The end of summer lies ahead, but we're hoping for more bling!

Absolutely love Leti's dress. It is stunning. Love her silver sandals too.

I usually only lurk on here for the past few years, mainly admiring the jewellery. But this came up on my fb feed and I thought it belonged here. The most over the top, gorgeous European crowns!

Amazing works of art!

The crown of Princess Blanche that’s shown in that montage belonged to an English princess - Henry IV’s daughter (and so Henry V’s sister and grand daughter to John of Gaunt and Blanche of Lancaster, after whom she was named). She was married to the son of King Rupert of Germany in 1402 and that crown formed part of her dowry. It used to belong to Richard II, who her father had deposed.

Sadly Princess Blanche died just a few years later aged only 17. Her crown stayed in Germany however, and is in a museum in Munich today. Which is probably lucky really - if it had stayed in the UK it would probably have been destroyed in the Interregnum like most of the other historic royal jewels!

Fabulous @VikingLady . How do I pause it because it goes too fast for me to read. Anyone?

Just tap the screen to pause it. Or that’s how it works on my phone, at least.

Thanks I wasn't being firm enough.

Aren't they interesting crowns with carvings even tiny paintings and the metal work skill. It wasn't just about sparkle then but glorious colours.

Conspicuous consumption at its absolute best!

That crown is something else - beautiful!

I love this picture of the King planting a rose in the garden at the Castle of Mey earlier this week. A reminder that I really must up my style game in the 'gardening clothes' department! 🙂

A sporran is essential! 😉
I like that little seat in the alcove.

Yes @RomainingCalmbut who will be washing and ironing that white tablecloth.
It certainly won’t be King Charles

AppleDumplingWithCustard · Yesterday 16:29

I should think the sporran is very handy as somewhere to keep your trowel and your dibber.

You never know. It might make a change from meeting Prime Ministers.

You're right! Very practical.

Bought my grandson a metal detector on Tuesday. Yesterday he was out in the garden with little trowels looking for things. Well he found an ancient pair of metal spectacles and a Victorian penny. The house was built in the grounds of a church so he's very optimistic. Perhaps I should buy him a sporran .😁

Everyone should have a sporran - very handy!

DS is off to an international scout camp this week and Scottish scouts are encouraged to wear kilts, he keeps his mobile phone in his sporran. They are very handy as kilts have no pockets 😂

It's a hands free handbag. Very practical.

DH is Scottish, a sporran is indeed a very useful spare handbag. He often carries the overflow from a tiny wedding bag for me.
