Own your apron belly ladies!

I have lost a shed load of weight this year. It's not been enough to lose the apron belly I've had for the last 30 years.

I need new knickers. None of the models in any of the shops I shopped in today had an apron belly like mine. I started the day getting depressed. I ended it thinking stuff them all, I need to own my belly.

So here it is.

Any of you willing to post your apron belly pics like me?

This is the only thing I'll post on this thread, and apologies in advance if it's not welcome.

But DPs "apron belly" is sexy as fuck. Because she's sexy as fuck, and her stomach is a part of our history together.

How peculiar. Why on earth are you asking ‘ladies’ 🤮 to post photos of their bellies? Fine to discuss, not fine to encourage personal photos which can be seen anywhere.

Same thought here. Mind boggling re what ‘help me out’ might mean 😬

it's just a tummy!

InfoSecInTheCity · 28/10/2025 22:22

I’ve lost a total of 9 and a half stone from my highest weight, 6 and a half of that in the last 18 months. I look like a melted candle beneath my clothes but it’s all coverable and I look much better in my clothes than I used to.

Well done on losing the weight! Can’t understand why people are reporting you… very strange.

Own the body you have, it’s you and you are it. Our tummies housed our babies, all those moments of excitement and butterflies, nervous anxious, dread, when our tummies dropped at bad news, childhood sickness, morning sickness, full bellies after our favourite meals, intuitive feelings, the knowing and seeing that comes from deep within … it is part of our stories and who we are. It’s more than how we look and who cares what anyone thinks, life is much more than looks… Be proud and own it, I salute you!

Wishing14 · 28/10/2025 22:30

Your tummy is beautiful by the way

It's just her belly, seriously it's not as if she's mooning her bare arse at us.

I've pretty much got rid of mine as I've put on a chunk of weight that I had lost, I'd rather have the apron.

Is it just me that thinks men use the term ladies much more frequently than women do?

Why is Mumsnet happy to host this thread where women are encouraged to share close up images of usually private areas of their bodies to strangers all over the world? It is so so SO bizarre? Surely there must have been lots of reports.

There have also been many, many threads in the health section where people were posting photos of their vulvas, bumholes, piles etc and apparently that is also perfectly normal. It took someone spreading csa images over the site for them to decide that actually maybe they should block photos of genitals

Could have written this myself well done on your weight loss

littleburn · 29/10/2025 09:21

I have a shelf from my c section. I’ve lost almost 3 stone recently, so it’s smaller but definitely still there! I’ve never had a flat stomach and actually liked my gently curved stomach pre kids. It’s the way the c section stitches/scar tissue yank it in that’s the issue.

mcdog · 29/10/2025 09:35

NotEnoughRoom · 27/10/2025 22:09

Not an apron, as such, but from the side view I have a B shaped belly - fat above and below the belly button - never seen anyone else with that - very weird and a pain in the butt for finding clothes that flatter!

I have this too :) and I’m not sure where is came from either because I’ve only noticed it in the last year.

BlueandPinkSwan · 29/10/2025 09:49

I've had 6 c sections - it is possible, I'm living proof of it and have an apron like OP. It really used to get me down and until wise words from d2 a few years back made me think.
We were talking about what it was like when I was pregnant with her and how big I got, she was no.5. She said It was amazing that I had carried her in a deluxe hotel room for 9 months, where she was safe, warm and well fed. The room had had other occupants but she was still able to live and grow.
That's why I now am proud of my apron, the hotel may have collasped but it helped give life to my beautiful kids and without it they wouldn't be here.

Agree. I’m sorry to say, but I think some people are posting here in good faith, but I’m not sure about the OP.

Shame on you and all the other naysayers on this thread.

Are you all so arrogant that you think that the wonderful women who've posted describing their apron belly or shown photos of their bellies have not thought this through for themselves? Why do you feel the need to "warn"? What does it add to the thread?

Tbh, it's attitudes like yours that keeps our apron bellies hidden and not being modelled in the underwear stores I was getting depressed in.

Next time you see an apron belly on a beach, I hope you internally applaud that woman. rather than try to make her feel small like you have us apron bellies on this thread.

I am extremely grateful to all those ladies who have made me feel better about my overhang. I hope others have taken heart from this thread too

I think you could’ve done all that without soliciting pictures. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Not so much arrogance but an understanding that the online world is not a safe haven in which we can comfortably share ourselves. If you think it is, you’re incredibly naive.

There have been numerous male trolls/perverts who have used mumsnet to encourage posters to post photos over the years. Not saying you are doing that, but it's hardly surprising that people might approach a thread like this with caution

Sorry to say "ladies" but any one of you who's posted a picture here in good faith has 100% been added to this loser's spank bank.

No one is wanting to make the women with less than perfect bodies feel bad - all that is happening is that some women here are concerned about the type of posting you are doing, based on previous experience of less than savoury characters here.

Somethingsnapped · 01/11/2025 13:29

I won't post a picture because I'm very private, and wouldn't post any photo of myself on the Internet, but I have something of an apron belly after multiple c sections. I don't hate mine particularly. I don't love it, but equally, it's part of my story and makes me who I am.

What is the other thread by op that has been reported?
