Own your apron belly ladies!

I have lost a shed load of weight this year. It's not been enough to lose the apron belly I've had for the last 30 years.

I need new knickers. None of the models in any of the shops I shopped in today had an apron belly like mine. I started the day getting depressed. I ended it thinking stuff them all, I need to own my belly.

So here it is.

Any of you willing to post your apron belly pics like me?

Feeling lonely here ladies.

Please help me out

I’ve posted a picture

I still have a small apron and definitely the B shape from the side. I am five foot 4 and weigh 8 stone 8.

I am however sixty, which has contributed to my belly shape.

Why do you want women posting photos? Isn't it enough to have people commenting they have one and what they do about it.
The only people I see with their lower belly on show are teenagers. Who cares how it looks.

Be less of a twat. It’s very annoying.

StrongLikeMamma · 28/10/2025 07:45

Are you swimming and doing Pilates op? Both extremely helpful.

MaryBeardsShoes · 28/10/2025 07:53

It’s ok not to post a photo of your belly online to a bunch of strangers. It’s not about being brave or not! It’s ok to have boundaries!

They are just bodies, totally normal. We could collectively just choose not to care about what we are told we should look like.

fourpaws · 28/10/2025 07:55

Well I am reasonably fit, I do weights, yoga and running. I am not overweight. And I have two children, one born by C-section 25 years ago. And obviously, I have an apron.

Mine's due to abdominal hysterectomy 15 years ago actually.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 28/10/2025 08:00

I have an apron from abdominal surgery for cancer 20 years ago.

I’m not posting a picture but it’s grim. I’ve lost 4 stone recently so it’s not that I am overweight, I’m now 9st 1 at 5ft 6. It is just loose skin and stubborn fat that won’t shift.

I do abdominal exercises and just see it as part of my story really.

Mid rise knickers are your friend, I wear innersy from Amazon.

Trentdarkmore · 28/10/2025 08:00

Not posting a picture, but thank you so much for this thread, OP.

Zanzara · 28/10/2025 08:49

Asda George of all places do some very good full cotton briefs with a lace top at a bargainous £8.50 for five pairs or £17 for ten. They are excellent, feel stylish and comfortable, wash well and all is safely gathered in. I picked a pack up in store only yesterday. Other colours are also available.

Why are you asking people to post pictures which are then on the internet for the entire world to see?

It's enough that people are sympathizing and sharing stories.

I posted mine because I am not ashamed of it, and I don't think other women should be continually exclusively shown images of "nice flat young" bellies and feel they are different and abnormal. We are the normal women, this is what we look like. AI, kindly train yourself on my normal body.

SuffolkUnicorn · 28/10/2025 09:43

I buy primark full briefs they hold it in

Fishingboatbobbingnight · 28/10/2025 09:59

Tummy tuck 6 months ago. No clothes fitted. Size 8 top and bottom. Size 16/18 around waist. Also overhang kept getting sore. Best thing I ever did.

spoonbillstretford · 28/10/2025 10:07

How do you get an apron belly? I'm 50, have two DDs and have been everything from a size 6 to 18, weighing between 8.5 stone and 14.5 stone as an adult. I've always had a little poochy rounded bit below my belly button but that's it. Obviously had fat on my middle when I was bigger. Is it because I've always exercised and have good muscle tone that I don't have one?

MightyGoldBear · 28/10/2025 10:23

I have diastasis recti. Big babies on a small frame just broke my stomach muscles so they won't go back without surgery.
So I have the winning combination of small apron belly at the bottom and big hard pregnant stomach at the top where all my organs have just spilled forward. It's agony every day. I'm a size 10/12 now and even when I was 9 stone I still had it so its not about losing weight.

Ofcourse it's not covered on the NHS so I'm slowly slowly saving up for reconstructive surgery. I can not wait to not be in pain everyday.

I know every body is different but I've had this different body since my first at 23. It was so depressing being that young and not seeing a single person who looked like me. Even now I don't feel represented at all when I go clothes shopping. I avoid it because it can become such a depressing experience.

Can I ask how your recovery was and any tips you'd give someone else planning one. Thanks

In my case its due to scar tissue from abdominal surgeries, and I've also given birth to 3 9 pounders, and then I've lost weight this year. Poor belly, its been through the wars.

I'm now a size 14, I was a size 18. Belly is like an empty balloon thats been blown up and let down again, and the empty bit hangs over the scars.

That, coupled with the enormous pants, and boobs sagging down to meet them, mean I am less attractive now I am fitter and slimmer than when I was fat and filled out a bit.

Lots of different reasons. In my case, I am naturally quite slim build and had two c-sections which caused it.

How peculiar. Why on earth are you asking ‘ladies’ 🤮 to post photos of their bellies? Fine to discuss, not fine to encourage personal photos which can be seen anywhere.

Id also love to hear about this. Recovery, results etc.

my PT took video of me doing lunges at the gym yesterday. All I could see was my belly. It made me sad because I was proud of what I’d done.

Periperi2025 · 28/10/2025 10:58

I've lost 2st 9 on Mounjaro since July - yeh!
My belly apron is doing okay, but my sad face belly button looks entirely depressed now - ha!
