That's a disappointing gwp. More PK, looks like the skin cycles eye masks from the calendar, is that the wild source cleansing balm and some AB things too? Calendar and beauty drop leftovers attatched to a huge spend.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a less tempting offer. PK, Bamford and no full sized anything. They must think we’ve got more money than sense.

To be honest I would rather pay £90 or so for a decent kit than £200 to get a shite GWP. The liberty kits are usually really good especially the scent ones although the for her one was a bit random.
Need another few decent liberty kits.

The advent calendar thing is getting quite big now too with AC season starting in July and a lot of competition between the major players.

They need to start a summer advent calendar season (which will start in February)

Completely agree had some great liberty kits, I’m happy with that night cream from the box too - 10 ml was at least a good size of an expensive product.

I would like a fragrance only AC like Harrods or smaller specific AC or kit party make up for the Xmas period

That GWP is dreadful for a £300 spend. More Elasticiser and lots of stuff which has appeared in the Beauty Drop! I’m beginning to wonder if someone is putting Elasticiser in for a joke now. I think the days of amazing GWPs are long gone. It’s a shame because I did discover some great products with previous GWPs.

I wonder if Liberty struggle to get brands to offer or offer decent sizes these days? Maybe gwp don't translate into enough sales and repeat customers compared to sending products to TikTok or Insta influencers with a large reach.

I think the issue is that with Beauty Drop etc Liberty’s beauty business is doing well without the need to create great GWPs to tempt spending, so they don’t need to offer the level of incentive to spend that they have in the past. I think the brands must also feel under less pressure to give away generous freebies to be included in GWPs if sales are good enough without doing so.

Liberty’s kits, while still often decent, have a higher price to value ratio than in the past - now usually “value” is around 3 times price, used to be closer to 4 times price - and they are prepared to wait to get them sold at their chosen price point rather than get quick sales. This also suggests they are prioritising maintaining profit margins over quick cash, in an environment where they are doing well enough to support this. (As an aside, the 2025 jewellery advent is STILL on sale - marked down to £595 in January but not reduced further after that…)

Contrast to 2020/2021 when the physical shop was closed due to Covid and they did the amazing Iphis bag GWPs; a great way to shift some beauty stock and get a quick influx of much needed cash flow. Those GWPs sold out within a few of hours.

It's a great way for brands to get exposure ( see also, advent calendars) but why PK think they need yet more exposure idk. Does anyone actually buy elasticizer rather than just wait for the next kit?

Byredo were in everything a couple of years ago but have toned it down a lot, probably think they have established themselves now. Similarly kilian was in a lot of ACs last year but I wonder if they will be this year.must be a balancing act, if they overdo it people just pick up the samples / smaller sizes off vinted and ebay and won't buy the full size/ price

I must have started my Liberty obsession at the tail end of Byredo, but I am absolutely obsessed with their lipsticks off the back of the AC 🥰

Looked at the price of the night cream! Yikes.

I've bought a few bits from the brand in TK Maxx.

My gwp arrived. Often I see these and they look disappointing in the photos but when they arrive they are much better than they looked. Sadly, this one is disappointing in the flesh too.lm just glad I was planning on buying something £300 anyway because usually I buy stuff just to get the gwp and this really isn’t worth it.

Philip Kingsley is funny because I always used to think of it as a bit luxurious and a bit of a treat. Did it even come with a little hair net once or am I imagining that?

Now it's everywhere and you get it in beauty boxes and free samples, it has cheapened it. I wouldn't be surprised to find it in B&M.

I guess brands have to make that decision. Stay exclusive but smaller sales or aim for the larger market and lose that specialness. I suppose with so many dupes around, it's especially hard to justify the price for exclusivity.
