If I can't stick to low buy Feb then I'm taking you all down with me! 😂

Feels like the orchestra on Titanic.

OvaHere · 04/02/2026 09:58

I can't bring myself to get a Byredo palette (unusual for me). I think they look beautiful but there's always about half the palette I know I won't use and they're really expensive.

@BakeOffRewatch I am enjoying the Bibliophilia and do use it often. Oddly, I bought it mostly because I liked the look of the warmer shades, but I’m really enjoying and using the cooler side more. As per the reviews, it is very easy to use. Mixed views on outer case - it’s lovely and shiny looking, but shows up any fingerprints etc very easily, so unless you clean it all the time it doesn’t stay looking great. Yes, the new one is Vesuvio - includes some pretty pastel colours which I expect look great in the pan but that in reality I may well not use, so resisting at the moment.

I have had only one splurge buy recently - a discontinued perfume I’ve been after for a long time that came up on ebay. I suspect I have paid over the odds for it, and am awaiting its arrival anxiously. Really hope it is as good as I’m anticipating it will be.

Feels like the orchestra on Titanic.

At least our make up would stay in place as we fight the watery elements - in the background the orchestra would be playing a rendition of "Lip Gloss" by Lil Mama😄

keepincool · 04/02/2026 10:34

Intrigued by the perfume @AprilLady - which one is it?

AprilLady · 04/02/2026 10:43

@keepincool it’s rather niche - Andy Tauer’s Rose Chypree. As I have other Tauer perfumes I like a lot, and love Rose and Chypre type perfumes, it ticks every box for me. It also has had some great reviews. But is an expensive blind buy if I decide I don’t like it.

Has anyone tried the new Ordinary Volufiline serum? Or other products with Volufiline in them?

Hicupping · 04/02/2026 11:44

I have, very silicone, vaseliney, went almost solid when it got cold so had to prise top off to pop a qtip in it. Only bothered a couple of times so can't point to efficacy. Not very helpful I know.

ElizabethG81 · 04/02/2026 11:52

No that’s helpful, and may stop me impulse buying 😂

OvaHere · 04/02/2026 14:04

There's few new beauty boxes and a couple of GWP posted on Beauty Detective site. Don't have time rn to list them separately but if anyone wants to take a look there's Revolve, Notino, Niche and Oh My Cream (that name always gets me! 😂)

I like the look of the Bobbi Brown set, not any price or release date though. Can only find link to one product the beauty detective page had a photo at the bottom https://m.bobbibrowncosmetics.ca/product/2330/137938/makeup/eyes/eyeshadow/limited-edition-threads-of-love-eyeshadow-palette

@AprilLady thanks for letting me know about the Byredo eyeshadow palette. I think I’d splurge on the Vesuvio as its unusual colours. Whereas the Bibliophilia colour story looks very wearable and also repeatable from other brands at lower price points, like above and a bit similar to Lancôme Idole cafe Crush others have recommended . Let me know when it’s released as this doesn’t seem to crop up on my socials or lists. I really liked the Byredo lipstick in the Liberty 2024 AC I wear it a lot.

@AprilLady i love the case of the Vesuvio too.

I like the Prisma colour way they did. Has anyone else had a Byredo eyeshadow palette? New to me.

Can I get some hive help?… I have developed a small dry skin/red patch just above my eye lid, presumably from one of the new products I’ve tried recently. Any idea what would be best to treat it with?

Also, today I tried the Rodial glow primer from the Harrods BAC, has anyone else used it? The smell reminds me of the yellow medicine I used to get when I was sick as a child 🙃

IlovePond · 04/02/2026 17:00

@Thelifeofawife - Aveeno and Avene are both very good as long as it’s not too close to the eye. Hope it clears up soon 🤞

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream is my go to for any red/dry patches, it never fails

Talisin · 04/02/2026 17:44

My Face the Future edit turned up today, still the same three products thankfully. Looking forward to try the Decree tonight!

Having bought skincare I absolutely don’t need and can’t really justify, I have thrown the baby out with the bathwater and further bought two lipsticks from Nars and two jumpers and a skirt from Sainsburys. My only excuse is I have some horrible bug, feel awful and needed some cheering up.

LouScot · 04/02/2026 18:18

Ooo, I'm trying to decide whether to buy another face the future box...I'm not sure if im using too much of the Decree serum, I need slightly more than one dose. I started using it last Thursday I think, and unsurprisingly haven't noticed any difference yet but I'm so impatient 🤣

MrsBnow12 · 04/02/2026 18:28

Has anyone got the Lisa Eldridge Betty palette and if so, is it as good as the influencers want you to believe?

IlovePond · 04/02/2026 18:28

That’s so true @Anthrofail - EA 8 hour is weirdly good stuff for cuts, scrapes, rashes. It’s more of a first aid product than beauty, I have always thought.

It's a wonder product, i always have one in my bag, one in the car, and one at home. It can also be used on children, great for protecting their noses on the playground in winter

I've not had this quarter's box yet but if anyone is looking for a little spend I can recommend Pelegrims subs box. Nothing in it for me, just thought I'd spread the joy 😊

Lucas paw paw ointment is great for patches of sore skin (and insect bites, grazes etc).
