Own your apron belly ladies!

I have lost a shed load of weight this year. It's not been enough to lose the apron belly I've had for the last 30 years.

I need new knickers. None of the models in any of the shops I shopped in today had an apron belly like mine. I started the day getting depressed. I ended it thinking stuff them all, I need to own my belly.

So here it is.

Any of you willing to post your apron belly pics like me?

Because I'd had a depressing day of looking at all shapes and sizes of model, but none with apron bellies. It's as if the many of us that have them just don't exist.

So I thought I'd share mine to encourage those of us who do have an apron belly that we can be seen too.

Two C sections, plus now being well past pension age, plus some health issues that make exercise difficult. But definitely no photos!

Again, why do you want photos, surely you can google what you want?

Nope. I have diastasis recti and a huge overhang. Nothing fits properly, nothing looks good. It either fits over the tummy and is baggy everywhere else or fitting nicely and you can see the weird bulges over my lower tummy.

Having lost 3 stone it is now even worse and I have off to have a tummy tuck on Friday. No amount of fancy pants is holding this in lol!

Why on earth does it bother you so much to have to repeat yourself?

Op my way of dealing with it is having surgery next year I’ve always had overhang since my teens I’ve been all weights so I do understand

I won’t post a photo but another apron haver here 🙋‍♀️ partly due to abdominal surgery for cancer 9 years ago plus recently losing 5 stones and despite being a healthy BMI at last the belly ain’t going nowhere! I buy Snag super high waist knickers which are both comfy and hold it all in nicely.

I have a pretty decent apron belly going on (also a little overhang at my waist too).
Mine is purely from losing over 7st, being older now so the skin doesn't have much stretch and just being predisposed to carrying fat there.
Luckily it is mostly loose skin so I can smoosh it down and it doesn't look bad....as long as im dressed!

Why is Mumsnet happy to host this thread where women are encouraged to share close up images of usually private areas of their bodies to strangers all over the world? It is so so SO bizarre? Surely there must have been lots of reports.

less than half the weight I used to be I’m making peace (slowly) with my apron belly - it is what it is!

Well bellies aren't normally all that private. Every other teen around here has theirs on full display even in the autumn chill, and people parade around beaches etc.

I think what you are really meaning is apron bellies are not normally on display - which is judgmental and pretty much the op's whole point.

It kind of proves your whole point op!

People think a less than pancake-flat belly is somehow unfit for public consumption. I think you have started a really important conversation around it.

I have a meno belly exacerbated by IBD. Mine doesn't hang down, but I do look pregnant. I'm not overweight but look like a happy Buddha when naked, big belly skinny limbs.
