Welcome to style mavens old and new to continue our chats.
Hopefully more bling if there's another banquet on the horizon?

Father looking beautiful. Birgitte and Anne very glamorous. Not keen on the shade of red Camilla is wearing.

William looks smart. Albert needs to go up a couple of sizes. I wouldn't let DH out looking like that.

HollyhockDays · 09/03/2026 21:38

Kate’s hat was a different shade to the dress.

Halphabetty · 09/03/2026 22:10

I think Kate's shoulder pads are a very forties look

Chesticles · 09/03/2026 23:17

I think Kate looks lovely but I don’t understand why she wears faux pearls when there is probably a vault full of stings of pearls. And we all know pearls have to be worn to keep their sheen!

I do love Camilla’s broach though. Proper bling.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 09/03/2026 23:23

Are they faux? Surely not?? I assumed they were real!

ETA, I assumed wrong! https://susancaplan.co.uk/products/1980s-vintage-faux-pearl-collar-necklace

She first wore today’s necklace to Holocaust Memorial Day last year and Susan Caplan is a Jewish brand. And the necklace is beautiful especially paired with earrings the late QEII was given as a wedding gift. Mix and match!

The coat dress is gorgeous, the detail is superb. I looked at Catherine Walker’s website, it’s like she designs solely with Catherine in mind. Most of her coat dresses have that shoulder line.

deeahgwitch · 10/03/2026 08:45

Kate looks so elegant.

themessygarden · 10/03/2026 08:48

Would love to see Catherine wearing this style

Albert! 😱

I absolutely love the pleats on PoW’s coat, wonderful movement and agree the shoulder pads are very 40’s.
I’d be quite glad to see some 40’s fashion back, some of it was so elegant.

I have been hankering after some pearls for some time; keep fossicking around in our local antiques market but haven’t come across any. Many of us Mumsnetters have been accused of ‘pearl clutching’ so I think it’s only right I should have some!

Anne’s doing it again. Yesterday’s outfit was worn in 1999 to the opening of the Millennium Dome.

Excellent 👍. However, only 25 years old?
I'm disappointed.

Day 1 at Cheltenham. I thought Zara was wearing a straight skirt till I saw the full length photo. Somehow I was disappointed it was flared.

Ooh, look at Mike - very Gentleman Farmer. I think Zara's look is a bit fussy overall, although I like the handbag.

Lots to see!
I think Kate looks beautiful and very elegant. Agree @themessygarden that Catherine Walker outfit would look amazing on her slim frame.
Sophie looks lovely in her red dress.
Za looks good, but a tiny bit cabin crew when they wear coats on top. This weather is difficult to dress for though - cold first and last thing, then often a bit balmy (well for a menopausal woman like me!) in the afternoon!

KiIIingMeDeftly · 10/03/2026 16:51

Yet another fussy, dated outfit from Zara where she looks trussed-up. I think her best looks are when she goes to Australia for the races there.

CreepyCoupe · 10/03/2026 17:34

‘Trussed up’ is correct for Zara. She almost always looks forced into her clothes.

Maireas · 10/03/2026 17:37

Charlotte - great shoes! How lovely to be a muse for Chanel. Her and her mother.

She looks good. Lovely colour.

Maireas · 11/03/2026 17:45

She looks good in that very clear red.

Evening all!
I've been busy and I'm still waiting for smart coat season to end, but I see that Gustav and Silvia have been hosting the Polish President and his wife at their castle in Poland (? Seems a little weird to have an official royal residence in someone else's country) and I really like the unusual neckline on Marta Nawrocka's dress (less enthusiastic about the fishtail skirt) - it's a sort of very subtle version of a bare-shouldered look, with lovely curves and infinitely more wearable.

Zara looks very cluttered in the Cheltenham outfit, hat, pussy bow, belt, badge, buttons, sunglasses, too much. I'd have gone with either hat or pussy bow not both and a plain belt without a contrasting buckle.
