Please help me with the ultimate shoes for wide feet

I have incredibly wide and sensitive feet. They rub no matter what, shoes that are broken in one day can rub the next. I need (at least) three pairs of shoes for the summer:

1. a light pair of trainers. I like adidas but have mixed experience with rubbing
2. a pair of sandals. Birkenstock style appeals to me, but I want them to be good for wide feet. ideally they’d also have a strap at the back so I can wear them to work
3. a dressier pair of sandals for evenings.

please help!

My feet are very wide and I always struggle. I also don’t like spending more than I have to. Have a look At cotton traders, I have had a few pairs of loafers from them. They do an adjustable sandal like a Birkenstock with a sling back. I have also just got some Birkenstock style ones from heavenly feet. Widerfit shoes have a good selection but they are not cheap. I always buy NewBalance trainers, expensive but they are comfortable. Also look at Debenhams “good for the sole”for dressier shoes and sandals

I recently treated myself to some lejan barefoot trainers ... soooo comfortable on my very wide feet and also stylish, I cannot stop wearing them (and I have nearly tripped over several times admiring them whilst I walk 😁)

I have wide feet too, and can be prone to blisters. For casual sandals, I wear Birkenstock Arizona in the wide fit. Trainers, I find Nike Court Low Vision nice and wide. Also have some Skechers slip ins, but the ones that look like plimsolls rather than the arch support ones. For dressier sandals, would Saltwaters fit the bill? I find them wide enough for me, and the rose gold are pretty dressy. If you’re wanting heels, Next do wide and extra wide, New Look wide fit and Primark have wide options too.

I have flat, wide, sensitive hypermobile feet, I feel your pain (literally, wore the wrong sandals round the pool today, covered in blisters now). The only footwear I've ever worn with no issues whatsoever have been fitflop sandals. The original toe post style and the platform fisherman style. Trainers wise Ive tried hundreds unsuccessfully. I've had some luck with Skechers but had to try on a few styles, ended up with the slip in white leather look pumps.

Birkenstocks Arizonas are super comfortable and I have very wide feet :)

Also have super wide feet. My trainers are Hoka Gaviota 5 in Wide fit. Not cheap but very wide and comfortable. Have had mine for a year and will buy again when these wear out (they are still in great condition).

I have hobbit wide feet and would like some sandals in particular too. Depending on your foot size, mens shoes tend to be wider- even at the same size, so maybe try some of those for trainers.

Years ago I bought a few pairs of heels and sandals from clarks. I actually bought a pair of wide fit from pavers this year, but I hate the store layout and it was an absolute fluke whilst there with a friend. Rather than wide fit being in 1 section, you need to check every label which is a PITA.

They have a section in my store. That said, I found some yesterday in a 'normal' section.

Careful with the rocket dogs - they seem to come in 2 flavours - some are lovely and wide, others are too narrow - but I have a few boots from them (as well as plimpsolls) and they're comfortable and wide enough.

New Balance are the only trainers I've ever bought (in the extra wide) that have actually given me enough room.

I've never found comfortable sandals.

Marks and Spencer have occasionally had (ok, a bit frumpy) more formal style heels that fit (I also have very small feet, so high heels for small, wide feet are highly unusual).

Otherwise it's crocs and uggs.

I’m interested in some of the less chunky new balances - do they do them in wide fit?

I have ridiculously small feet and refer to them as hooves.

When Duo did shoes as well as boots as I was in heaven but they stopped 😭 some brands don’t even do small enough for me.

I follow a shoemaker on FB who I believe is a mumsnetter - I seem to remember a thread where we all followed each others small businesses.

Ruth Emily Davey is a shoemaker in Wales who makes bespoke shoes, boots and and sandals to fit your exact foot measurements. May be worth a little look?

I have a wide toe box and struggle with finding nice trainers too. Ive recently been buying mens trainers as they are a wider fit than women's. Just a shame there isn't the same range of pretty colours

LOL - me too! They're basically bricks - and my toes are so short I don't even know how they fit 2 joints into them :)

I have no idea about the chunky New Balances - my filters are straight on the widest - It is the case that there's a lot less choice if you want the wide ones though, so don't get your hopes up.

Wanted to add this company that do lovely wide fit shoes, alas they don’t do small enough for me. I nearly cried when I ordered and they were just slightly too long in the smallest size.

I have wide feet and have New Balance trainers, in a wide fitting and a mens size. They are wide enough for me which I'm not sure I've ever experienced before!!!

Please look into barefoot shoes. Wide toe boxes with various brands catering to narrow/medium/wide/extra wide feet. Look up Barefoot Brit on Facebook.

I’m with you all the way. Wide feet are an absolute bugbear. Just had to buy a pair of shoes for an event where sandals are not allowed. Not enough time to buy online so local high street. Shout out to New Look wide fit ballet pumps less than £20. Obviously not leather but ultra soft and so far so good. Saw a recommendation on here for Compede stick so have invested in one incase these begin to rub.
I have bought Marks and Spencer Birkenstock style sandal which are adjustable and have been fine. I also have a couple of pairs of wide fit from Clark’s that have never rubbed. Sadly Clark’s seem to have gone downhill with their choices.

I have wide, sensitive, hypermobile feet which blister horribly. I got some nice red/pink trainers from Next in extra wide which I can get my insoles in. For pretty shoes I swear by Sole Bliss. They are expensive, but so comfy
and you can often pick them up on Vinted. The Ruby platform sandals are my favourite

BarefootBrit has a great blog about different barefoot shoes, and there are some really nice ones now. I have narrow feet so probably won’t wear the same brands as you, but if you’re used to shoes being too tight or rubbing, some of the barefoot brands will likely change your life!
