Welcome to style mavens old and new to continue our chats.
Hopefully more bling if there's another banquet on the horizon?

I read somewhere that they're purchased in a bigger size and a sort of chilled gel cushion put into the toe end to provide cushioning by some women. I'll try to find the article.

I have tried every sort of insert available and not found that they help.

I really only ever see very high heels on royals or celebs at award shows and premieres these days.

It looks like Char is wearing high heels....

I think Char looks good there and love Gabriella's outfit (and always her facial expressions! She's fab!)😆

KiIIingMeDeftly · 22/03/2026 07:51

Charlene looked spectacular in Elie Saab at the Rose Ball last night.

Yes, gorgeous gown, great proportions on her.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 22/03/2026 08:14

I think it's a rare miss from Beatrice as her Dior appears to be wearing her rather than vice versa. Underwhelming from Caroline too - perhaps she should've worn her daughter's dress and then Alexandra could've gone for something a bit younger and more fun.

Maireas · 22/03/2026 08:24

Charlene looks stunning. I love the dress, one shouldered, with the half cape, it's so elegant. Gorgeous earrings. Beautiful hair and makeup, too. Win!

Nice to see Charlene looking so well.

Maireas · 22/03/2026 08:30

Albert looks smart, the suit is a good fit, and well tailored 👍.
I agree about Caroline, she's normally so stylish. Perhaps if she ditched the metallic jacket, and the dress was longer? It's a shame, because she usually does evening wear so well.
I like the structural design of Beatrice's dress, but something about the front doesn't sit well.
Alexandra's outfit might look better without the coat part, which seems to drown her a bit, nice colour though.
I'm guessing M. Laboutin is wearing a traditional hat?

But it fits well, suits him and he really looks quite dapper in it, hand half in pocket like the King does.

Maireas · 22/03/2026 12:04

Yes, navy blazer, charcoal trousers - both a good fit, and he looks smart.

I've read that men who often appear in public have a particular " pose" they adopt eg Cillian Murphy with the one hand in the pocket. It looks a bit strange though when walking.

Maireas · 22/03/2026 12:17

I remember seeing an interview with Philip, he said he never knew what to do with his hands on engagements. Hands behind the back, became his thing. Maybe hand in pocket is another one.

I have two grandsons that do the hands behind the back thing. It must be good for posture too I would imagine.

Sidebeforeself · 22/03/2026 13:26

Charlenes dress is stunning. I’d like to see it in a stronger colour but it does suit her

Yes, women invariably have a bag to hold which gets round the what to do with your hands issue.

KnickerlessParsons · 22/03/2026 15:47

Edward should know better than to walk downstairs with his hand in his pocket.
He does look smart though - what was he doing at Waterloo station?

SqueakyDinosaur · 22/03/2026 16:45

The Union Jack Club is a club with accommodation for members of the armed forces. It's right by Waterloo - I assume he's its patron. I like the fact that he's carrying a rucksack!

ExcellentDaydream · 22/03/2026 17:14

I walked past there twice yesterday, didn't see him though, that would have been a surprise.

CurlewKate · 22/03/2026 18:04

My son played King Lear once. I was amused by the fact that he played him (in his sane bits)with his hands behind his back. He said he based it on Prince Philip….

I think either earrings or necklace but not both for Lady Kitty there, I'd drop the necklace as it distracts from the neckline. It's a wow dress.
