winter wedding guest dress

Im going to a wedding this December. I need a dress. Could be full length, could be more of a cocktail or party dress. I’m 5ft2, green eyes, brown hair, size 10 but big hips (!). I love chocolate brown & almost any green & orange. Any ideas?

I like the red one! (I think it would be OK at this particular wedding).
The orange feels v summery & yes sadly that other one does feel too short for me.

That might be worth trying on! I wasn’t keen on velvet but this one is very pretty

I hadn't come across Alilce + Olivia before. On WLI now. If I lose the weight, I think i might treat myself as a reward. there were about 10 dresses and half a dozen jumpers/tops I'd like to buy from there! I'll have top pick ONE.

I love the red too. I couldn't wear that colour as it wouldn't suit me, but if it works for you - go for it!

Just realised it’s also polyester though. I might still try it but I was hoping for something not polyester. It’s a great brand though - I’d forgotten them so thanks for reminding me

There is currently an ongoing discussion elsewhere on Mumsnet about dress recommendations & what constitutes "frumpy" ... & Phase Eight immediately came to mind! I say that as someone who, at 58, is probably older than their target audience too ...

That is, admittedly, passable - but the Me + Em one in chocolate velvet is a much nicer upgrade.

I didn't think I would be seen dead in velvet, but this turned out to be incredibly flattering on. DH said I looked sexy, and he never says that!
