Shopping my wardrobe in 2026

I have committed to a buying break (no clothes in 2026) and feel miserable already 🤦‍♀️.
I’m starting this thread to cheer myself up and rediscover the clothes I already own. I have been tracking CPW for all my clothes for several years but recently it has become automatic and boring.

I would like to rediscover the joy of putting outfits together, instead of buying new things first and then figuring out how they fit together! Also being more mindful about what I wear and how I feel about it.

I use an app called Stylebook to organise my clothes, it helps but I don’t think it’s necessary. If anyone wants to join me, great 😊.

This is what I wore today:

This thread is making me realise I need to up my accessorise game! Excellent outfits on here 🙏
I weakened somewhat this weekend and bought yet another knitted vest from toast but I think I’ll send it back.

I’m so inspired by this thread, I’d love to join! I am nowhere near as stylish as you all though 😩

CortieTat · 25/03/2026 16:44

@Shabang21 welcome and don’t be shy! It’s all about feeling good while squeezing the minimum CPW from your wardrobe 🔩

@stnvcfo is that a Swatch? My first serious watch, purchased with my first ever teenage salary was a Swatch. I still have it and I’m very sentimental about them 😍

I do understand what you mean @TeaAndToastedCrumpets as several of the posters on here have such nice wardrobes it's hard not to be tempted. As I've mentioned I'll be buying a scarf as influenced by @CortieTat but I think that's a really considered purchase and one that I won't be making quickly or soon. It's good to see what clothes people who really think through what they're wearing are choosing again and again and using to put together stylish but timeless outfits. I think it's a great alternative to browsing the latest fast fashions.

I love the pinafore @stnvcfo and that green patterned top looks great with the cardigan @CortieTat - that forest green is my favourite colour. It would be good to have you here @Shabang21 I'd love to see some of your looks if you feel like sharing.

Another holiday outfit from me that's quite similar to the previous as I've tried not to overpack this time like I usually do.

I agree about the pinafore with @Whowhatwerewolf, @stnvcfo it looks great with the shirt and boots.

You holiday look gives me great, relaxed vibes. I love the dress!

For something completely different: I’m back in winter clothes. We have rain, wind and snow again.

It’s been so windy for the past few days, I went out yesterday optimistically wearing my trench without the detachable lining and it was freezing.

Yesterday’s and today’s outfits:

I absolutely adore that pinafore @stnvcfo.
It's also been cold here this week too. So it was definitely winter coat weather for a couple of days but then returned to blazer weather. It's wrong coat season weather. Whatever you wear its going to be all shades of wrong.
I'm inspired by Me & Em styling this spring. I've been looking at ways to style my wool Uniqlo blazers & I have everything I need to copy the Me &Em style. So I've pinned several pics in my Whering inspiration folder. Outfits worn as attached. I will try & copy the styling next time I post 🤞🏼

Thank you for the warm welcome 🤗 Okay - here I go! This is my outfit today, and I did not account for the fact that it was freezing despite the sunshine. I also need to up my accessory game…

@Cantonet I love your accessories! Very cool styling.

@Shabang21, beautiful bag 😍 I really like your sneakers too!

Relaxing at home today and then went for a run.

I love your outfit @Shabang21. It's right up my street with the toning jacket, bag & shoes .
Amazing running outfit @CortieTat.
I've just realised im going on a trip to HK/Suzhou & maybe Malaysia for nearly 3 weeks in April & need to sort out my clothes for summer. I also need some formal outfits, as will have to do some schmoozing. Variable temperatures with Suzhou being cooler, HK being warm & humid & Malaysia hot! I'm retrieving all my summer holiday lookbook inspiration from last year as I literally can't remember what I have.
Most of last summer here I wore jeans & a boho blouse, often in a crinkled cotton/cheesecloth so as to avoid the ironing.

CortieTat · 29/03/2026 20:04

@Cantonet this sounds super exciting and a good excuse to get some new outfits together ☺️

It’s still cold here, I had a thick Fairisle jumper under my babywearing coat today.

@CortieTat - I am so enjoying your styling, especially with the beautiful scarfs 😍 I have so many, but really not sure how to style them. Thanks @Cantonet - I always worry I look a bit bland with all my neutrals 😬

Todays outfit was much more weather appropriate 😂

I love this idea. How do your clothes look so good on the app? I have had a stab at my outfit today but the dress looks so wrinkled.

I think it might take me a long time to catalogue everything on Whering.

Anyway, thought I would wear something spring-like but it was actually a bit too cold!

Beautiful dress @DiggoryVenn! I use a mixture of my own photos and packshots/flat photos of garments which I download whenever I buy something.

It’s rain and snow today, windy and cold.

I was supposed to go swimming today but actually didn't because I felt a bit off colour. Ironically, I wore the quilted jacket in the house but it was too hot outside!

@DiggoryVenn l like the colour accents on your bag against the monochrome outfit.

It was getting warmer yesterday but today we had frost and minus grades in the morning, I took my short wool coat and a big warm scarf out again.

@Shebangloving the shoes 👌 and I am also a huge fan of a sleeveless jumper. As you can see! A day at the office today.

Groovy trainers @stnvcfo & dress @DiggoryVenn.
@CortieTati really like the burgundy n turquoise combination in your sweater.
It's been mild & sunny here,so I've managed to wear lighter layers. I've just washed last year's M&S Sezanne copy trench coat & beige suedette jacket, in preparation for spring. Plus i managed to wear one of my lighter Boho blouses underneath a wool blazer for a little warmth.

👀 suede sezanne x m&s!!

Cantonet · 02/04/2026 21:13

Ah no, sadly it's the trench thats the copy. It has fold back contrasting check cuffs & lining that i love.I actually have a real suede washable jacket really similar to the Wills that I bought in HK 20 years ago. But we've had so much rain I've barely worn it. I've actually found this suedette jacket the most useful & easy to wear.

@stnvcfo the trainers 😍 they really go well with your knit and the watch
@Cantonet I am really inspired by your rose gold accessories!

The day started with lots of sunshine and clear skies, I was in town getting last necessities before Easter. I’m also sleep deprived (DC woke me up five times tonight) so tried to cheer myself up with one of my favourite scarves.
I had to change clothes in the afternoon, the weather changed back to cold, windy and overcast. Two outfits today and I feel spoiled.

I’ve noticed that I started to dislike my largest bag. I still use it because it’s what I have but there’s no love.

@Cantoneti have been eyeing up the sezane suede jacket so very interested! It’s the flatter shoulder (ie not padded or rounded) which I like a lot.
I tried on an 80s version today in a bristol vintage shop which was nice but the shoulders were a bit too puffy!

Cantonet · 02/04/2026 23:24

Oh yes @stnvcfoi have the same issue.
I have swimmers shoulders and anything built up or puffed makes look like a shotputter. Funnily enough pre-kids I lived in similar brown suede jackets. Many of my old rather battered leather jackets are being worn by my two dd's.

DiggoryVenn · 03/04/2026 16:37

I'm off out to watch some comedy later and this is what I'm wearing. I made the linen trousers last year and I absolutely love them - so comfortable, and the fabric was £££.

I love your handbags but I find I am really scaling back on using them as I tend to get backache. If I have made something myself I try to incorporate some pockets so I don't need to take a bag.

CortieTat · 03/04/2026 20:42

Beautiful trousers @DiggoryVenn and I admire your sewing skills! I also prefer carrying my things in pocket but I often carry my laptop our baby stuff.

Lazy day at home today, I wanted to get up early but the little one has a cold and woke up many times during the night. We went out for a walk in the afternoon with DC on my back under a babywearing coat.
