Well I like the SdJ Delicia Drench so I'm happy to get the shower oil again, although I don't like the smell of the Bum Bum cream and I remember when that was in everything.

I don't live anywhere near a Home Bargains, so I have no idea what they sell, but if anybody spots Augustinus Bader or Elizabeth Sturm in there please do update and I'll find one somehow 😀

AMurderofMurderingCrows · 17/08/2026 20:37

Inside you'll find 2 full-size products, 1 mid-size product, 5 travel sizes, 14 deluxe minis and 2 accessories.

Only 2 full size products. For £229!!! Bloody shocking 😱

That’s outrageous!

Peridot1 · 17/08/2026 22:36

@Advententhusiast - yes that makes sense. I was using two products that had actives that I didn’t really realise. Now on a very gentle barrier repair time for a bit.

I now think I just want to get to a solid routine of products that suit my skin, don’t stress it and just work.

HollyGolightly4 · 17/08/2026 22:39

Ive just bought an Elizabeth Arden unwrap mystery box at £90 🙈. I find their stuff works really well on my skin. A little bit impulsive given i was meant to be saving for my bacs!

MidnightMeltdown · 17/08/2026 22:49

Hmm... not sure about Elle. It’s a bit of a mixed bag. There are a couple of interesting products, like the EGF eye serum which I’ve not seen before in a calendar, but there are also quite a few DoDs for me.

I mean, scalp drops?! I can only assume that’s one of those products that someone is trying to offload. Also not keen on facial oil, Tatcha, Votary, or any of the makeup in this calendar.

Yeah Elle isn't as amazing as I thought it was going to be and the higher price is putting me off. It may end up being reduced down the line and I would reconsider, but for now, the stand out products are the EGF eye which I've never tried, the Sunday Riley is another decent eye product and I would really enjoy trying the Shiseido primer, beauty pie serum and the cleanser would look lovely next to the sink. However, there's plenty I just don't need such as retinol when I'm using tret, and the Zelens and Votary which I already have unopened. I have no interest in abother hand cream or the perfume too, so I'm leaning towards more misses than exciting products for me unfortunately.

IlovePond · 18/08/2026 01:10

Elle isn’t doing anything for me, ditto SNK. I didn’t like SNJ’s in 2025 either. For me, SNK 2024 and LF FAC 2020 were the ‘ones that got away’.

Boots - for me - all disappointing - especially after all the excitement of their first FAC.

Of the big beasts - Harrods looks pretty good. GB interests me the most so far.

Advententhusiast · 18/08/2026 05:28

Same, thats probably also why I am less bothered with some advents this year.

The Elemis Toner and ironically Paula's Choice barrier creme wrecked havock on my skin. Took me 2 months to calm it down. They discontinued the Clarins cleanser I have always used since my 20s years ago. Still searching for a proper replacement ever since. And once I find it, ill stick to it.

Another reason why I am much more interested in well rounded calendars. Just give me a fancy candle Id never buy myself because it too expensive (Diptique, Trudon, Fornasetti or a Niche Perfume one), some smancy fancy fragrance sticks or roomspray, a nice bodycream/oil/lotion and showergel and a scrub (eff off SdJ and can we actually have a full size..), an eye cream, a day and a night cream, 1 serum, a cleanser, a shampoo and conditioner to try (would be nice for something else than Olaplex or Color Wow) Oribe, Kevin Murphy, Ouai etc...a hairmask or something. Give me a nice rounded niche perfume or a more high end desiger one (no Vogue, thats not Burberry Her.....), some other travel size perfumes that are well rounded instead of 50 shades of vanilla/ gourmet so you smell like an artificial milkshake and some more general shades of make-up (maybe with xmass in mind) and leave the rejected clini clown colors out of it that are left over stock which some are clearly trying to shift... For a decent price instead of a gazillion mini's and travel sizes which are clearly promotional products for extortionate prices (looking at you JL). Now I dont mind travel sizes if the calender is priced accordingly. Most are not.

Sorry for the rant but Im still extremely underwhelmed by most advents.

TreesinthePark · 18/08/2026 05:58

I've been slightly put off the Sephora calendar...I collected an order from SNK yesterday and tried the Kosas highlighter while I was there. Its an awful blue/green mermaid tail type of colour that's totally unwearable. Any other shade of that product could be used by any skintone but they've picked the shade that screams 16 year-old at their first festival!

Its not a big deal in itself to not like a makeup product but that particular selection feels careless or worse, deliberately giving us crap. They had no Summer Fridays for me to try the blush and it was so crowded in the shopping centre I didn't go to Sephora itself to look.

