If you are boring like me did you regret a second lobe piercing

I’m mid 40s and extremely boring style-wise (slightly tongue in cheek!). I’ve been contemplating a second lobe piercing - largely because I have so many beautiful stud earrings I don’t wear, but for some reason I’m hesitant. Anyone had it done and regret it? Or am I overthinking?

Watching with very interest.
I've been considering the same thing.
Just not sure.

BDenergy · 14/12/2025 21:24

I think you’re really overthinking this. It’s an ear piercing. Do it and if you don’t like it then let them heal up.
I have two lobe piercings and like two studs or a stud and a hoop.

Trinity69 · 14/12/2025 21:24

I’m probably not the best person to answer although I am quite boring but I have 4 on one lobe and three in the other. Do it! If you hate it you can let them heal up.

edited because I can’t type.

I'm 46. I had my first lobe piercing (one in each ear) at 10 years old having begged my mum forever. Then when I went to uni I had my second lobe piercings done... and my mum did too strangely! Then at 43 I had my third lobe piercings done and three helixes - two on one side and one on the other - I like being lopsided! I have never regretted it! I love my piercings and if I don't wear anything on a daily basis (which I haven'y really since August as I broke one of my thumbs so was less dextrous) then no one notices, they're not obvious holes if you see what I mean?

Mydogissnoring · 14/12/2025 21:26

I’m very boring. The rebel in me went for a second piercing. Stud in one, small hoop in the other.
love them both.
Do It.

MakeMineStrong · 14/12/2025 21:26

I had 2nd at 45 and since been back for 3rd and a high lobe. I have fine jewellery in them - gold and 2mm diamond. Also have inner helix diamond. Love them all.

Misschattyx · 14/12/2025 21:26

Hey I say go for it! I felt quite boring some years ago and after doing a Google I noticed some lovely piercing ideas. I thought maybe it would up my style a little. Sounds strange I know but it actually worked. I then went on to have 3rds done and now have 7 in one ear and 3 in the other and match different earrings so it feels unique to me. I always get compliments on my earrings. I even went on to have a septum piercing back last year too I do think simple things like that can change your image and the way your feel about yourself.

ObliviousCoalmine · 14/12/2025 21:26

Just do it and if you don’t like it, take it out. Definitely overthinking!

patchlang · 14/12/2025 21:27

I always wanted to do this, maybe have a three even but I never felt like I was pretty enough to get away with it and I feel I am too old now.

KnickerlessParsons · 14/12/2025 21:30

I had my seconds done in my 50s and love them. Thinking of getting third ones

Never too old for a piercing and I'm sure you are pretty so don't put yourself down. I was scared of having each piercing but gave up caring and had what I wanted and I love them. They're very unique to me and actually made me feel better about myself. Go for it!

Showmethedrugs · 14/12/2025 21:31

Oh you’re all amazing and/or amazing enablers… I’m mostly convinced. Has anyone let their piercing close up? The single thing I think stopping me is the thought of hating it, letting them close up and having a scar.

I mean I don’t wish to brag, but I have lovely scar free lobes 🤣

This makes me really sad, @patchlang. It’s a perfect example of how us women are stopped from doing things by societal norms and self limiting beliefs which simply don’t serve us. There’s no attractiveness barometer for ear piercing and no upper age limit.
Do it, if you’d like to!

I had my seconds done first when I was younger and let them heal up and had no scar at all. The only time it may show a small scar is if they've been in for years and you decide to take them out but even then would be a tiny scar. I had mine repierced in my late 20s

DeQuin · 14/12/2025 21:39

I got three done in one ear as a teen. I'm never wear earrings ever any more and haven’t for 15 years so so (am mid 50s now). I have short hair. The marks in my ear are almost invisible. I don’t regret getting them at all - had lots of fun with them when I was an earring person. Do it.

LBOCS2 · 14/12/2025 21:52

Literally the only thing that would happen if you had them done and hated them so let them close up is that you would have wasted your money. No drama, no scar, nothing except some cash down the drain.

I got my first lobes done at 10, then second and third on one ear at 14, then the other ear at 15… then a whole load of other piercings, but hadn’t had anything new since I was in my teens. I took my youngest to get her ears pierced for her 9th birthday this year and she somehow persuaded me to get my daith done while I was there. That was pretty painful tbh. Lobes on the other hand, are fine!

Mich1986 · 14/12/2025 22:05

I recently got my tragus done for my 40th!! Do it, you only live once.

henlake7 · 14/12/2025 22:12

I'm kinda wanting to get my lobes done again but I admit I'm abit of a baby about it!
First time I had my ears pierced one got swollen and infected and the whole earring disappeared inside my earlobe!😬

Lobleylimlam · 14/12/2025 22:14

Im 'boring' i guess as truly cba with styling hair and make up etc but still wanted to feel i had something different? So i got mine done about a year ago and ive bought loads of earrings and i love having different ones in for different outfits/occasions!!

dementedpixie · 14/12/2025 22:15

Im 52 and got the 2nd and 3rd lobe done on one side earlier this year. I already had 3 in the other ear so now I have 3 in each. My newest ones did take a while to heal but are fine now

KitsyWitsy · 14/12/2025 22:17

I have two lobe piercings. Currently have two small hoops on each ear.

I have a second and frequently don’t have an earring in it. You don’t notice it’s there if I’m not wearing anything in it.

SwedishEdith · 14/12/2025 22:22

I've got three piercings in one ear - done in my late teens/early twenties. Every few years I check if I can still get an earring through and I can! You can't really see any scars though. I'm thinking of getting the other ear done to match. I do like tiny twinkly little studs in the second and third holes but I've not worn three earrings for nearly 40 years.

Should also say I’ve had the second for about 20 years

Covidwoes · 14/12/2025 22:23

I got this done at 38! Now 40, and don’t regret it at all. I wish I had had it done sooner.
