Opinions on these M&S wide-leg trousers before I keep them?

Can I have opinions on these trousers please 🙏. I’ve ordered them and they fit beautifully. Couldn’t be better. I’m just not 100% sure about them, probably because I rarely pay full price for anything.

They look nice on the model but I have no idea how they look on you.
I quite like Jaeger clothes myself, they are usually good quality and classically stylish.

Marks & Spencer purchased the brand name in January 2021 after Jaeger collapsed into administration. So Jaeger is exclusive to M&S, now, and a sub brand of M&S.

They have different management & design teams though.

Thanks everyone, I do like them and I will probably keep them on reflection😊. I will wear them for work with a shirt and sweater or blazer. I can imagine wearing them for going out for lunch too.

The fit is divine, that's why I will keep them. I wear wide legged trouser suits from Whistles and Jigsaw which are wool or wool/cotton mix, so these are definitely my sort of thing, however, the fabric doesn't feel quite as premium as the Whistles/Jigsaw suits.

I literally never pay full price for anything 😅, yes, I can definitely afford them.

I’m going against the majority here - I really can’t see what’s so special about them - Because they’re Jaeger?

Because they scream quality!

AlwaysExtraHot · 30/09/2026 15:58

They're almost entirely wool, so I think the price is OK.
Not my personal colour, but if you love them, great! They look nice and heavy and well tailored.
Jaeger is good quality and well designed. I have a fab winter coat that I get lots of compliments on.

Spendthrifting · 30/09/2026 16:02

I wanted to love them because the colour is gorgeous- I’m a size 14& 5 ft 7. They’re not great on (me)- too much volume. Perhaps if you were tall and thin they would be nice.

Monty36 · 30/09/2026 16:04

Sometimes because something is expensive it makes an item feel better. If they were £50 would you still like them ?

I think you'd struggle to find 85% part lined wool trousers for £50.

I agree.

If the Jaeger label was removed I doubt people would give them a second glance.

ItsAlwaysTwins · 30/09/2026 16:21

They’re nice, but I really hate red.

VictoriaEra · 30/09/2026 16:22

love them

Pinkgin00 · 30/09/2026 16:23

I am not a fan of the colour, red trousers are very out there and I think you will be limited to what you could pair them with. Having said that, if you love them and can afford them, does it matter what others think

SerendipityCat · 30/09/2026 16:24

I think they're lovely, and I only wish that colour suited me! I have an old pair of Jaeger wool trousers in grey herringbone that I used to dutifully bring out every winter for years when I was working, the most hard-wearing trousers I've ever owned. I'm sorry to say my waistband has expanded too far to wear them now!

I think grey or another dark red would look good, as in the pics. A soft brown, or an animal print in brown shades. A lime green would be amazing, or maybe if you wanted less bold colours a lime-green long-sleeved top or shirt visible under a more neutral jumper/cardigan.

I just think they are an odd red shade. You can tell they look like good quality, I would prefer them in more neutral shades.

I am not keen on the red top in the photo and I find that grey a really dull colour. I like abit of colour, but lime green and red trousers would be a step too far for me, but we are all different 😊

AlwaysExtraHot · 30/09/2026 16:35

Well, the OP likes the red.

BarnacleBeasley · 30/09/2026 16:36

I just ignore dry clean only labels and wash stuff carefully.

Wwe175 · 30/09/2026 16:37

Oh goodness they aren’t washable. You need to add dry clean costs on top, at least £10/£15 each 2 or 3 wears. Impractical.

BarbaraUsher · 30/09/2026 16:38

Gorgeous! Post a picture of you wearing them. You can crop off anything identifying.

EleanorMc67 · 30/09/2026 16:55

I like them (although they're more straight than wide-legged to me). A lovely dark red shade that will go with navy/black/camel/tan etc. I like the scarlet jumper with them, but it works because the coat has both dark & bright red in it, so it knits the top & bottom halves together.

I used to have all my work clothes drycleaned - now I can't remember the last time I had anything done!

OneTake · 30/09/2026 16:57

Lovely. Keep them.

EmpressStorm · 30/09/2026 16:58

Markies quality has gone right down hill. So I think it depends if you think it’s worth it, also a pic of them on you v the model would be helpful, as unless you’re same height and body shape, size, they could look v different

I do too. It's always fine.

Jaeger not M&S - different design team, higher quality of cut & fabrics, higher prices.

Markies own them employ the design team, it’s no different to per Una or autograph, just a brand they sell under
