This is the thread where we are all bright orange from Vitamin C overload. Luckily we have a truck load of Bronze Primer to cover it up. 😂

Last thread was probably another speed run record. Let's hope there's no March Madness. We're in need of a break.😳

As always anyone welcome to join and contribute. Although you shouldn't if you know what's good for you. 😉

Oh, and just to clarify: this is not from the actual bottle of vitamin c from the GWP, I haven't opened that yet. This is from using a genuine c-tetra advanced that I bought directly from medik8 in January and have been using for about a month. It's not an instant reaction, something that's built up over time

Arrearing50 · 03/03/2026 12:13

Just joining new Fred.

JoRaRaRa · 03/03/2026 12:24

Oh no! The C-Tetra Advanced is meant to be non-acidic. That makes me scared to try it now 🙁

TragicMuse · 03/03/2026 12:36

I hope it calms down quickly @namechange0998776554799000

Does anyone have any guidance on Rodial Dragon’s Blood sculpting gel? I have a tube from oh ages back.

How have you used it? Is there anything I should look out for?

user593 · 03/03/2026 12:53

My DP and I have both been using the C-Tetra Advanced every morning for over a month without any issues. I started the Crystal Retinal 3 around the same time and now use that every night as well.

I had one flare up below my eye when I stupidly used a particularly aggressive exfoliating mask whilst still introducing the Crystal Retinal but otherwise it’s been fine.

MotherofTerriers · 03/03/2026 12:58

My parcel from the fairy arrived, but it only has the two glow bags and no gift for all goodybag. I've messaged, hope they send out the missing one.

I really hate to say it, but I also have a rash on my jawline and think the medik8 vitamin c might be to blame 😬 I figured this out after buying the GWP and have been feeling really bad seeing so many people buy it so I really hope it's just me - I do have sensitive skin.

I put a photo of the rash/spots into chatGPT and it told me it's skin barrier damage due to either the vitamin c or retinol and to stop both for 2-3 weeks and see if it clears up. But I've only been using medik8 retinal 1, which is very mild, 3 times a week, so I feel the vitamin c is the more likely culprit. I was also using that 3 times a week (on retinol days).

I've cut out all actives for now and I'm using one of the barrier repair serums from the CB radiance edit, and the centella cream from the Boots mask freebie. If it clears up in a few weeks I'm going to try reintroducing retinol and see whether it was that or the vitamin c that was the problem. I will report back!

Th medik 8 ret 1 was very drying for my skin do stopped using. I intended going onto ret as I had a few from snk edit but sold in vinted as my skin clearly couldn't tolerate the ret 1.
My skins ok atm with the medik 8 c from gwp thankfully.
My skin loves the c tetra so was hoping it would like it.
Maybe it was overuse. Im guilty of it as want quick results but my skin lts me know its not happy. Ive had similar spots. Also spf is important. I do forget it though sometimes. So much to remember 💓
Hope it helps quickly for you x

OvaHere · 03/03/2026 13:08

I've used the Medik8 advanced Vit C for a while now with no issues. It's just the risk we take with products we've never tried before. You never know what you'll have sensitivity to.

Any unopened Medik8 will sell easily on ebay or vinted I expect. Lightly used products can be sold on via the Skincare Freaks FB group - people there are always in search of Medik8 products on a deal.

The only retinol serum that hasn't dried out my skin is the eve lom one. For others, I use a buffer serum when using retinol and never use more then 3 nights in a row. I'm currently using a Dr barbara sturm serum but my next one will be a Byoma one. I like a moisturiser which has spf so I don't have to think about putting spf on top 🤣

I’ve got really Victorian maid skin, swoons and overreacts to the tiniest change, and it hasn’t even noticed I’ve been slathering on the Fairy CB C-Tetra Advanced every morning.

And this is skin that full-on flushed with redness when I moved home (6 miles), and the water was different!

I'm the same. It's strange what we react to. I've found most actives fine bar glycolic acid - that does react a bit but it does also settle down quickly so if I use it on an evening it's fine by the next morning.

I find I'm more reactive to some natural ingredients. Plant based extracts and also the very low weight molecular hyalluronic acid.

I was only using the medik 8 ret 1 twice a week my skin just didnt like it.
My skin appears to love the decree thankfully as ive a few in stock 🤣
My skin appears to not like niacinamide x

user593 · 03/03/2026 13:49

I’ve been using the Laniege Cica Sleep Mask (old formula) most nights to try and counteract any irritation from the retinol. I started on every 3 nights, then every 2 nights and now I can use it every night but I suspect if I’d gone too strong too soon it would have been a disaster. I’m also having laser hair removal and micro needling so whenever I have an appointment I have to break for a week.

namechange0998776554799000 · 03/03/2026 14:02

My skin was ok before chemo (two years ago). Since then it is very reactive. I imagine my age/peri also doesn't help. Plus I wonder if I irritated that area by getting dermaplaning. When my hair grew back I had peach fuzz and dermaplaning was excellent for removing it, but when I got it done a second time I felt like it left the skin on my jawline rougher.

