Hello everyone, old and new.

This is about feeling better about yourself and looking and feeling better etc. But mainly we chat and laugh quite a lot, which has all got to help towards happiness etc.

The rules (anyone can join):

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine or Champagne or whatever at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Some people are doing India and Neris's Idiot Proof Diet (Atkins, more or less), others are doing Slimy World, others are just being as healthy as possible.

Welcome everyone, have a good week.

Hello

Happy Birthday to you Batters - hope you have thus enjoyed your day.

WWW - best of luck to your ds - and you of course because it is a collective stress. Sounds like you are back on the IPD - have the occasional, ahem, derailments affected your body/weight much (sorry for being so nosey but, despite what I said, I do wonder if it's the best diet for me after all and need to know what the digressions do)?

JJ - hope things improve for you.

I have been very very cross that, despite only having digressed once in 7 weeks of, for me, strict bootcamping has resulted in a loss of only about 3lbs. Have since had 2 'bad' days and seem to have lost 2lbs . Musn't grumble but sheesh, what is my body up to?

Had a great weekend helped by the sun/cool weather combo. I too did some cleaning - I saw the fact that mushrooms were growing on the piece of carpet under one of my kitchen units as a sign that it was time....

My shortish term aim is to be able to buy and wear a new dress for Christmas Day in a size 12 - probably far too ambitious (especially at the rate I'm losing weight) but am hoping it will spur me on to tweak my diet some more and lose at a slightly more reasonable rate. My appetite has definitely shrunk and no wine in the week has become an achieveable habit (now to break the making cakes 'for the kids' habit)

Hello hello hello, all

Happy Birthday batters - what's left of it, anyway!

WWW - calming Zen-like thoughts coming your way - and ds's way too of course. Have everything crossed for him.

Not too bad today bootcamp-wise: I&N does appear to reduce the need for constant snacking if I do it properly. Small amount of cheese for breakfast, avocado and parma ham for lunch, steak and spinach salad for supper. Fair amount of water. Am drinking a glass of red tonight but just the one My tummy is definitely flatter and I feel somehow 'lighter' - 'tis good.

LOL @ clean house plan, tortoiseshell - let us know how it pans out!

Marina · 30/09/2008 20:38

Ooo, is it today batters? I mailed you with belated wishes, perhaps I snuck in just in time after all
Bad couple of days due to "challenging" children. Ds is being very difficult and shouty, which is not like him, and dd is the same old exhausting dervish.
Work also v. trying, so much to do and so little time to get it all done.
WWW, very best of luck to you and ds - have been thinking of you

tortoiseshell · 30/09/2008 20:45

HAPPY BIRTHDAY batters! x

Are we going to have a 10yy meet up sometime? I am DYING to have an excuse to come to London and meet everyone properly.

Marina · 30/09/2008 21:22

Am gradually trundling back through thread here and catching up with people
So sorry to hear about your uncle eemie
and LOL at the exercise clothes camm, I have those
Zen-like calm for us all tomorrow, please...

foxinsocks · 30/09/2008 21:23

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BATTERS!

and good luck www for ds (sends exam vibes). Peppermints? Is he allowed them. I always found them useful if I was worried about exams - good distraction.

goals are a good idea actually (just reading yours tortoiseshell). I think I'll try and come up with some.

Marina - I took that 5-htp ages ago for something or other. Think it was an attempt to regulate hormones (one of many lol). I think they were originally used as a diet pill so you may see some other welcome effects!

Marina · 30/09/2008 21:23

Hmmph, and as for you, at "last baby" - and you have chickens!
Mumi, what are you studying? I have just been wading through freshers for my job, bless em all!

foxinsocks · 30/09/2008 21:25

oh yes have read thread backwards. Poor you eemie. Be kind to yourself. All that upheaval in such a short period must have really taken it out of you. Hope you've had some time to put your feet up.

