Shopping my wardrobe in 2026

I have committed to a buying break (no clothes in 2026) and feel miserable already 🤦‍♀️.
I’m starting this thread to cheer myself up and rediscover the clothes I already own. I have been tracking CPW for all my clothes for several years but recently it has become automatic and boring.

I would like to rediscover the joy of putting outfits together, instead of buying new things first and then figuring out how they fit together! Also being more mindful about what I wear and how I feel about it.

I use an app called Stylebook to organise my clothes, it helps but I don’t think it’s necessary. If anyone wants to join me, great 😊.

This is what I wore today:

I’m back and finally not wearing the same pair of socks several days in a row 😅. @Whowhatwerewolf I am completely immune to ski fashion, I snowboard and bought my comfy, loose jacket nearly 20 years ago. It still looks good. There’s always at least one person on the slopes wearing really vintage gear (1980s clothes, sometimes monoski) and I admire the commitment.

We have cold mornings and warm afternoons right now, I wore winter clothes to work in the morning and a suede jacket for a walk in the afternoon.

Had an important event yesterday so I wore one of my favourite scarves. I bought it for my DC milestone birthday - she had an animal print romper and the sleeping jaguar reminds me of her sleeping peacefully.

It’s getting warmer here as well. This is the time of the year when fog rises from the lakes and meadows every morning and evening.

Your Jaguar scarf is so beautiful @CortieTat.
The last few days I've been wearing navy, leopard & white. I've been busy & it's easy to have a uniform & a variation on a theme.

So many great scarves on this thread. I love the way you've paired yours with the very modern trainers, @stnvcfo

I hope you're having a fantastic ski holiday @CortieTat I love skiing but always want a new outfit for my trips as there are so many great looking ski fashions but then again it's totally impractical to buy something amazing for use only one or two weeks a year.

My outfit today for bottomless brunch with a friend. Neither of us are big drinkers but we were given a Groupon we had to use. I had three cocktails and have a bit of a headache now.

Edited

@Whowhatwerewolf love the blouse, where was that from please?

Whowhatwerewolf · 13/03/2026 13:26

Thank you so much @ActoBelle it's the Boden Savannah broderie top. It's a bit more feminine than my usual style but I find it easy to wear and comfortable.

Here's today's outfit that I wore out just for shopping and pastries. It was springlike for five minutes when I was leaving the house but I ended up freezing unfortunately. Then I had to change to go to the hairdresser (she operates out of her home so I can wear comfy old sweats and my house slippers - it's brilliant!). Then going to pilates this evening so it will be a three outfit day (only the first one is worthy of a flat lay though).

I love your leopard accents @Cantonet and will have to try mine with navy. I usually just stick to brown and cream but I think the navy really works!

Love the leopard accents! Nice to see spring clothes too 🥰

This is my outfit from yesterday. I found this waistcoat/vest on vinted a couple of years ago but haven’t had the opportunity to wear it yet - not very practical when pregnant and at home with a baby.

Cute earrings @CortieTat !

Here's my outfit from going to dinner and the theatre last night. It's a bit '50 shades of brown" but I like the different textures. I would have taken a different handbag but I was swapping books with my friend so needed a roomy one.

WFH yesterday

A presentation for a large group today so I took one of my lucky scarves with me. First time wearing a trench in 2026 today. The bag has no compartments inside and always looks stuffed to the brim no matter what I put inside. I’m not sure I like it.

It’s getting colder again but warm enough for a trench coat. Mine is probably from around 1990s and really thick, windproof gabardine.

Lighter colours & layers are being worn here due to beautifully sunny days with chilly mornings.
Where do you get all your excellent coats @CortieTat?

It looks like the spring has really arrived at your place @Cantonet, we still have frost in the morning and fog you can cut with a knife rising from the lakes in the evening. I love your rose gold accents and the tan tote bag.

Most of my coats were bought second hand or hand me downs. I found the denim trench on Joli Closet. It smelled like a medieval dungeon when it arrived but I saw potential and with some TLC and dry cleaning it looks like new and the stench never returned. One of my wool coats used to be my dad’s before he massively put on weight, another one is a Swedish brand that must have gone belly up in the 1990s, I found it on Vinted.

I really recommend Joli Closet for second hand designer stuff. They tend to be cheaper for the buyer than VC and have solid quality control, everything goes through their head office and they send detailed photos of the garment and a description before you complete the purchase. I have not bought anything there this year (I’m on No Buy thread too) but my previous experience was very positive.

I love your tote bag too @Cantonet and your scarf game is unmatchable @CortieTat I've been eyeing that Peace, Love and Liberty one but am saving up via the Beauty drop. I've just started so have lots of time to think about it.

I'm on my winter sun holiday even though it's technically Spring.

Have a great time @Whowhatwerewolf your outfit is very stylish.

It’s properly sunny today and still quite cold at the same time, it was around 5 degrees midday. Lazy day today, I went for a long walk with my youngest in the carrier.

Looks comfortable, but still stylish! Good choice!

I love that blue top! I haven't been looking at this thread because I feel like you're influencing me to buy rather than not buy 😂

CortieTat · 24/03/2026 21:14

I hope the thread will inspire you to wear things you already have, some of my clothes are older than me (and I’m over 45) @TeaAndToastedCrumpets

WFH today, it’s been dark, cold and rainy all day.
