I'm in the market for a new dressing gown. Any recommendations? I dont have a specific budget in mind, just want something really lovely to replace my current one (John Lewis) which has seen better days. Thanks!

I have a black oodie one, love it

bluedancingtwiglet · 18/01/2026 17:36

I have a White Company long grey cashmere in the winter but my favourite is a Sainsbo Christmas Oodie 😂

Chinsupmeloves · 18/01/2026 18:21

Personally I find the extra thick sherpa type ones too much so for me a thin fleece one you can get from anywhere. Xxx

PShelp · 18/01/2026 18:29

I have the white company towelling robe (waffle) for getting out of the shower and a big fleecy one from Tesco for everything else.

Foundress · 18/01/2026 18:30

This maybe controversial but I wish I could get a decent dressing gown in a nice soft fabric (not sweaty fleece or scratchy towelling) with a zip up the front. The reason is big boobs. All wrap type dressing gowns just end up gaping open on me. I have seen a stretchy jersey wrap over dressing gown on Cyberjammies. It might stay closed. I would love to waft around in some of the beautiful ones shown on this thread.

I haven’t read the whole thread but I have this Lynn Antiques one which I love.

I don’t have any stuff printed on mine!

Yes! The reason I clicked on this thread. I feel a Dragon’s Den moment coming on - who’s in? 😂

The white Company beat you to it

100 per cent cotton if you want to put it on after a shower.

Boudy · 18/01/2026 20:12

White Stuff here. Looks a little bit like the Joules one. Have had it for around 7 years( present) Also have a lovely light cotton one from Nice things from my mum. Approx 10 years old!

BigOldBlobsy · 18/01/2026 20:20

Next - got it off vinted with tags on, it’s lovely and soft and just my fave thing to wear in the house!

I'd buy one of these if money was no object:

oh god I love those. LOVE them.

I currently have a black knitted one from M&S which is perfect at this time of year - I fought with my mum over it as she wanted to buy me a very lush magenta velour one but I run hot and knew it would be too much. The knitted one is perfect as it feels quite thin but is warm. It isn't luxe but I love it.

I also have a silk kimono made from a recycled sari that I bought from a local shop for £45. It was an absolute bargain really and I float about in it come spring/summer. It is ripped to feck but I love it. Tis prefect for drinking a cocktail in the garden come dusk at summer time or sat in the morning sun having a breakfast cappuccino...

Boudy · 18/01/2026 22:03

Oh no @Poppins2016 I cannot unsee those! Totes gorgeous.

LaddersAndLadders · 18/01/2026 22:29

I can't do fleece and some of the gorgeous kimono type ones I got gifted had no pockets so ended up in charity shop. Now love the Rituals velour one. It doesn't feel at all like a bathrobe. Comes in lots of colours too.

Frasers Biba cosy gown. I’ve had two in black and white for years and they are so comfy and cosy

I’ve got one. I absolutely love it. Do they still sell them?

Ineffable23 · 18/01/2026 10:45

I've got this too. Best DG I've ever had.

ignatiusjreilly · 19/01/2026 02:12

I also have the Rosie one from M&S and absolutely love it. So warm and cosy, and really long too.

Long zip up soft dressing gown from Matalan. Zip up is a total game changer!

Agree. I got a very cozy one from Asda a month ago and I will never go back to belted dressing gowns.

Horses7 · 19/01/2026 06:55

I always get the extra long/tall soft dressing gowns from M&S - so they are floor length on me (5’4) My current one is thick velour with a hood - sometimes I carry it with a lantern as it makes my grandkids (who are massive Traitors fans) laugh. I’d wear it all day if I could! Hope M&S still make them as I’ll need a replacement later this year

IDontHateRainbows · 19/01/2026 08:33

Great minds @LaddersAndLadders - I also have the pink one.
