Please help me with the ultimate shoes for wide feet

drinksdilemma · Today 16:24

I have incredibly wide and sensitive feet. They rub no matter what, shoes that are broken in one day can rub the next. I need (at least) three pairs of shoes for the summer:

  1. a light pair of trainers. I like adidas but have mixed experience with rubbing
  2. a pair of sandals. Birkenstock style appeals to me, but I want them to be good for wide feet. ideally they’d also have a strap at the back so I can wear them to work
  3. a dressier pair of sandals for evenings.

please help!

birks do a wide fit and some styles have a back strap. Clarks do a wide fit trainer.

For the Birkies - well Birkenstock do two width fittings, and are quite generous to start with! The Regular width is wide, standard is narrow if that makes sense. I consider my feet to be wide, but I have FatFace Birkenstock-alike shoes which are really wide on me (but adjustable).

Trainers fur casual, or trainers for running? New Balance do a lot of styles in wide fit (also quite wide to start with).

The widest Addidas that I’ve found are Spezial in suede. They have foam arch supports, which can feel a bit uncomfortable, but it’s easy to remove the inner sole, peel them off and then put the inner sole back in without them.

I have very wide feet and am so careful what l buy . I stick to Sketchers for trainers and Clarks Cloud steppers for sandals, l don't buy posh sandals though 😁

The issue is I’m young so I’d like to at least be a little fashionable 😭😭

I buy virtually all my shoes from ECCO , in their sale.

I have extremely wide feet and I second the suede spezials. Birkenstocks but I wear with socks because of rubbing. ASOS wide fit for sandals

I have feet prone to rubbing like yours and don't really wear trainers but the only pair I found recently which didn't rub (having tried Adidas) are Rocket Dogs which are lovely. I hardly wear them though because they are wite so look dirty.

I do have Skechers slip ins but NOT the arch support which rub terribly.

Sandals wise - still shopping! Pavers do some comfy ones but you need to try loads on. Hush Puppies are comfy in some styles but their insoles are often slippery.

I have never bought Birkenstocks but anything similar my little toe hangs over the side!

I have two pairs of spezials - one fit like a glove, the other rub me raw. Both suede, both bought around the same time!

The Rocket Dogs are called Cheery , by the way.

My daughter is young, 30 and has very wide feet too, she's very fashionable imho anyway 😂. She's just bought gorgeous duck egg blue Berks from ASOS that she absolutely loves. They had 25%off them so they were , crocs are now doing very nice sandals , also ASOS do a wide fit range now. Trainers she gets from New Balance and they fit her beautifully . You have to break the Berks in but after that they are the most comfortable things ever .

I’ve had this problem too. There seem to be two types of Spezials, with and without a transparent sole, and the ones without are wider - on my feet anyway but maybe the way that they’re cut!

Depending on budget, Sargasso and Grey are very nice and specifically for wide feet. Calla are designed for bunions so they're wide across the toe and regular at the ankle. You might find something at Hotter, they aren't totally unstylish.

I have really wide feet and love my Birkinstocks. I have several pairs now including Arizona, Madrid and Bostons.

for trainers it’s usually Skechers or Nike - air force ones are quite wide so they are my current go to.
