Is this genuine or from a M&S influencer? I got enticed by a similar thread a year ago and bought the jacket online. It looked better in the pic so I ended up returning it.

MJEBinAthens · 29/01/2026 18:00

I love it! I’ve always been a big fan of Marks. OK, some things they have in there are a bit old fashioned, but some pieces are bloody brilliant! I also have a few things to add:
1 The quality is almost always excellent
2 Their stuff in the sales is amazing. (I once bought a coat that should have been over 100€ for €15!)
3 The fact that they do different lengths of trousers is a game-changer!
4 Their dark chocolate digestives are sin in a packet!!!!!

My husband reckons that with the amount of stuff I’ve bought in there, they should give me free shares!
Enjoy your jacket!

I really like it. Apparently bombers are where it’s at this year.

I bought three faux leather bombers in the sale last year and I bloody LOVE them. They get tons of compliments too. Well the brown one not so much... but the black one and the burgundy ones do. All from New Look and they were absolute bargains. Can't wait for the weather to change so I can wear them again. They are lined but not as warm as I need at this time of year.

They make a really nice change from the leather biker imho.

piscofrisco · 29/01/2026 19:44

I love it. Lots of my most complimented coats and Jackets have been from M and S over the last few years.

I went into the newly refurbished Pantheon M&S on Oxford street last week and it was MAGNIFICENT! So nicely laid out into almost small boutique style sections and SO MUCH lovely stuff. Sadly I only had 20 minutes before meeting up with a friend but if you’re passing I’d recommend a visit.

No I don’t work for M&S!

Love the jacket op.

I might need to have a wander in there - I hated that M&S before , the ceiling felt so low it was oppressive .
The Marble Arch one up the road was always better but I'll gladly go and check out the Oxford Street one now it's new and improved .
I was in Oxford Street in December it was boarded up then.

Agree. And it’s so weird seeing things become popular that you would've laughed at in the 80s. I guess it’s to compliment the mullets and half mast trousers with white socks.

Well, things change. I remember my DM being mystified why I wanted to wear clumpy boots they laughed at and would do anything not to wear when she was younger. And I'm sure her parents were horrified by her mini skirts.

M&S have really upped their game.
I bought quite a lot from them last year, including my wide legged jeans which are a perfect fit.

I love my M and S wide legged jeans. I have had so many compliments when wearing them.

Yet they’re still letting themselves down by using cheap fabrics such as the pleather detailing which has a short lifespan making the item unusable in a few years.

How anyone can wear faux leather / pleather / leatherette in 2026 and not feel slightly Kat Slater-ish is beyond me. It’s a terrible material, not much different to wearing an actual bin bag. The material starts to breakdown after a couple of years so expect it to either peel, crack or turn sticky. The same goes for pleather sofas and chairs.

If you want the leather look please just buy leather.

I wonder why there's only one picture. I'd like to see it on a model, to get a sense of how long it is on a person.

I'm not pear shaped, more an apple and dropped shoulders don't suit me. Usually. But I might be persuaded.

There are multiple pictures of it on a model in the link. Unfortunately it looks awful in all of them. I'm not a fan of it, personally.

BIossomtoes · 30/01/2026 08:11

Who expects a £45 jacket to last more than a few years? If it was Stella McCartney, who always uses pleather - which has improved enormously recently - it might be different.

Nitgel · 30/01/2026 08:17

The collar will rip. Fake leathet always goes plastically. Would have been nicer in fabric. I have too many bombers theyre so useful.

Dropped shoulders must die

I so agree with you!! Why are they on every single item of clothing, when they are generally unflattering unless you are waif thin with narrow shoulders??!!! I’m an 8-10 but they make me look enormous.

CheeseSconeGirl · 30/01/2026 08:23

Missohnoyoubetterdont · 28/01/2026 23:20

I’m really not sure about that collar….

Agree
Its giving Rodney Trotter 😬
Sorry

I do wonder if its M&S who drop these threads

RosesAndHellebores · 30/01/2026 08:25

@BitOutOfPractice thank you. I'll drop into the Pantheon when I next have my hair done. The Marble Arch one is going isn't it.

I'll walk up to Marylebone from Bond Street, then cut down the back to the Pantheon to avoid Oxford Street. Will help with my steps.

You have made my morning.

Placestogo · 30/01/2026 08:52

I swear i had the exact same one when i was 15 years old!!! Feeling very old now….

EmotionalSupportVest · 30/01/2026 09:20

I love that - it reminds me of a denim jacket I had in the early 90s that I loved with my whole heart.

Dropped shoulders but not too boxy. The collar is a nice feature too.

Enjoy @WhyamIinahandcartandwherearewegoing

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/01/2026 09:29

They’ve added more pictures. I think it looks really good, except for the collar.

I don’t like the beige one that somebody posted below. It reminds me of dodgy second hand car dealers.

You don’t have much imagination do you?

I have a couple of “leather” skirts. One straight, one pleated that are midi length. Love wearing them with jumpers / sweatshirts and trainers Or boots.

I also have a pair of pleather cropped trousers that are maybe 18 years old. Still perfect condition and I always get loads of compliments.

I can assure you I look nothing like Kat Slater in them.
