Do your disappearing tweezers ever re-materialise?

Mine don't.

I've spent hundreds over the years on new tweezers every time mine vanish never to reappear. I should buy shares in Tweezerman 🙄

I keep them about me at all times to tackle the meno chin hairs that sprout daily. They literally vanish into thin air from the general location of my person on the sofa.

Tweezers after tweezers after tweezers. Pink, blue, silver, gold, big ones, small ones, cheap ones, expensive ones. They all go and same way .

The fuckers almost never reappear. Not in the washing machine. Not in pockets. Not down the back of the sofa (I've checked) not in the vacuum cleaner (ditto).

Sometimes, the odd one will briefly pop back into existence in a make up bag or somewhere I've already searched, only to dematerialise again permanently after a few weeks.

I'd conservatively estimate that 50 of them have vanished in this house over the years, never to reappear!! Where are they all???

Does this happen to anyone else?

Yes.. turns out my teenage sons have them!

Boogiemam · 22/01/2026 19:51

I lost my favourite tweezers once. Literally years went by then I found them again, argh it was like finding gold dust!

2026willbebetter · 22/01/2026 19:52

DD aged 6 hoards them and tells me she got them a Christmas cracker.

PineappleGummyBear · 22/01/2026 19:53

I lost a pair once. Turned out my grandma knicked it for her chin hairs lol

MrsLizzieDarcy · 22/01/2026 19:54

I found two pairs today lurking at the back of the shit drawer in the kitchen. Cheers, DH Hmm

Alliolly · 22/01/2026 19:55

They do! Usually in sets of at least 2 and right after I've bought new ones

GellerYeller · 22/01/2026 19:57

Yes. Teens. I had the perfect ones which were bought in a packing emergency(!) on a weekend away- Tesco Value brand, of all things! I’ve also got some from Flying Tiger that I hide.

HouseAshamed · 22/01/2026 20:03

I have lost a couple but now I always put it in a dish with a magnet in it.
I also have an emergency set of tweezers tucked away safely in a drawer and one on my swiss army knife.

I'm not hairy but a stray eyebrow hair will annoy me to the point of distraction.

Nail clippers also go in the dish otherwise they walk.

Make-up pencil sharpeners also seem to have feet.

Thisisntme1 · 22/01/2026 20:23

Yes, in my teenage/adult sons bedrooms or bathroom

DBroDebts · 22/01/2026 20:30

This happens in my house too. I'm convinced my teen girls nab them!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 22/01/2026 20:37

I bought a very expensive pair once. Dd stole them. This was 5 years ago.

Her bedroom has been redecorated and cleaned out several times since then. They’ve never reappeared. She is banned from touching them anymore.

Raspberrymoon49 · 22/01/2026 20:58

I live alone and the little sods still vanish

HouseAshamed · 22/01/2026 21:01

@Raspberrymoon49 , same here.
Guest can be light-fingered. I've had the odd item vanish from the bathroom.

catsnore · 22/01/2026 21:03

Check the children. Tweezers and blue tac seem to be endlessly fascinating

FringeTime · 22/01/2026 21:10

Oh ffs this drives me nuts!!

FourForksSake · 22/01/2026 21:11

No thank goodness. I think my pair pre-dates having DC. If they go walkabout I stalk and interrogate until they reappear. DD knows how precious they are.

MNLurker1345 · 22/01/2026 21:16

I keep a pair in the car. There is no way they go missing and when I am off out I can pluck those chin blighters out!

Frugalgal · 22/01/2026 21:24

They're definitely not being nicked. DS has his own, he did have an occurrence of a vanishing tweezers of his own once, but now the replacement never moves from the bathroom windowsill.

This, they use them to pull dog hair out of the Playstation.

Raahh · 22/01/2026 21:49

Dh puts his tweezers above the bathroom window sill.

He does this because I can't reach them without standing on the loo , which is under the window(I'm 4ft 8) , and also our dds would probably lose them, if they were readily available

. DD1 bought her own, so DD2 takes hers Grin.

He can also tell if I have used them(for chin hairs) , and put them back- because I am left handed , and he is right (so put them back the wrong way around).

Raahh · 22/01/2026 21:53

Woe betide anyone who ever takes my afro comb though- I've had it over 30 years, (I do clean it) it's a very specific shape, never found another one like it . My hair is not as curly as it was - but it's the the principle !

I missed this when I replied.

I didn't realise the windowsill was such a popular spot- just thought Dh was being heightist Grin

biedrona · 22/01/2026 21:56

Just invest in electrolysis.

WifeOfBaths · 22/01/2026 21:57

Found mine after a year when we went camping - they were packed away in the inside pocket of our tent.

MajesticWhine · 22/01/2026 21:58

Mine do not reappear. Nor do my nail scissors. I have bought a lot over the years. But I assume it's my family members "borrowing" them. Thieving bastards.
