These shoes yes or no?

Im not sure if these are still in vogue or not. I like the brown ones as they would go with everything and black is too harsh for summer.
They are fisherman type without enclosed toes...I prefer toes out. I normally wreck my hip replacement in heels but I want something flat for jeans this summer.
Opinions please.

I also bought these in the Van Dal sale and I think they will take me anywhere and go with everything.

I like the Clarks but not the Van Dal.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 25/03/2026 06:50

I wouldn’t say they’re in vogue or not, fisherman sandals are usually stylish.

OhDear111 · 25/03/2026 06:53

Not great. A bit clunky and not stylish. There’s better available. M&S have some good ones that are fishermen’s sandals.

Neveranynamesleft · 25/03/2026 06:59

I like both. It really is up to you, it doesn't matter what other people think tbh, , if you like them, wear them. All the ' it isn't in fashion ' kind of talk is ridiculous IMO.

Gettingbysomehow · 25/03/2026 09:23

The brown ones arent the kind of thing I would normally wear. I have to buy from a limited number of shops because of my stupidly wide feet.
Im not sure if they look like something I would have worn in primary school!
I love the van dal ones but would only wear with trousers as an everyday slip on and run shoe and all their shoes suit my square feet.

I dont like the second pair at all

Im funny with sandals, I dont really like them, your picture looks good until you see them on the feet. I find that when I try things on, I like them on the shelf but then once I put them on I dont like them

Twoshoesnewshoes · 25/03/2026 09:27

I think go for a chunkier wedge sole OP, those are quite mumsy

PadamPadamPDoom · 25/03/2026 09:30

I’ll be honest - I wouldn’t choose either. There are a million more stylish looking fisherman’s style sandals. And the others are the blandest pair of shoes I’ve ever seen.

I doubt your feet are wider than mine. For the last few years my everyday shoes and boots have come from

You’ve just missed their sale, when several things, including sandals, went down to High St prices.

Clarks Maybe
Van Dal No

StylishAndBeautiful · 25/03/2026 09:35

The Grenson site doesn't work for me. I like their shoes but I am put off because it won't let me see the shoes. I have told them.

WednesdaysChild73 · 25/03/2026 09:37

50+ here and hell no to both!

Like so many shops they might do wide but not half sizes sadly.my right foot is a 5 and my left is 5.5 so I can only wear 5.5 anything else is too tight or falling off.
I love the van dal ones so Im definitely getting those.
Clarkes also do a chunkier one but Ive tried chunky and they dont suit me.
Frankenstein 😀

It's the open toe style is what's wrong with them.

There's a reason why the Van Dal ones are such a bargain.

You like them so get them.

Back21970 · 25/03/2026 10:01

I like the Clarks ones - would go with most things throughout the summer I think.

Not as keen on the other pair - I always slip out of those kind of shoes.

Decent price though if you will wear them.

thirtyfourpercent · 25/03/2026 10:01

Hotter does wide fit and half sizes. If you like their styles and they aren’t available in a shop near you, paying in advance ensures they’ll order in then refund upon collection.

RaraRachael · 25/03/2026 10:38

I like the Clarks ones but the Van Dal remind me of something my mother and her cronies would have worn.

watchingthishtread · 25/03/2026 13:47

Clarks -Yes. Van Dal - No.

Laiste · 25/03/2026 13:58

No to both, sorry.

I like Birkenstock with the single strap across the foot (Madrid) for proper walking and Havianas or fit flop flip flops for general stuff.

For smart with trousers in the summer i'd go kitten heel sling back sandals.

I have wide feet and got some lovely fisherman sandals from toast they are the comfy sandals and fisherman sandals are in again x

GloiredeDijon · 25/03/2026 14:10

They look comfortable which is a refreshing change.

Other than that I think they are both fairly neutral so wouldn’t draw the eye meaning you could wear them with a variety of clothes.

Width wise have you tried Hotter? Some people here seem to sneer at them but I have several pairs in shoes, boots, trainers and sandals and absolutely love them.

The other brand I find great for wide feet is Heavenly Feet which is actually a vegan brand but you wouldn’t know it.

Gettingbysomehow · 25/03/2026 14:39

I do have some Hotter sandals Gloire. I have tourist 2 in leopsrd and also in gold. They are so comfortable I cant tell you and I can walk for miles.

Im not sure about the clarkes but I shall model the van dals when they arrive.

Viviennemary · 25/03/2026 14:50

They're not very attractive and look quite old fashioned. But if they're comfortable just keep them for casual wesr.

Same. The sandals are really nice.
