I've realised that I'm quite a trendy/cool mum during the summer but when it starts getting cold I turn into a right FRUMP......I hate it, what can I do/buy to make my winter clothes De-Frump???

I mentioned it to SuburbanDryad today and even she aggreed....in a nice way of course

I'm all mumsy and boring.

I want my summer clothes in winter styles.

I'm a bit of a ageing surfer chick style so its not easy.....

sputnik have many vests but I didn't think I'd need them on Sept 8. Tomorrow they come out of whatever the opposite of hibernation is - was hardly a long stay
And interested to hear people's verdict on the ultimate winter boot

That M&S mustard skirt is very cute.

I love jumper dresses but feel they show every lump, so haven't worn one since I was about 14.

thefortbuilder · 08/09/2008 18:27

i have a jumper dress last year from hobbs in......chocolate! and i have to permanently breathe in whilst wearing it. but it does look fab with orange suede boots

KristinaM · 08/09/2008 20:06

Fat face do lovely knitwear. Just go in and buy a whole outfit at once, that way you know it will 'work'.

childrenknowyourlimits · 08/09/2008 20:13

I have loved reading all of your comments! Glad to know I'm not the only one! I really need to buy a new coat but don't have time to trawl around shops. Any recommendations? I needs to be a snuggly warm (but preferably not too mumsy) so can keep toasty walking my little one to school. Any ideas greatly appreciated

dexter73 · 08/09/2008 20:13

I've got that skirt especially for the school run!

JRocks · 08/09/2008 20:17

oh my lord, that skirt was truly hideous!

janeite · 08/09/2008 20:20

Not that skirt - that is beyond gruesome. No, the one I saw is a sort of cute 1950s-ish one.

onepieceoflollipop · 08/09/2008 20:41

That's not a skirt it's an Easter Egg wrapper!

KristinaM · 08/09/2008 21:17

oh janeite, you are backtracking now

ladytophamhatt · 08/09/2008 21:19

See, but alot of this is really smart.

Far too smart for me.

I look scary if if too done up...

this brown coat?? with a great hat, scarf, bag and gloves??

Take a look at the whistles link for ideas on shape. Then look for an affordable version!

janeite · 08/09/2008 22:08

this is the skirt I saw; it says it is lime green but it is more yellowish in the flesh. I'm not sure what colouring you'd need to carry it off but I did think it was quite cute.

KristinaM · 08/09/2008 22:13

sorry janeite i prefer my gold per una one

pity i cant get a matching jacket

KristinaM · 08/09/2008 22:15

oh great here it is

janeite · 08/09/2008 22:16

You go girl - I suggest white stilletoes and a baseball cap to accessorise; suitable for any occasion from the school run to tea at the palace.

janeite · 08/09/2008 22:17

Oh my god - that is stunning!

KristinaM · 08/09/2008 22:18

LTH I see what you mean - you ARE very scary in smart

KristinaM · 08/09/2008 22:19

you are all just jealous cuz i am so klassy

mou · 09/09/2008 08:04

primark basics long sleeve t-shirts....get size to fit exactly and go under anything, like funky thermals. (i've got 15!)
