Do your disappearing tweezers ever re-materialise?

Mine don't.

I've spent hundreds over the years on new tweezers every time mine vanish never to reappear. I should buy shares in Tweezerman 🙄

I keep them about me at all times to tackle the meno chin hairs that sprout daily. They literally vanish into thin air from the general location of my person on the sofa.

Tweezers after tweezers after tweezers. Pink, blue, silver, gold, big ones, small ones, cheap ones, expensive ones. They all go and same way .

The fuckers almost never reappear. Not in the washing machine. Not in pockets. Not down the back of the sofa (I've checked) not in the vacuum cleaner (ditto).

Sometimes, the odd one will briefly pop back into existence in a make up bag or somewhere I've already searched, only to dematerialise again permanently after a few weeks.

I'd conservatively estimate that 50 of them have vanished in this house over the years, never to reappear!! Where are they all???

Does this happen to anyone else?

This has literally never happened to me. I wonder if it’s because my girls are 7 and 10. It’s in the post? Also my eyebrows don’t grow so the only things that get tweezed are my chin hairs and a skelf now and again. They have a little packet that they live in in the bathroom drawer and they stay there.

Sunloungerhogger · 22/01/2026 22:08

Are you my mother? Hers used to disappear all the time but that was because I had borrowed them (because they were an elusively good pair for plucking eyebrows….it was the 90s so you can imagine my eyebrows needed to be plucked within an inch of their life!). I feel a bit bereft these days if I lose my good pair / go on holiday and forget to pack them.

GalaxyJam · 22/01/2026 22:08

I’ve had the same pair of tweezers for about 5 years now. I use them then put them back in my bedside drawer.

I just came here to say I found my last pair in DS's (14) room. What are they doing? Do we want to know? 🤣

Ohitsatiara · 22/01/2026 22:17

They only ever turn up when I move house, along with the nail clippers and scissors. Last time we moved I found 14 pairs of scissors. I have 8 pairs now and 6 of them are new ones since we moved here. Didn't keep a tally of the tweezers and nail clippers but I expect it's the same. I also have the same items in the motor home and seem to replace them regularly. There are no DCs involved. I think I may have a kleptomaniac ghost living and traveling with us. They obviously have a hatred for bushy eyebrows, long nails and some other reason for the scissors.

Yep , they’re somewhere with hair bands and a pen .

HouseAshamed · 22/01/2026 22:33

I find that useful items in a really horrible colour seem to get returned.

HoarFrosted · 22/01/2026 22:34

No disappearing tweezers chez nous, but cutlery occasionally vanishes. This completely baffled us until a missing kitchen knife turned up in the compost. Didn't seem any the worse for a year's sojourn amongst worms and decomposing organic matter, so it got washed, sterilised and was gratefully returned to service...

This

TeenLifeMum · 22/01/2026 22:36

I bought everyone different colour ones and threatened death on anyone using my sparkly ones. Dh especially. DDs - at least I could usually find them in their room. Dh - wtf does he do with them?! The ends end up misaligned after he uses them. The rage is real when he messed up my favourite tweezers. I don’t want to hide them, I want them on the bathroom mirror shelf for speedy chin hair extraction!

I swear we use 200 hair bands per school term!

Yes, nobody wants to half inch the salmon pink tweezers

GOAT26 · 22/01/2026 22:48

I assume my tweezers are in a vortex along with all my missing combs.

I wonder if there is a parallel universe where you can’t move for tweezers?

HouseAshamed · 22/01/2026 22:52

Barbie pink tools borrowed get returned. I hate the colour but at least they don't need frequent replacement. The more garish the better.

Kudos for "skelf". And yes, it may be in your future. My most determined daughter was 10 when she first pinched a razor and a pair of tweezers and made quite a good job of taming her eyebrows.

My tweezers now tend to turn up very quickly on DH's desk or bedside table. He doesn't hide them, he just regards them as communal.

Ha! I spent years buying pink water bottles and charging cables to discourage them from being pilfered by DS. He’s a grown up now and quite likes pink.

Thankfully, my tweezers behave and I’ve still got the only two pairs I’ve ever bought. Going to keep a very close eye on them now I know this is a thing though!

Cantyouseethishorselovesme · 23/01/2026 08:28

Its sooo annoying when you find a good pair that really work for you, and they go walking. Guess where mine were? My DH had been using them to tweak the parts on his model railway set-up in the spare room. They were covered in white paint and blobs of solder. I don't care. They are back in my possession and guess what he's getting for his birthday?

cannaethink · 23/01/2026 11:29

Since buying my teen sons their own tweezers, mine have safely stayed on the bathroom windowsill. They use them for their mono-brows (same as me 😁).

PinkYellowGrey · 23/01/2026 11:42

Why don't you attach a long multicoloured ribbon to them?

newrubylane · 23/01/2026 12:02

Mine reappeared last week in amongst my jewellery. They'd been gone for months. The previous pair disappeared and the reappeared (I forget where) just two days after I bought a new pair 🙄

I was going to ask if there are teenagers in the house. Teenage sons are where mine disappear to too.
