What jackets are we wearing with barrel legged jeans?

Surprised myself to have bought some barrel jeans today and how much they suit me. I’m good for tops but wondering what jackets you wear with yours?

I can’t bring myself to do double denim.

Bonus points for links to said jackets!

Just spotted these shackets on the Tu website. I think they would work really well with barrel leg jeans/trousers.

They are nice and a good range of colours, but they've got a bit of a cheek to describe them as 'linen' when that constitutes just 12% of the fabric blend. I suppose at least all of the composite fabrics are made of natural fibres though, so I'll let them off this time!

I've got 2 pairs of White Stuff barrel legs from autumn 2021. I think they will be around for a while.

I seem to remember these getting a lot of love last summer.

The shape is good but not the lack of a collar or the bulky shoulder pads.

Cropped blazer or fitted leather jacket. Hits at waist. Balances the wide leg. Avoid long cardigans or anything below hip. You want shape up top, volume below. Try Zara, Mango, Uniqlo. No double denim.

Really like this but the number of buttons would put me off wearing it .
It could be worn undone but looks better fastened

Why is my link so much bigger than everyone else's?

I'm not crazy about the lack of collar, but I could live with it. The shoulder pads on the other hand... :-/ They really aren't obvious in the photographs and aren't mentioned in the description, so I didn't realise.

Would they be easy to remove do you think, or are they stitched in to the seam?

That happens to me on MN too! It never lets me highlight text and add a link behind it, either.

I read recently if you delete the text after the question mark the link is much smaller and still
works. I tried it and it worked.

Luckily I was already a fan of this style before barrel legs came in!
I already have cropped boxy shackets in a mink faux suede, oatmeal tweed(ish) and a heavy plaid version.
Not to mention denim and cord jackets.

My main issue is that I'm a serial untucker when it comes to my tee shirts so I keep having to tuck them back in before I leave the house!😄

@FannyCradocksDoughnut i might give them a try if there were more colours, I really don’t need another black jacket and the other colours aren’t me. Not sure I’d suit the collarless style. But I do see they are popular again this year and a versatile jacket.

Mine is the shorter boxy funnel neck polka dot one from Tu. but there’s others out there.

Some of the boxy t shirts work untucked with barrel leg. Interestingly, I have a pair of carrot leg and they don't work with boxy tops at all. A fitted ribbed top or t untucked for them, which I'm sure is not what's recommended in the style pages

I am very tempted to buy some Barrel Legged trousers ( more chino like than jeans ) , I am fed up with looking at trousers and they're all wide legged .

But ....now the jackets have been decided , what shoes with Barrel Leg ?

I bought this from M&S and it’s been so easy to wear. Looks particularly good with jeans.

As a rule “When the jeans are bigger the shoes are smaller”

So a narrow trainer

A pointed shoe

A sandal

A narrow fitted boot that goes up under the hemline.

If the shoe got any bulk to it, it can’t come too high up the front as you need to see ankle and foot to give a slimness under the jeans.

No clumpy trainers. No wide boots that stand away from your ankle.

Or if you want to poop all over 'the rules' chunky brogues or loafers, DM boots or chunky sandals.
I think almost anything goes with barrel legs depending on what look you are going for.
