Tulle skirt with flattering waistband

I think I’m probably looking for something that doesn’t exist, but I’ve got an idea in my head for a festive party outfit which features a black tulle skirt.

However, I’m a size 14, so I’m looking for a flattering waistband and ideally the skirt would smooth over the belly and have the fullness starting from the hips rather than the stomach area.

i had one a few years ago which I really wanted to love but essentially it was a big puffy skirt with a thin waistband, and this meant that the fullness started immediately from the waist. So I know exactly what I don’t want but not sure where to find what I DO want.

is this an impossible dream or can anyone make any recommendations?

ideally I would prefer it not to have different tiers of fabric for that raggedy edges look. I’m thinking more sophisticated older ballerina 🤩

There’s so many options but not always easy to see the shape around the waist. Hoping someone might have a personal recommendation 🤩

Tk Maxx had some lovely different ones. Im the same size as you and I tried on with an elastic waist and then puffiness seemed to puff out more lower down the thigh if that makes sense. They had some gorgeous different styles and colours!

@NancyCarey , I was bumping mainly. I thought the Zara one was nearest to the brief.
TK Maxx is a good suggestion. Another thought was to get an elasticated waist one and sew it onto the hips of a cheap lycra mini skirt.

OP, I have got exactly what you are looking for, although a size smaller, from Vinted.

It’s vintage monsoon, (search that plus monsoon twilight) and it has a proper waistband, shaping down to the hips and then layers of tulle flaring out from there. Basically, being vintage, it’s properly made. Cost a fiver.

I just bought one on Vinted. It's from Roman. I'm a size 14-16 but the skirt is an 18 and it is very flattering on. It was new with tags so perhaps they still sell them.on the Roman site. I've not bought from Roman before but I really wanted a tulle skirt and took a chance on this one on Vinted.

This one is absolutely beautiful and hangs really nicely but it’s probably a tad longer than I would prefer.

I have the answer!! It’s from Asda it’s gorgeous, size down for less bulk round the middle. Don’t be put off by the styling in the picture, it’s so nice

This is the Roman one. There's currently two on vinted and maybe there will be more Roman stuff on eBay.

I also have three gorgeous maxi chiffon skirts from Chic Wish but they are VERY LONG - perfect for me as I’m 5’ 9 and all leg but you would likely need to get it taken up.
