Style goals 2026!

MakemineaGandT · 01/01/2026 21:11

Anybody care to share their style goals for the new year? 😁

As for me, I’m planning to stop the habit of saving things for best, and just dress up whenever I feel like it - life’s too short to store things for rainy days that may never come…

@Barrenfieldoffucks i'm also on the quest for nice longer socks for the same reason!

I reckon its going to come with a hefty price tag too!

Odd question, but where does everyone find nice, longer socks? I find that if I wear my barrel leg jeans with standard socks the socks leave flesh exposed, which I don't want.

Uniqlo socks are longer than usual and good to add a flash of colour. They're cheap and seem to wash and wear well.

John Lewis do knee high socks in a wool/silk mix. I have bought several pairs for mum who loves them, so I can confidently testify that they survive constant wearing/washing for ages. Hers start wearing after about 18 months and thats after lots of regular long dog walks.

I’m working on a bit of a glow up. I’m working on improving my skin, getting makeup with better longevity and keeping up with regular hair appointments!

SpotTheGreatPony · 11/01/2026 21:45

Challenge for this week - only wear leggings / gym gear when actually in gym/doing exercise

I have soooo many nice clothes I am not wearing - it’s a crime haha

I’ve just put an outfit together for tomorrow- Hollister Livvy wide leg trousers in dark grey, a cornflour blue cashmere sweater and Aro trainers. Tried it on and felt a million dollars! Seriously I need to step away from the leggings…….

coolcahuna · 11/01/2026 22:02

Considered purchases to fill gaps, shopping my wardrobe, low spend and not buying duplicates, only getting something if I love it.

SpotTheGreatPony · 12/01/2026 15:47

Wore my non-leggings / gym kit outfit today and got a compliment from the first person I saw!

LeftoversAgain · 14/01/2026 22:47

I've been wearing my fur lined leggings under various wide legged trousers I have, plus a much more tight fitting top. Im now warmer plus it holds my belly in more and I feel smarter. I look a ton better. Using vinted as a newbie too to fill in wardrobe gaps.

LeftoversAgain · 21/01/2026 02:53

What are people's thoughts on cross body bags? My main outing is the school run but in my quest to look more stylish, im now wondering whether my bags need an overhaul? Looking on insta and loads seem to be wearing birkin style bags? Im trying to dress more stylishly but need comfort

2026IsMyYear · 21/01/2026 11:47

I'm still using a crossbody bag day to day for pure practicality.

I have a beautiful leather bag with top handle & i love it. Its v elegant. But its a bit of a pain when you need to use both hands!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/01/2026 12:23

The Uniqlo cross body bags are brilliant.

BitOutOfPractice · 21/01/2026 13:14

I got given a Uniqlo cross body bag by my 20s DDs for Christmas. It’s been great so far!

LeftoversAgain · 23/01/2026 23:13

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie @BitOutOfPractice what colours did you get? I wish I could see a full shade chart. Love red but not too dark/orangey

I got black a. Because that’s what I was bought and b. It goes best with my wardrobe

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/01/2026 08:58

Mine is black cord but I’m not sure if they do that anymore. I’ve also got a straw one for summer.

Floisme · 28/01/2026 14:47

I don’t want to buy much, but I do want to replace some basics with better quality versions- black scoop necked T-shirts and a v neck grey jumper in particular. I’m also still on the look out for a midi black tube skirt, like Whistles used to do so well.

I want to find one pair of jeans that I love, but that’s proving tricky. I want pale and slouchy, I think.

Other than that, I want to make some more skirts and dresses, now I’ve found patterns that work well for me. I still need to find a pattern for a top that I like.

Oi Remus! I saw this and thought of you.

Uniqlo C range, available in Mid-Feb. Ribbed finish so not quite the same as those Whistles ones but the closest I've seen in a long time

Also this one knitted one:

Thank you. I saw these a few days ago and really need to remember to look again in mid February! I don’t mind ribbed, but will never forgive Whistles!

Floisme · 28/01/2026 15:09

Yeah the Whistles ones were the best, although I got rid of mine in the end because it rode up when I walked and it started to really annoy me. I may be about to regret it!

My short ones used to get shorter as the day went on, but my midi ones were fine. I still have a midi burgundy leopard print one and it gets lots of wear. I just can’t believe how difficult it is to find a plain black one- it just feels like such a classic staple. Here’s hoping that the Uniqlo ones will meet the brief.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 28/01/2026 17:58

I am living in Uniqlo at the moment, their barrel legs and ribbed tees are great.

TryingToFindMyStyle · 28/01/2026 21:22

My style goals for 2026 are

  • to think about the cost per wear for items and wear my most expensive clothes more
  • don’t buy something because it’s good enough
  • spend more time thinking about outfits and take photos to check it actually suits me