So I'm still undecided and need to go back and look at Elle properly since it is so popular here.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 18/08/2026 06:58

SunnyPinkMoose · 17/08/2026 21:14

They should defo do a documentary “ the creating of a BAC” that I would watch

Ooh yes. Like Inside The Factory (but way more interesting than watching millions of Quavers trundling along a production line then being tossed about in cheesy powder!)

I like those SF blushes. A little bit like Rhode cream blush but different packaging.

Beautyfox · 18/08/2026 08:43

Clarins have launched their waitlist. I often find these calendars over priced and pick them up in the sale. However I would love this years to wow me because I quite like their products and they often form my baseline of what good is.
www.clarins.co.uk/advent-calendar-sign-up/

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 18/08/2026 08:53

I first got into skincare with Clarins so I have a soft spot for their products. They still feel expensive though, not sure why.
Clarins' BAC is £165 with a value of £273, that feels quite mean compared to the price / value of the other BACs.

OvaHere · 18/08/2026 09:09

@Beautyfox the single brands that don't have a high value ratio are definitely ones to try and pick up on sale as they rarely sell out. A few places like Jarrolds still had discounted Clarins BACs from last year not that long ago (12 day ones I think).

SaraCrewe06 · 18/08/2026 09:56

Hmm, Elle not cutting it for me. Too much skincare.

SunnyPinkMoose · 18/08/2026 09:57

I bought this a while ago , popped bits of it in my mums Frankenstein advent .

IlovePond · 18/08/2026 09:57

@Advententhusiast - you are so right.

I also like a tool I would never buy myself and I do have a sneaking fondness for a pair of sparkling Xmas earrings!

My best ever a/c buy was when I was quite new to it all and I got the LF 2022 one in the BF sale for £45, (as I had £6 credit). Best a/c ever! It was the one with the mini PMD face tool - I still have it and it’s going strong!

Strong second place goes to H&B from I think 2020 or 21 - I loved the jade roller and gua sha and use them every day! (Was recently gutted when I broke the roller and had to buy a not as good replacement!)

Thinking about these old calendars caused me to look back through the a/c archives - ASOS and LF were brilliant in 2021/22, etc. and were about £70 back then!

I do think I got into a/cs just as the quality began to decline as the costs went up!

percypigss · 18/08/2026 09:59

I’ve got a huge backlog of skincare, so I’ve went for the fragrance shop this year. I’m excited.

SunnyPinkMoose · 18/08/2026 09:59

I meant to add

🎄✨ Beauty & Fragrance Advent Calendars – Info/Chat 2026 SPOILERS 🎁 Thread 4 ✨🎄
IlovePond · 18/08/2026 10:01

@Beautyfox and @DidILeaveTheGasOn Clarins a/cs often turn up in the Clarins’ outlets heavily reduced.

The year I bought the 12 day one, (2023?), it was reduced in the Clarins site AND I got a GWP!

I didn’t love it - it was just ok - and I noticed that the contents in subsequent years have been almost identical, (which is weird!)

I kept the box - it’s great. It’s currently holding my DIY fragrance calendar contents!

IlovePond · 18/08/2026 10:18

Re: Liberty

I had stuff in my Liberty basket already and the GWP added automatically.

I added the a/c and removed the other stuff. The GWP stayed in my basket and I went to checkout. Fair enough, thought I - I will get the a/c with my points and use some of the GWP to swap out the many many DODs.

I came out of my basket to get my BD drop credit and the GWP was removed from my basket.

I have tried and failed to get the GWP to stay in again.

I am very very unimpressed!

If I had got my BD credit ready in advance, I could have checked out with the a/c and the gift. I know it was a glitch, but I am still miffed!

IlovePond · 18/08/2026 10:29

Early access to the Boots no7 a/c is open.

Code: ADVENTSAVE gives £10 off either calendar today only:

They may well have removed it when it was being processed. We'll never know!

namechange0998776554799000 · 18/08/2026 11:17

I've pre-ordered the Harrods BAC. I loved it when it was first announced, and every new reveal that comes out I just never get that same level of excitement. If one or more of the late runners turn out to be amazing I can always have two (hopefully a slightly cheaper one like GB rather than CB).

Harrods have an offer where if you spend more than £100 you get entered into a prize draw to potentially win the GWP they were giving away in the summer (I think). I already have that, and I don't even know if the BAC is excluded from the promotion (I haven't had any follow up to say I'm the draw), but the pop up on my phone this morning was enough to prod me into action 🤷‍♀️

I'm sure I'll regret it if the BAC is discounted later - I bought it 10% off last year, but I have a nice warm fuzzy feeling now knowing I have a calendar secured 😁
