Genuine question about people feeling funny about emu oil who aren't veggie/vegan - don't you eat geletine and do you make sure any urea products aren't animal based? Do use use feather bedding and down coats?

I'm not being preachy. Use/don't use what you like. It's just always interesting why one animal product freaks people out but another doesn't.

I've tried the foot cream. It has made my feet unbelievably itchy! I'm not sure anyone would ve interested in a lightly used foot cream so it will probably end up on the bin.

A cruelty free/vegan (bizarrely they aren't mutually exclusive) box would be great.

Don’t bin it. I really like it and would be happy to buy it from you.

@HaveYouHadYourBreak I agree, it's irrational for me to eat meat but not like the idea of emu oil. I think it's because I dont eat emu that it makes me feel funny (although I don't tend to use/eat products with gelatine or urea in either) I do think if animals are bred for meat (including emus) that we should use as much of them as possible, so from that standpoint it makes sense to use it as an ingredient. I really don't like the texture so I dont know how much that plays into it for me.

IlovePond · 17/04/2026 15:04

I don’t eat meat/gelatin(e) products and don’t have down/feathers/fur in the house either. Leather, yes - for whatever reason, that doesn’t bother me.

I am not as scrupulous as I probably would wish on avoiding animal products in my skincare, but I wouldn’t rub beef fat on myself, so emu oil seems equally disgusting. I am still feeling somewhat revolted that I put the stuff on my feet unknowingly!

I think it was a weird choice to put into the BD box as I am sure I am not the only one who has used it without realising and then felt sick. I think it should at least have had a big sticker on it with EMU on it 😹 (I know it’s listed on the ingredients but it is not the sort of thing I expected to find in a foot cream - but now I know!)

For those who love it, the good news is that there is likely to be a lot of it on eBay and Vinted very shortly!

IlovePond · 17/04/2026 16:40

On a related note:

Some of you may have read my post last year about when DS1 bought me horse oil body lotion in S Korea. At least that product very helpfully had a picture of a cute horse on the front.

Just neigh! 🐴

(I made him leave it in his hotel after suggesting he probably shouldn’t bring animal products home on the plane!)

A little reel about the box on liberty London facebook page, mixed comments about the contents so far

Toomuchstufff · 17/04/2026 18:13

Any one else found despite adding things to basket from the offer email that it won’t apply the relevant discount?

Yes I can’t get the discount to apply for innersense hair stuff. I’ve emailed them and had a response to make sure I’m logged in which I am. It’s taken all day to respond so I'm
not sure I will get a response now before the offer ends tonight.

At least you got a response I guess although sounds pretty unhelpful. I am also logged in as it shows a discount for the beauty kit but I was waiting to buy conditioner :(

I assume this is the Hourglass luggage tag GWP this weekend https://www.instagram.com/reel/DVz5YJyEiY9 Not sure it would motivate me to spend £120

The stitching on some of those is awful if they are trying to convince people it's a luxury product.

Which beauty kit?

It's cute but no, doesn't convince me either.

Nearlyhealthy · 18/04/2026 14:22

Working my way through the products, the foot lotion is great (I’ve had it before so know I like it and as I’m not a vegetarian it doesn’t ick me out). The handcream though is terrible. It smells weird and the runny texture makes it really hard to use. Shame it’s the biggest product!

Beautyfox · 18/04/2026 20:30

I went instore today and to my surprise they had a bath and body beauty kit just waiting there for me. I felt like a child at Christmas but I’m so please I got one and lesson learnt for next time.
customer services also agreed
to honour the 20% off hair care from yesterday because the products I wanted (innersense) should have been discounted.

so a good day today but maybe not for my bank balance.

Latest beauty gift has landed in email. Spend £300 for a £394 gift…. I won’t be rushing for this one

BCSurvivor · 21/04/2026 08:10

That's a HUGE minimum spend for a GWP!
I couldn't get the full details of the contents as the Liberty link wasn't clickable when it was in my basket, but it didn't look as if it contained anything new really.

IDontHateRainbows · 21/04/2026 08:20

Yeah they are losing it if they expect people to spend that much money for what isn't the most amazing GWP anyway.

mooshkymoo · 21/04/2026 08:22

I spy with my little eye, something beginning with….. E!

AprilLady · 21/04/2026 08:26

Very disappointing. There is actually a perfume I want, and had the spend been more sensible I might have gone for it (It’s a Frederic Malle one, which was excluded from the fragrance offer). But the minimum spend is way too high and the GWP looks very underwhelming. I can’t believe how much worse the GWPs have got over the last couple of years. For comparison, this was the April 2023 gift: £175 spend for a gift worth over £400 (including a full size Liberty candle and a VP 10ml perfume).

Not the one with also a P and a K? Nooooo

CambersHabituee · 21/04/2026 08:37

I tried the night cream from the box last night - it is impressive I do look more rested. I’d have been tempted if the GWP was better to buy it…it’s annoying you can’t see full contents but definitely looks like usual suspects.

CambersHabituee · 21/04/2026 08:37

I wonder if the beauty industry as a whole is moving away from GWPs to kits - they generally seem to be doing much better with those across liberty, CB, Space etc.
