What outfits have you been wearing most this summer?

It hasn’t been a typical summer in terms of weather so I have been trying to dress for comfort in the heat.

I have been in white pinstripe wide leg trousers and a black vest or black loose top (M&S.) I bought a pair of rust coloured balloon trousers (Next) and they have had a lot of wear too. For smarter occasions I have worn a pair of burgundy wide leg trousers (Fatface) and a burgundy short sleeved top (Boden.) Another outfit has been a patterned skirt (Mango) and a navy top (White Stuff.) It’s shorts in the garden mainly!

I have a photo of me on a beach in West Wales one August about ten years ago and I am in a coat and wellies and freezing so dressing for five heatwaves is novel!

What have you been wearing this summer?

Mainly light cotton or linen barrel style trousers (Uniqlo or Zara) Uniqlo bra vests, and linen or light cotton boxy shirts either in neutral or blue and white stripe. Birkenstock Arizona or teva sandals.

I react badly to insect bites so I don’t tend to wear dresses as my lower legs usually have big red lumps on. I’ve been wearing linen/linen mix trousers with cotton short sleeved shirts or floaty tops. I’ve just bought a couple of pairs of Halara linen-look trousers, recommended by DD, who’s been living in hers all summer.

I was bitten by a horse fly my car. You just can't escape critters 😭

Cotton leopard print shorts or denim ALine shorts, with a nice Tshirt or vest
Cotton dresses
Birkenstocks
Sunnies
😎

I've surprised myself by constantly reaching for my grey t-shirt maxi dress. I expect some would say it looks like a nightie or a sack, but it's cool and comfortable in the heat, and can be dressed up with the right shoes or accessories.

oatymabuse · 12/08/2026 13:58

I've been suffering so much in the heat, am mostly a big sweaty mess (thanks perimenopause & autism) & can't bear to wear clothes really!

Mostly been in :
Very lightweight linen or cotton short shorts
Bikini top with no wiring or padding
Vest top or t shirt
Birkenstocks
Cap/sunnies
Occasionally a long floaty dress or skirt, but I'm finding that I can't do too much material. Can't even do linen barrel trousers which I usually love.

Looking forward to cooler temps.

Shorts. With t-shirts for mooching around the house & garden, and linen shirts for going out and about. Tevas or birkenstocks on my feet.

I tried on my jeans a couple of days ago, as I'm going Up North where its chillier next week, and they felt very strange!

Justploddingonandon · 12/08/2026 15:28

Mostly midi dresses with either short sleeves or sleeveless but wide straps as I'm not very good at remembering suncream so like to keep my back and shoulders covered. Linen wide leg or baloon trousers if it's slightly cooler (I need more of these but find they only stay up if they have a drawstring or can be worn with a belt so struggling to find any).

Echobelly · 12/08/2026 15:32

A lot of my linen dress with a fish print that I bought in South of France because it's almost weightless. Wearing it today.

Also a Boden green cotton A-line short sleeve dress with palm tree print, and a green geometric print shorts playsuit from them (I don't like green that much usually but it was the only print they had on sale in my size when I bought it)

Topseyt123 · 12/08/2026 17:38

I've lived in shorts and t-shirts. Any design really but I like them on the baggy side to allow airflow.

Strappy flat sandals or crocs on my feet. Sometimes Birkenstocks if I want something slightly smarter but still flat.

I'm very classy. 😉😎

DefiantRabbit9 · 12/08/2026 21:00

I'm in the third tri so I'm literally surviving off a capsule wardrobe of black & white dresses as my bump is massive.

Even my dungarees are starting to get snug. Still only 12 more working days to go.

QuirkySheep · 01/09/2026 17:02

my wife has been doing the same thing lately 😂 she’ll post a few outfits and get other peoples opinions before deciding which ones are actually worth wearing on mirrala

Princessfluffy · 01/09/2026 19:01

I’ve worn shorts more than any other year since I was a child. And some midi dresses for when shorts weren’t appropriate.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/09/2026 08:34

I made three sleeveless, side tie cotton sundresses and have been wearing them pretty much on repeat. Also I made two cotton co-ord sets with a midi skirt and matching shell top. Now need to start planning a couple of dresses to make for autumn.

Bluenotgreen · 02/09/2026 08:39

Cotton dresses or shorts and t shirts

Cantonet · 02/09/2026 09:37

Cheesecloth skirts with either a vest top/waistcoat or a cropped muslin shirt.
Long column shaped cotton or linen dresses.
Flipflops.

AbigailsKaftan · 02/09/2026 10:40

Denim shorts (white and blue) with a linen shirt or linen trousers and a vest. Birkies. Nearly everyday since June. Cost per wear was excellent.
