Style and beauty

I've realised that I'm quite a trendy/cool mum during the summer but when it starts getting cold I turn into a right FRUMP......I hate it, what can I do/buy to make my winter clothes De-Frump???

I mentioned it to SuburbanDryad today and even she aggreed....in a nice way of course

I'm all mumsy and boring.

I want my summer clothes in winter styles.

I'm a bit of a ageing surfer chick style so its not easy.....

sputnik have many vests but I didn't think I'd need them on Sept 8. Tomorrow they come out of whatever the opposite of hibernation is - was hardly a long stay
And interested to hear people's verdict on the ultimate winter boot

That M&S mustard skirt is very cute.

I love jumper dresses but feel they show every lump, so haven't worn one since I was about 14.

Fat face do lovely knitwear. Just go in and buy a whole outfit at once, that way you know it will 'work'.

I have loved reading all of your comments! Glad to know I'm not the only one! I really need to buy a new coat but don't have time to trawl around shops. Any recommendations? I needs to be a snuggly warm (but preferably not too mumsy) so can keep toasty walking my little one to school. Any ideas greatly appreciated

oh my lord, that skirt was truly hideous!

Not that skirt - that is beyond gruesome. No, the one I saw is a sort of cute 1950s-ish one.

this brown coat?? with a great hat, scarf, bag and gloves??

Take a look at the whistles link for ideas on shape. Then look for an affordable version!

this is the skirt I saw; it says it is lime green but it is more yellowish in the flesh. I'm not sure what colouring you'd need to carry it off but I did think it was quite cute.

You go girl - I suggest white stilletoes and a baseball cap to accessorise; suitable for any occasion from the school run to tea at the palace.
