Are reading glasses on a chain stylish or have I lost the plot?

Oh dear 😅

I now need reading glasses for anything involving reading or close up detail eg dicing an onion. It’s a PiTA because I’m always putting them down and then can’t remember where they are.

A friend of mine has started wearing hers on a chain (a very bold statement chain) and when I saw it I thought it looked very chic- when I was younger having glasses on a chain was really granny ish and I would never have even considered it, but somehow now I’m 50 I feel that leaning in to being older is absolutely fine and much more stylish than denial.

So I am thinking of getting a chain for my glasses. Have I lost the plot?

Ah, my reading glasses have thick plastic frames and arms so this doesn’t happen. They’re like sunglasses basically.

Oh no! The only people I know who do this are very old! It will add 20 years to you. Just buy some cheap reading glasses and store them round the house. Alternatively get contacts.

I was chatting to (teen) DD earlier saying i was too vain/proud to get varifocals at the opticians when I last went because i felt they were old people-y (im 48, shortsighted and worn glasses for 20+ years)
But i feel like i end up taking them off a lot (i can see close up better without glasses) and then forgetting where I put them...which is more old people-ish than getting the flipping varifocals! 🤣

I did consider a chain. DD complimented a relative - who is in her 20s - on a beaded chain she had for her sunglasses, which seemed slightly promising they weren't only for people "of a certain age"

I have always popped my reading glasses on my head, and it has never affected the glasses, stretched them, or broken them. They are all fine.

I am frequently seen walking around the house like this. (Sometimes I'm looking for my reading glasses!) 😂 👓

I bought lovely chains in a shop called Meller in Spain, really pretty and distinctive. A young person in Gails commented on them yesterday. So yes they are definitely stylish 😁

I do this but mine are so loose now and are constantly falling off my head when I look down!

I bought, what I thought was a funky glasses chain with bright beads. It aged me 30 years and immediately felt I should be shushing and tutting at anyone talking like a 1970s librarian of my youth. Absolute no. I perch them on my head.
