I’m 49 and have no idea how to dress for a night out any more. City centre, weekend night out type thing, meal, bar etc. I just feel old and wrong! would love some guidance please.

I’m very average height (5’6”) and size 10.

thank you for any ideas/links!

Kate Hiscox has a nice weekly blog where she puts outfits together. She’s also on insta. You’ll get inspiration for all events and seasons. She’s done one recently on party wear.

Wears My Money

I spent it all on clothes by the looks of things...

I just wanted to say a big thank you especially for the insta links (I am converted!). I love the inspiration on there - there’s so many quite basic items that transform with the way they are put together. I am looking forward to going shopping over overhauling my wardrobe this weekend!

My go-to are jeans or trousers, a silk blouse and a sparkly jumper or cardigan at this time of year.

Just wear what you wanted to wear when you were 25 but couldn't afford to buy lol

@Toooldtopretend I only use Insta for this purpose! You are right about the basic items and quite often using something that you already have but transforming it into a different outfit.

I hope you have a lovely party and perhaps you can share a pic of your outfit?!

Hello OP I understand the way that you feel and I'm sorry for the negative comments you've had. You've also had some great advice which I hope helps you might ike to look at https://www.instagram.com/melissamurrellpersonalstyling#

I think have a massive try on, hopefully find an outfit that works for you and that you can then build on. In time you'll find your style and brands you like and can then just add bits along the way. As others have said, footwear is an instant update.

Good Luck on your journey.
