Bare Essentuals mineral foundation, fantastic, would never go back to liquid foundation now.

WowOoo · 12/06/2008 15:43

Always bought clinique foundation and cover up pencil bobbi brown. Might go and try to get some samples myself.

Still, at end of the day I look a mess and mascara is under my eyes. Should really try to look in a mirror more often.

Have to say, I'm currently using Lily Lolo mineral foundation and loving it.

chanel.

sherbetdipdab · 12/06/2008 15:53

It is truly amazing, honestly!
I had bad skin and this covered it up completely without putting heaps on. It also seems to have helped my skin too, I have hardly any spots now.
It gives me that healthy sheeny skin that I always wanted.
I really can't recommend it highly enough

sherbetdipdab · 12/06/2008 15:55

Oh, yes it does last, I don't look in the mirror at lunchtime anymore and look like I never put any make up on. Its also really quick to apply

YeahBut · 12/06/2008 15:56

Love Chanel Vitalumiere. It's a very light, sheer look and it has an SPF which is always good!

chanel is all too dark for me. i have surprised myself by being very pleased with the bourgois version - very light and flattering

clinique almost makeup - different kind of thing - like a tinted moisturiser but a bit more coverage - v easy to do

sherbetdipdab · 12/06/2008 15:59

I'm 28 weeks! Being pregnant makes my skin nice too, although my tan is fake

JackieNo · 12/06/2008 16:02

Agree on the mineral foundation being good - it contains some zinc, which apparently is healing for spots. And it last well, plus I find you can use the foundation as a cover-up, using a little foam eyeshadow applicator.

moodlumthehoodlum · 12/06/2008 16:05

Not Chanel Prolumiere. Tis Rubbish. Not Vitalumiere, you see, PRO lumiere. Tis for those with crocodile skin.

Twinkie1 · 12/06/2008 16:05

Estee Lauder Daywear Plus - is like a tinted moisturiser but one colour fits all - is great - you cannot go wrong with it and it doesn't feel like you are actually wearing make up.

You should go to a department store and tell them you are a novice and get them to give you lots of samples of ones that match your skin - I do this all the time to get freebies.

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 12/06/2008 16:08

i use bobbi brown which has good staying power. the chanel stuff is lovely but tends to slide off.

whatever you decide buy a foundation brush. i was a poo poo about them untilmy sister bought me one. you use far less makeup and it looks better.

EffiePerine · 12/06/2008 16:09

Bobbi Brown is great, good coverage but feels really light. They do a fab concealer kit as well.

champagneSuperBunting · 12/06/2008 16:17

Stila illuminating moisturizer is FAB

I hate foundation, but ordered some of the LilyLolo mineral foundation, and its fab. Great coverage, but looks really natural. And dead easy to use too.

I like that they do the tiny tester pots so that you can try it out without major investment (apart from the brush)

cremolafoam · 12/06/2008 16:48

i am really torn about what to get. i have just run out of NO7 radient glow.it is OK but TBH the tone was a bit dark.
I looked at mineral makeup today- the stuff you put on with a brush.please assure me it doesn't look really trwoelled on and thick.when i put it on my hand it seemed powdery and cakey-I do not want to look made up but rather natural.I have super dry skin with a reddish tinge-pink cheeks in other words

mollysawally · 12/06/2008 17:07

Thinking about it I think I've got dry skin. Its hard to tell as I have eczema so get dry patches which are really hard to cover with make up.

My skin tone is olive although the eczema means I have reddish patches as well.

Quite hard to find out which make up is best.

Still haven't been brave enough to get samples

Mineral foundation. I wasn't sure at first but I love it now, I'd never go back to liquid. It's all a bit trail and error. I bought the mineral bronzer and it great.

JackieNo · 12/06/2008 17:13

cremolafoam - not sure that mineral foundation is great for very dry skin - you could try one of the tester pots though, and see.
