Do women carry handbags anymore?

Just this. I’ve just bought a small padded sweaty betty crossover bag because in recent months I just take my phone everywhere not even a wallet and use my pockets for this. Wallet etc is all on my phone. But ive recently wanted to take my kindle out with me and it’s a tight fit in pockets. So I bought a small bag. I’ve got a few old ones I might put on vinted. But will they sell? Who actually uses a handbag nowadays? Not talking about a work tote. Just a handbag in the old fashioned sense. Would be interested to hear what ppl now do.

Does OP mean all bags or just bags that were traditionally handbags.

But cards don't take up that much room anyway, was your purse huge to need a big bag, I find things like my hat and gloves take up a fair bit of space but that's nothing to do with a phone.

I agree, the size of the things I have in my handbag haven't decreased since mobiles came along, in fact they've increased as I have a phone, cable and charging box often with me. My purse, cosmetic bag, hairbrush etc are all the same

Same. Although I don't usually remember to touch up my lipstick when I do have some with me.

I don't use one all the time. I just put my phone, keys and debit card in my pockets.

I have noticed most women take one everywhere though, even on a short trip.

I have 2 cross body bags I might use on a longer day out - shopping for example. I only add a small hairbrush and lip balm to the keys, card and phone. I always have tissues in my pocket too.

I do use them more in the summer too when I'm not wearing a coat.

I find bags a bit fussy and annoying but appreciate I'm in the minority on this!
