Easter is here and so is a new thread. Who needs chocolate when you can have beauty stuff? Or maybe have both. 💋🍫

Welcome to newbies and welcome back veterans of beauty chat threads.

PS. As a sobering thought we are maybe only 3-4 months out from the first advent calendar spoiler. 😂

Are cashback websites worth using? If so, which ones should I join? I’ve never used anything like that apart from Avios via my Amex.

psuedocream3 · 07/04/2026 09:15

I was doing so well with not spending this month, but I've just bought the Hourglass deer pallette for £41.40, I couldn't really pass it up for that price. I hope it is lovely as it looks.

psuedocream3 · 07/04/2026 09:24

@user593 Absolutely. Depends what you're buying. If I'm using discount codes I usually go through vouchercodes as most cashback sites decline cashback when codes or giftcards are used, two VIP retailers a month gives you £5 back.Sometimes they do offers like an extra bonus of £10 on a £50 spend as well. I did the £40 back on a £140 spend on Harvey Nichols recently and stocked up on OUAI gift sets that were half price.

Cheddar and Jamdoughnut are good for getting cashback on gift cards. A referral gives you arond a £5 cashback bonus too. I bought a £140 HN voucher and got £14.00 cashback which I could withdraw immediiately.

Topcashback and Quidco are ok for cashback too, but check the rates, and if you are using codes or gifcards then vouchercodes is a safer bet.

user593 · 07/04/2026 09:29

@psuedocream3 Thank you! Vouchercodes won’t let me access the website (it thinks I’m a bot, presumably because I’m overseas!) but I’ll definitely check it out once I’m home.

I've just tried my £10 voucher and it says it's not an active offer 😕

This was the issue I had regardless of what was in my basket.

That's what mine did. Still in messages with them. 🤔 want order number it came with. Then voucher number, screenshot, etc. Hard work

Thelifeofawife · 07/04/2026 10:51

@psuedocream3 or others - I wonder if you have issues with cashback like I do. Often my bank (NatWest) decides that I need to authorise the payment, so of course it takes me off the retailer page and I have to approve the payment in the banking app.
I also have issues whereby if I’m purchasing from somewhere that I use an app for (ie SNK) it doesn’t track the cashback because an app is launched rather than a webpage

psuedocream3 · 07/04/2026 11:06

@Thelifeofawife I only use my laptop for orders, but use my phone for bank authorisation, which doesnt take me off the page on my laptop. Could that be an option for you? If it doesn't track properly you can submit a claim, most sites are really good at sorting it. I think the only one I've had an issue with, is topcashback on car insurance cashback - but I think the retailer just didn't want to pay out rather than an actual issue.

It is a lovely palette and am sure you will love it - absolute bargain at that price.

I put the code for my £10 off in the gift card space and it says it's not long enough to be a gift card reference!

ETA oh I have found now where I am supposed to put it and also getting the 'not an active offer' message

I guess it depends who you get in customer service because I didn't have to do this. I just quoted the codes that weren't working.

IlovePond · 07/04/2026 12:10

@user593 - I was reluctant to use TCB and Quidco for ages because I didn’t understand how they worked. Once I signed up I wondered why I hadn’t done it earlier! Sometimes they will let you use a discount code - it’s always worth checking. I always log onto both sites before purchasing anything online and go with the one offering the best deal.

I have had quite a lot of money back via TCB, mainly because I persuaded DH and DSIS to use my referral code and that gave me extra c/b.

I haven’t got my head round vouchercodes yet.

pinkchampagne1 · 07/04/2026 13:08

My FTF order is processing. I’m thinking of ordering a second one but I have spent too much recently. Just over Easter weekend, we booked a few days in Croatia and a new mattress! 😳 I do have lots of serums to get through too.

We are away for a few days and I have tried the Malin & Goetz vitamin E moisturiser from the CB gwp. I really like it

Any recommendations of hair care to buy from SNK, particularly Oribe? I want to go for the GWP but the only hair care I had on my wish list is kerastase, which SNK don't sell. If you spend £70 on Oribe you get both the SNK GWP and an Oribe GWP, and I fancy trying the brand but haven't tried it before so not sure what to go for.

By the way if anyone else is considering the GWP, a couple of edits count towards the £70 spend on haircare (the 'I do' edit and the party edit, maybe some others)

I really like the Oribe mirror treatment. You put it in once per week or even every 2 and it gives it a lovely softness and shine. I had a sample of it from somewhere so have been holding off ordering until a good offer so I’ve ordered it today. I also added the conditioner to take it over the threshold for the Oribe free gift. However, I’ve never tried the conditioner before.

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter
There’s a new beauty box from Boots, Spring Skincare Refresh, which looks nice for £30. Not the most exciting products, but some I will use and the others give to DS, who likes skin care too 😍. The bag it comes in looks good. I got one of these lay-flat bags in metallic blue with the Clarins showstopper set the Christmas before last, and it’s really good. Hopefully this one will be nice too

And if anyone likes Bobbi Brown make up, QVC have a good offer on today as the TDV deal

@AlPaccacino From the John Lewis beauty sale, they update stock daily and my JL rewards 10% off skincare voucher seemed to work on it too. It's worth a look daily as they've had some really great bargains. Harvey Nichols beauty sale recently had the swan pallete for around £48, I'm not sure how often they update stock though.

The Gold Lust range is nice albeit pricey.

I find TCB very hit and miss. If it's under a couple of quid I usually just let it go but the worst one was Liberty during one of their member weeks last year. They had a decent cashback offer and I spent a lot as I bought some trainers and jewellry amongst other stuff. Cash back due was £30-40 and they tried to tell TCB that it wasn't eligible as I'd returned some of the order (I most definitely hadn't). TCB ended up honouring the cashback as a gesture of goodwill so I don't know whether they knew Liberty were wrong.

Ive got a £10 fragrance voucher. But free delivery when you spend 30. Added jo malone for 18. Doesnt seem worth it somehow 😄

Doglover73 · 07/04/2026 18:29

The Boots looks good for the price

Doglover73 · 07/04/2026 18:31

I added 2 of the inked list mini cleansers to cult order to try to get free postage but the boots is a better deal. After all that I may not bother getting perfume from cult 🤣
