dc hasn't actually arrived yet (overdue),i got an eternity ring for popping out dd (thinking my fanjo was on fire mmight have upped the spend limit on that one!!! ) but as we are officially skint i had mentioned previously to dh jewellery and the like was a no no now for our spending, but today when we were out mooching rould the shops, dh picked out a lovely huge slouchy radley bag, in a sort f pale petrol blue colour with a pale brown mustardy thick soft handle to sit on you shoulder!

Very yummy and i'm very happy with it! But can't have it til dc arrives!

It even came in a nice big boxy bag (not it's fabric protective bag but a radley shopping bag!!!!!
So, what did your dh get you to show their eternal thanks for popping out your dc?

i didn't get anything big or special, but DP did keep me furnished with tasty snacks, magazines and pile ointment when i was on the postnatal ward, all of which were much appreciated. he also left me in no doubt how proud he was of me and how awesome i am, so that was good

i got him a print by an artist we both like - it turned up the day we brought our son home and thus made me look extra clever and thoughtful

When she says she has seen me in fetching jammas, she more accurately means that she was spying on me through the keyhole.

I am still waiting for my 'birth' gifts. DS is nearly 9 and DD is nearly 5.
I think DHs that do this are probably all tossers and the wives are all hen pecky or needy or both.

there is a big difference between being feminie and being 'girly' SOH. I am feminine but not girly...

Sunshinemummy · 15/10/2008 11:36

For DS I got a diamond and platinum eternity ring from Tiffany. For DD I got a Marc Jacobs bag. Am very lucky - DP is incredibly thoughtful.

I think Hatwoman and Swedishmums' presents are lovely

DH hasn't bought me "having a baby" presents but the Christmas after we'd had a late m/c and an all-round horrible year, he bought me a beautiful eternity ring. And it really did put a smile on my face as it made me think of him picking it out and planning it all in the hope of showing me how sorry he was about the way things had worked out.

I think if I'd been given it after having a live baby it wouldn't have meant so much to me - I'd have been too busy gazing at the baby to be interested in a ring (and it wouldn't have fitted on my sausage fingers!).

I got nuffin. Am going to print out thread and leave in strategic places round the house.

Eniddo · 15/10/2008 11:42

lol at 'thoughtful'

francagoestohollywood · 15/10/2008 11:48

A big fat nothing. A few months after dd (our second) was born he got me an antique ring, mainly because his parents forced him to do so.

chinchi · 15/10/2008 11:52

Nintendo DS

Oliveoil · 15/10/2008 11:54

BroccoliSpearedThroughTheHead · 15/10/2008 11:56

I got a pretty ring a few months later but nothing expensive at all. More to mark the occasion than a thank you (eww).

Love Swedish~Mummy's bracelets.

Oliveoil · 15/10/2008 11:58

I think I would prefer to buy myself some jewellery anyway as it is personal taste

he could ge me some bling that would make me go ewwwwwww

girlandboy · 15/10/2008 12:00

I got a newspaper when I had both of mine!

You know........a little keepsake to show the dc's what was happening on the day that they were born.

EdwardCullenCanHaveMysoul · 15/10/2008 12:01

Sweet F.A.
There's lovely for you

Lizzylou · 15/10/2008 12:03

Agree food was a huge thing, both times DH went shopping in the early days post birth and got me Pate, blue cheese and brie, which I'd craved through those long 9mths. It was eaten with relish (despite the fact I was looking like a whale!).
Actually SIL bought me a bottle of champagne as well, so that went down well.

KatieDD · 15/10/2008 12:05

I got a DC and a pram to put it in, was very happy with that.

kt14 · 15/10/2008 12:05

i got a Greggs Egg sandwich and a packet of walkers crisps. Exactly what I wanted.

Later followed by a Gucci bracelet for ds1 and a Tag watch for joint 30th and ds2 (plus another egg sandwich). Not too bad really.

Bluebutterfly · 15/10/2008 12:21

Didn't think dh would get me anything (never really thought about it tbh) but he was really great at the birth and was very sweet and gentle to me afterwards (the whole labour was quite traumatic for me).

Then, on the day that I was discharged from the hospital with ds, he got us all in to the car and then turned and presented me with a little box.

It was a gorgeous white gold necklace with a tiny aquamarine heart on it, and two matching aquamarine heart studs. It was so unexpected that I almost cried (but then I was quite hormonal at the time).

So dh can still be romantic when I least expect it...

The day ds1 was born (born 8am) DH was getting a bit bored of sitting around the hospital by about 2pm so I told him to go and buy me a nice present When I got home he had bought a flat screen TV for the kitchen

With ds2 DH went away for 10 days whilst I was 8 months pregnant and skiing for 5 days when he was 5 months old (I know I should have told him 'no') but the first trip was planned before I got pregnant, anyhoo he bought me a fab Tag Heuer when he got back from the skiing, obviously had a guilt trip

Lizzylou · 15/10/2008 13:10

I was going to ask that LL.
"Theres Lovely for you" reminds me of my South Waleian (sp?) friends

raspberrytart · 15/10/2008 13:54

My dh got me a gold locket and chain-cant remember dropping hints for a puching present but I must've done amongst all those hormones(he does need a gentle push kick up the arse)
