Please help me with the ultimate shoes for wide feet

I have incredibly wide and sensitive feet. They rub no matter what, shoes that are broken in one day can rub the next. I need (at least) three pairs of shoes for the summer:

  1. a light pair of trainers. I like adidas but have mixed experience with rubbing
  2. a pair of sandals. Birkenstock style appeals to me, but I want them to be good for wide feet. ideally they’d also have a strap at the back so I can wear them to work
  3. a dressier pair of sandals for evenings.

please help!

I’m blocked by barefoot Brit lol

Why?!

I think there’s also a Barefoot Universe blog but it’s more international. I suspect you’ll still be able to go to BarefootBrit’s blog though where the recommendations are.

(Although I slightly suspect if you’re blocked that you might not be interested in barefoot shoes).

Here to second barefoot brands.

BarefootBrit has a great blog about different barefoot shoes, and there are some really nice ones now. I have narrow feet so probably won’t wear the same brands as you, but if you’re used to shoes being too tight or rubbing, some of the barefoot brands will likely change your life!

There is also a Danish company called Duckfeet. They used to post to the UK at reasonable cost, but I expect Brexit may have changed this. They also used to sell through the Natural Shoe Store in London, no idea if they still do.

She posted a (frankly dangerous) TikTok regarding never needing any support in shoes. I asked her about my specific situation and she said it was fake, I showed her the letter from a consultant who said I needed to wear supportive shoes, so she blocked me 🤣

Brown EverAu Australia Flame Leather Sandals | Debenhams https://share.google/M4gFtvUdlPG7eycfI
Worth a browse through all their other makes as well

sueelleker · 04/06/2026 17:55

I've not used them, because my feet aren't quite that wide; but this company does up to 8E fittings.https://www.widerfitshoes.co.uk/womens-wide-fit-shoes?srsltid=AfmBOoqJ-FVbH-68uA2jCTUSCD-ZwrH58qLD4Wqu5xxNP2vACR8kxdJi

I have horrible wide feet. These are infinitely adjustable and the toe straps are in just the right place for my little toes. These might be cheap but my cream pair were about the only shoes I wore for my whole fortnight holiday last year. These are actually quite pretty. It's a shame they only do gold now.

New look wide can be VERY wide in some styles. I ordered a few pairs and they were like build a bear shoes as I have small feet.

I have wide feet and lots of foot issues including finding that shoes rub. I found Converse wide an absolute game changer. I won't wear anything else for trainers, they're just brilliant. I did find they rubbed once when tiny socks slipped off my heel, but otherwise they are perfect.

Love my Birkenstocks, they're wonderful.

I've barely ever managed to find comfortable dressy shoes but after advice on here I bought some Esska shoes for my wedding. They are so comfortable, didn't need breaking in and can wear for hours and hours without even noticing them. They are expensive but worth it

BCBird · 05/06/2026 07:28

I found the Rocket Dog did not come far up the back of the foot- don't like that. I recently bought some Fitflop retro trainers. They are roomy. Feel like you are walking on air. There is usually a code to get money off- think even better deal if new customer. Bought a second pair. I have size 9 and am able to get my full insole for fallen arches in.

BCBird · 05/06/2026 07:29

Look at a site called Simply Feet- I managed to get a pair of Vionic. Think it end of stock stuff. Vionic usually out of my price range