Marina · 30/09/2008 21:26

Foxy, so far they seem to have given me the munchies but that could be King Kong-sized PMT
How are your innards?

foxinsocks · 30/09/2008 21:32

innards have fixed themselves. They always do this. A few weeks of being up the swanny and they sort themselves out. Watch out for me putting on the 4kg I've lost in 2 weeks flat. I will get very healthy and happy probably for the next few months then get another relapse.

Will get it sorted. At least have a gastroenterologist now who is keeping an eye on me but will now wait and book the scan when it's convenient and dh is at home. It's been v stressful with him being away so much and I don't think it's helped tbh. I had a bit of a freak out on my way home when a minor problem meant it took me 2.5 hours to get home and I found myself getting needlessly cross about the washing and food shopping and cooking and cleaning and working and being a mum and everything. But I feel MUCH better now after screeching a song at the TOP of my voice on the walk back to the house and have chilled!

onwards and upwards

thanks for asking

and weirdly, I remember that effect of the 5htp at first. Think it takes a while to settle.

unknownrebelbang · 30/09/2008 21:47

Happy Birthday Batters.

DS1 has been baking mmmmm.

Marina · 30/09/2008 21:48

Baking...what? Or can you not actually tell ureb? (A bit like dd's "fairy cakes")

tortoiseshell · 30/09/2008 21:48

yes, very very sorry about your uncle eemie. x

unknownrebelbang · 30/09/2008 21:53

Some glorious concoction of a cake, with dried fruit and coconut.

It was a tad crumbly, but was yummy, and of course, I HAD to taste it, he'd have been hurt had I refused . Ah, well at least it was fresh and home-made, and I've done an hour of exercise to balance it...

Sorry to hear about your uncle, Eemie.

eemie · 01/10/2008 14:39

Thanks Marina, Foxy, tortoiseshell and ureb for your kind wishes.

I'm wading through treacle this week, everything an effort. Think I'll take your advice, Foxy, and stop striving so hard.

Nice to have the puppy around - she's so uncomplicated

eemie · 01/10/2008 14:39

ANd happy birthday Batters

CaptainJaneway · 01/10/2008 15:21

hello I am an old namechanger here (but for a reason so don't out me if you recognise me). Today I walked 2 miles, ate scrambled egg and bacon for breakfast followed by spinach salad with tuna, anchovies, tomatoes and other salad for lunch and tonight we are having cod in proscuitto on green beans with lemon and garlic. I am on day 3 of no wine but may crumble before the week is out as it's a stressful one. I have been in bed by half ten all week though.

Batters, happy birthday for yesterday. Eemie, I am sorry about your uncle. I hope everyone else is having a good week, nearly Thursday.

Marina · 01/10/2008 15:29

Aye Aye Captain and welcome aboard XXX

TheDuchessOfNork · 01/10/2008 23:14

I'm having another busy week, so apologies for lack of posting. Pre-school Autumn Fair looming up on Saturday - it's my last duty and then I'm freeeeee!

Everything OKish bootcamp-wise. Except the early nights...!

VersdeSociete · 01/10/2008 23:17

Arghhh, am horribly out of touch, have eaten nothing but cake and Nestle's chocolate and have hideous child birthday parties coming upon me...
Sigh.
But will do better and will ctach up with everyone's news also....

VersdeSociete · 01/10/2008 23:18

L & S, I wanted to call one of my sons Seymour, but it got vetoed.

tortoiseshell · 01/10/2008 23:23

Am skulking on this thread and Chicken Keepers and hiding from the rest of MN which seems to be being sucked into a Large Hadron Collider style black hole...

not a bad day for me, but not perfect either.

Food; bowl of tomato and basil soup, 2 v small slices pizza, 1 slice garlic bread (woops).
Alcohol; 1 glass wine.
Exercise; took ds2 to gymnastics, which involved ME doing the exercises, then cleaned the bathroom VERY thoroughly (scrubbing the skirting boards etc). Other than that not so good.

Will endeavour to better tomorrow! Hope everyone else has a good day.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 02/10/2008 10:50

Bit mad out there isn't it?

Bit too stressed here to bootcamp too but have been to the gym and worked off some of my anxiety.

Work now so see you later.
