How about some smart black trousers with a silky top in a jewel colour, with some strappy black heeled sandals and nice accessories?
Where do you usually shop?

themildmannneredjanitor · 11/10/2008 20:53

top tip. Go to Debenhams and book a personal shopper. It's great. They do all the running around the shop, make you tea and the changing rooms are huge. There's no pressure to buy and the serevice is free

Ronaldinhio · 11/10/2008 20:58

they have some very nice things in wallis at the mo...nice black dresses 40 squid ish with some kurt geiger shoes, a decent collar praps?
jobs a good un

Pannacotta · 11/10/2008 21:01

WHat about your body shape? Are you hourglass/apple etc?
How about colours? Can you take bright colours (have the feeling you can, not sure why)?

themildmannneredjanitor · 11/10/2008 21:03

yes i can. tend to wear a lot of black/turquoise/red/sometimes a bright pink.

think i might be an hourglass-have waist.

have got dark hair and eyes and a pinkish complexion

Ronaldinhio · 11/10/2008 21:04

sorry i STILL can't link

themildmannneredjanitor · 11/10/2008 21:07

i'm not sure that would suit me.

i dn't really DO dresses as they are normally out of proprotion on me. tried a gorgeous sexy pink one on in monsoon the other-was ridiculously short. lookes stupid.

Pannacotta · 11/10/2008 21:08

Thought this looked glam and flattering if you are curvy with good bust

You coudl wear with a bright skirt such as
www.monsoon.co.uk/invt/31203603?

Not sure if this is the sort of thing you would buy?

themildmannneredjanitor · 11/10/2008 21:10

mmm nice.

not sure about monsoon skirts though. they seem to morph inot 'magical arse largening machines' on me. always too short too.

I'm 5'11 and bought it today...knee length

Pannacotta · 11/10/2008 21:11

Or this top
www.principles.co.uk/fcp/product/-/SMART-TOPS/Purple-wrap-top/8790
with perhaps
www.principles.co.uk/fcp/product/-/LONGER-LENGTH-TROUSERS/Black-longer-length-crepe-trouser/8031?

themildmannneredjanitor · 11/10/2008 21:11

oooh i like that purple top

OP posts:
Pannacotta · 11/10/2008 21:15

My advice would be get the top first as I always find it easier to get skirt/trousers to go with a top rather than the other way round.
I think the purple top looks like it would work for both occasions and it looks easy to am,tch with kisr tor trousers and perhaps black, purple or silver accessories.

Pannacotta · 11/10/2008 21:31

This one looks glam too

stayinbed · 11/10/2008 21:33

if you don't do dresses, go for a fitted skirt and a top, you'll feel much sexier showing some leg than in any pair of gorgeous pants

invest in wolford tights

and wear heels, don't have to be too high

PeaMcLean · 11/10/2008 21:36

Erm, sorry, but I really think that if you want funky don't go for a jewel colour with black trousers. Personally I'd play safe with all black if you're looking for something eveningy. And a skirt would be much better for dancing in. Could you do a modest heel?

Pannacotta · 11/10/2008 21:42

I think that a complete black outfit would make someone who is 6ft tall, as the OP is, look even taller.
Though I do agree a skirt is better for dancing and is generally sexier.
This one looks quite sexywww.principles.co.uk/fcp/product/-/SKIRTS/Ink-Pencil-Skirt/8138

themildmannneredjanitor · 11/10/2008 21:43

so what do you think of my biker boots fantasy?

OP posts:
Ronaldinhio · 11/10/2008 21:43

bloody hell i wear all black all the time for stylish and funky...it never occured to me that it would make me taller...

themildmannneredjanitor · 11/10/2008 21:43

i don't really want to do black trousers because i ALWAYS do black trousers

OP posts:
PeaMcLean · 11/10/2008 21:44

Now that's nice. Maybe tempted by that for myself!

Ronaldinhio · 11/10/2008 21:45

with what? catwalk is showing boots with structured shape dresses...sorry to mention the d word again