I have been doing all the right things with the retinol - building up slowly, layering, never two nights in a row, always wearing spf. But maybe it's just too much for my skin. Or the vitamin c was too high a concentration for me, I hadn't been using any before so I probably should have started lower. When I told chatGPT all of my history it told me off for even trying retinol and vitamin c 😆 So hopefully this is a 'me' issue and the vitamin c will be fine for the rest of you.

I find it frustrating because I keep reading about how 'vitamin c + retinol/tret + SPF is the only/best clinically proven way to improve your skin' but I guess it doesn't work for everyone. My biggest issue is actually pigmentation/sun damage (plus fine lines) so maybe when I restart actives in a few weeks I'll try & focus on that rather than looking for an all-rounder

Sminty2 · 03/03/2026 14:18

@namechange0998776554799000 it’s frustrating having medication mess up our skin. Mine was ruined by biological immunosuppressants, I still can’t go in the sun and I used to live at Bondi Beach! It’s taken years of experimenting with products, times, day, seasons to find something that works. I usually turn into a blistered mess. Even now, something can work for a few weeks and then turn on me, but we just have to keep buying and trying 😊

Those things are shorter cuts to a goal but my friend (67) has never put anything on her face except Pears soap and has soft, glowing, no wrinkles skin. Fortunately, she’s lovely too. My skin hates soap 😂

I sold an unopened one for £32 last week. Prices may have gone down since them as the market floods.

pinkchampagne1 · 03/03/2026 08:20

Vinted have blocked them. 😐 I had had a couple of glasses of wine last night as my DH wasn’t working nights, so that probably didn’t help! I wouldn’t usually spend that much but it looked too good a bargain to leave. Lesson learned! 😣 I really didn’t need it as it does the same as my Foreo Bear. Just hope I get the money refunded. Vinted are usually good at refunding when things go wrong.

How much did you get the La Mer for? I could be tempted by another pot at a good price. Not from a seller with no reviews though! 😳

I was the same when I bought the same kind of thing - I just bought it straight away and was so pleased with the bargain!

I couldn't work out what the point of it was as obviously Vinted don't pay them and do refund the buyer. I think maybe it's something about claiming the delivery company has lost it...

This is my rash, I'd be interested to know if others have the same

My skin doesn't like niacinamide, found out by a process of elimination through a few different products. I had a similar rash. It's annoying because it's actually in so much stuff these days!!

That's interesting because the only other product I was using was the medik8 niacinamide peptides 🙈 I thought niacinamide was mild so I was using that everyday, before the vitamin c/retinol. I just finished the bottle last week!

IlovePond · 03/03/2026 15:56

I hope those of you suffering from the rash have it clear up soon 🤞

I have been using a Vit C serum occasionally on its own on an ‘in the house’ day - the Aldi SR dupe - without any problems, but I am scared of the very idea of retinol so never use it.

@keepincool I have a lot of Aromatica Rosemary hair products in my SK basket but I can’t get my cc on PP to stop adding an extra £15 to my payment. PP have done this before with a new cc but usually if you try again a bit later it resolves itself, but not this time. I tried with a Boots order later but that added £5 on too! According to Google it ‘usually’ results in a refund but no guarantees!

I am debating whether to try my other CC and see if that works instead!

I have also put a lip gloss in my basket as there is a GWP attached! Goodness knows I don’t need any more of those, but I do love a bargain!

IlovePond · 03/03/2026 16:00

In other news, I am keeping the M&S dress because it fits well. It’s nothing exciting but DH said it looks nice and that’s quite unusual. (For a man with zero dress sense, he’s quite critical of clothing when called upon for an opinion!)

I’m going to try my SK basket again. I am working on the basis that I do really want the stuff given I first tried to buy it at 9am and am still thinking about it!

JPMJuliz · 03/03/2026 16:08

Puravida23 · 02/03/2026 17:38

I have tried the the Dr Levy mask twice now and sad to report it didn’t do a lot for me . Bit of a meh product for me unfortunately. (Shame we all have bottles of the stuff now!)
I do like the primer though and have the eye masks chilling in the fridge
Not sure about the exfoliating pads as haven’t tried those yet . Anyone given these a test?

I have it from one of the last year's edits (can't remember which one), and I'm also very meh about it. I'll use up the opened tube, very reluctantly may I add (but then I hate wasting things!), and sell the one coming to me in the GWP from Vinted.

CorneliaStreet · 03/03/2026 16:13

My skin seems to really like niacinamide in low doses but starts to sting if I go up to 10%. I’ve seen a couple of 15% niacinamide serums recently, which seems super strong.

For anyone looking to deal with hyperpigmentation, I saw a good video on YouTube by Dr Shereene Idriss where she talked about the best ingredients for this. Vitamin C and retinol, but she also talked about things like (from memory, I think there were also others) azelaic acid and tranexamic acid which are gentler if you can’t tolerate strong actives.
