Help me find a 100% cotton shirt dress pleeeaaaaase!

I’ve seen people suggest brands on here that I’d never heard of before so I’m hoping someone has seen something!

size 12

budget up to around £125

If I could find something this shape:

in 100% cotton, in maybe a slightly stronger, warmer colour (or cream) that would be ideal! (I am a bright spring)

So, knee length, tailored, not baggy or oversized etc. it just seems like there should be a million but they’re all polyester!

I looked up that company as I hadn't heard of it - it's a German one, founded in 1919, that started out as a manufacturer of men's shirts. So their tailoring should be good?

Lots of quite interesting cuts if you look at their own website. I try to avoid Amazon purchases myself, as I hate to think I'm funding Jeff's dick pics & rocket launches (or are they one & the same thing?!) & Lauren's plastic surgery any more than necessary!

I'm not a stripe wearer myself (except maybe as a skirt) but the last cotton voile one is really striking & a great cut.

This one is almost 100% cotton OP - they classify it as a blend, but it's just got a tiny bit of elastane in it. They also describe it as satin but I think they mean cotton sateen/satinised cotton.

Ditto with this one, which I really like. Comes in black, navy & blue.

Makes me think of Cate Blanchett in Tár for some reason! That slightly prim but quite sexy buttoned-up look.

The Trustpilot reviews are poor.

I got a Lidl dark denim shirt dress last year, ten quid, its amazing, I look fab in it. Looks like the dark denim of a lot of these here but a fraction of the price. Size down also

82% cotton. I must say, this brand is a revelation for shirtdress lovers! Just wish that more came in other colours than blue, or white, or blue & white stripes!

No recommendation - on the contrary Several parts ordered, express surcharge paid - delivery was supposed to arrive the next working day by 12 noon. Nothing arrived. Customer service contacted. No response whatsoever. To this day, nothing has arrived, money is gone. Nothing happens upon enquiry. Case unresolved.

Worst service I have ever experienced. I returned 6 items in ONE box. Apparently, the returns department was already overwhelmed! I was only credited with 5 items. After my complaint, I had to prove that the 6th item was indeed in the box. I had to write an email via the contact form on the website, then I was sent a form for a statutory declaration, which I had to complete fully with item numbers etc. Endless work, and this despite it not being my fault, but the company Seidensticker should actually be apologising to me for the inconvenience. But they are far from that! The rudeness and tasks imposed on me as a customer never end. Abysmal behaviour and unmatched audacity! If the goods are not reimbursed, I will take legal action. Unbelievable that a company still behaves like this in today's times …. Please take this as a warning

In November 2025 I ordered a Seidensticker turtleneck jumper (cotton). Unfortunately, I immediately noticed that the seam of a cuff on the sleeve was poorly sewn. A disappointment, as I had expected more quality for the price and the Seidensticker brand. My disappointment was even greater regarding the complaint handling by Seidensticker. Weeks of being placated, only for the complaint to ultimately be rejected. Absolutely unworthy of a brand like Seidensticker.

ohh, good point! I personally tend to rather like cotton/linen blends but you explicitly stated 100% cotton, so that wouldn’t work for you. I hope my list was still helpful (or at least provided some window shopping experience)…😅

Really? Wow. Two of my trustiest blouses are Seidensticker… but that seems really unprofessional to me! 😱 I’m sorry that happened to you.

I've not ordered. Those were example reviews I cut from trustpilot, put through the online translator and pasted here.
The reviews were 5star or 1star with not much in between.

Ah… I was wondering why you ordered twice. So that makes considerably more sense than my initial guesses😅

I will however say that I’ve never ordered from them directly. Either bought in an actual store and the last few times ordered via larger online retailers.

Almost all about service rather than quality though - & they've replied to each one of the poor reviews very courteously & apologetically. And it seems some of the dissatisfied customers were miffed because they bought from a shop, not online (so they have to go through the retailer if that's the case).

Lots of glowing reviews too. I realise it's hard to tell without personal experience, but on an overall 4.1 rating I'd still try their dresses.

@TheWildZebra don’t worry, I have been trawling Vinted too, but I find it helpful sometimes to know which brands are recommended by real people because then I can look for those second hand.

I am wondering whether to try a cotton/linen blend, because I’ve only had pure linen before and it just creased so easily and made me look like I’d just rolled out of bed haha but maybe a blend would be better?

I looked at a few but only translated 3. Poor quality was mentioned especially for the non-wrinkle shirts.

Ordering from a shop might be better. (Amazon isn't really a shop, it's a marketplace)

@AllFloatOn , cotton-linen is OK. It sort of looks unrumpled not crumpled.

Definitely try a blend. A linen & viscose blend is also good for reduced creasing.

Also Seidensticker - I really like the pussy-bow styles. I know they're not shirt-dresses in the proper sense - but they're great!

I’ve seen loads that I think look good. It’s just that I’m personally quite limited to what actually looks good on me 😂. I would love to be Jodie Comer and be able to wear really out-there clothes!

I too stick to what I think would suit me. The pussy bow styles would probably look a bit 'Grayson Perry's nan' on me.
