Anyone else just blah about buying what’s on offer this season?

So far I’ve bought a red jumper from Hush, and a knitted dress from Jigsaw and I think I’m done.

I ordered and returned a few items and I think I just CBA and will wear what I’ve got.

In fact I’ve sold more things on Vinted than buying new or 2nd hand. I’m culling big time. Anything I’m not using is going.

Anyone else done with Autumn/ winter before it’s even got going?

I bought two very disappointing jumpers from m&s last autumn (both bobbled first wash, one went from bright cream to dull) so not bothered looking in there. Did get 2 pairs of baby cord jeans from cotton traders which I wore a lot and are still like new.
The only thing I've bought so far this year is a White Stuff coat. Lovely fit and colour. Will go with everything I wear.

BusterGonad · 22/10/2025 08:01

Oh, and just to add, the dark grey one is a really lovely fabric combination 50% cotton, 30% viscose (which some people hate but I actually like) and 20% wool.

Seeing as everything this season is shitty chocolate brown, I won't be buying anything.

I normally look forward to autumn/winter as I prefer the colours but will be saving money this year.

Im not having that! How dare you put shit and chocolate in the same sentence!😆

I am on the hunt for a particular jumper dress off Vinted but it never seems to come up in a small, which is very frustrating.
I have bought a couple of the viral slouchy Primark jumpers in cream and black...the irony of loving colour and pattern is that sometimes you can have abit too much, I just needed some cosy plain jumpers to go with everything.
I will probably get some more thermals as well. I really like the ones with pretty lace edging as the look nice under dresses.

Ineedanewsofa · 22/10/2025 19:11

Have ordered a few bits this season and sent most back! As per pp I’ve had more success going to shops, needed new jeans after dropping a size and got two brilliant pairs from Primark’s Edit Collection. Also a leopard print pair from H&M, a choc brown jumper also from there and a pringle style knit in burgundy and pink from New Look. My one online win was the grey version of my fave &otherstories jumper dress, down to £27 😊
If anyone can point me in the direction of some flat brown suede or not shiny leather slim boots I’d be very grateful!

BamberGirl · 22/10/2025 19:29

I don’t want to wear clothes that are a dirgey poo colour, just can’t get on with the brown/beige trend, so frumpy unless you’re 20.

i did buy a fab wide leg denim jumpsuit from M&S that I love but otherwise haven’t seen anything much to buy.

Brogues · 22/10/2025 19:41

I normally buy more in Autumn and Winter than any other time of the year and although I love current offerings/colours there are only small gaps in my wardrobe.

IDontHateRainbows · 22/10/2025 20:07

I see the price of clothes in the shops and nearly pass out from shock. Vinted/ charity all the way for me now.

RaraRachael · 22/10/2025 21:03

@henlake7 is shitty dark brown more acceptable? Tbh I shouldn't have used shit and chocolate together 😆

Chocolate is one of my favourite things.
Dark brown clothes one of my least favourite.

BusterGonad · 23/10/2025 02:24

There is way too much brown at the moment. But I'm loving all the burgundy and forest green.

I love brown, especially chocolate brown. Burgundy and forest green clothing is always easy to find, chocolate not so much.

yesmother · 23/10/2025 02:39

I hate the wine/ burgundy colour current so that's an easy no. I'm also not keen on some of the browns so again an easy no! I've bought two cashmere cardis and that's probably going to be my lot. I've loads of coats, jackets, boots, hats etc. I don't work so no need for work stuff.

Do you think? I've never really found them until now. But I don't have that many shops to visit so that's probably why.

DirtyBird · 23/10/2025 04:54

I love the current style , it’s much more comfortable. And I feel it suits more body types than previous styles.

Idontcareboutthestateofmyhair · 23/10/2025 06:12

I've bought a leather (faux) funnel neck jacket and brown patent heeled boots from river island. Brown v neck knitted polo top from next. Four pair of cords (brown, black, navy, green) waiting for the wine to come back in stock, from both next and m&s. A lace top and numerous other v-neck tops, jeans, 2 shirts, chain necklaces from H&M. 2 cardis and ribbed long sleeve t-shirts from m&s. I love winter fashion! I have numerous items waiting in my wishlist from all of the above shops. I don't buy many summer clothes as I find most bleh but make up for it in winter. H&M and river island have some stunning pieces this season. I'm 52 and only 5' tall so these are the shops that suit me best. In most shops the clothes are too big and dowdy. I also buy trousers from pixie girl for petites. But river island and next are best for jeans.

Lonemumallthetime · 23/10/2025 06:36

Im tending to go more with convenience now so loads from h&m where you can get the new trends plus free delivery. Basics are from Zara like coats. Need colourful, warm scarves!!!

bluejelly · 23/10/2025 08:07

CurlyCabbage · 18/10/2025 21:52

I quite like the current ‘trends’ but thats only because ive relised the wider bottoms and barrel styles really suit me. They balance out a top heavy figure well.

The issue im finding is that everywhere seems to be complying to some sort of uniform. Each shop has the same 5 pieces in the same 4 colours. Every influencer is wearing and advertising pieces of said uniform. There is no variability at all. Its very boring for a season usually rich in texture, fabric and colours.

make it stop.

I agree with every word you wrote. The shops have become so homogeneous

bluejelly · 23/10/2025 08:09

Having said that, I mostly shop on Vinted now anyway, where there is endless variety (though not always ‘this’ season…

Pepperedpickles · 23/10/2025 08:38

I’m surprised there’s so much hate for brown / beige / khaki etc. I absolutely love it! I guess we’re all different but I am really enjoying the current trends at the moment. I’ve got several jumpers from New Look and Next and some really lovely comfortable wide leg corduroy brown trousers from Next. I’m 45 and haven’t really enjoyed any of the “in” things until recently.

RaraRachael · 23/10/2025 10:35

The fashion gods are definitely conspiring against me this year - brown, green, burgundy, beige - all colours I'd never wear. Then add wide or barrel leg trousers 😪

As a PP said, if you don't like this year's stuff you've had it as all the shops are the same.

Because they simply don't suit me at all and make me look washed out and ill. I suit jewel colours.

Lucelady · 23/10/2025 11:09

I've been on a low buy this year.
Due to medical leave I didn't need much.
I bought a raspberry boxey jumper from house of Bruar (it bobbled) and I'm coverting the pink 50s cardi from Boden. Very famous five.
I have new jeans from Tu (straight, dark).
I've got a wardrobe of too big clothes after being ill. I'll sell them and then hopefully I'm retiring soon so no more corporate wear although I defo need tailoring. I look flappy otherwise.
I might go to Paris for a jacker and wear it to waitrose!

Nitgel · 23/10/2025 11:12

Everything is the same as last year just different colours. It's.almost impossible to get some.cotton straight leg smart work trousers.

Purplephase · 23/10/2025 15:57

I love all the chocolate brown around. I'm trying to find short sleeved, chocolate, v necked T-shirt/ tops (ideally cotton) and am drawing a blank. Anyone got any ideas?🙂

Lucelady · 23/10/2025 16:02

@Purplephase ketwell colours do all shades all year round. Also lands end.

logplant · 23/10/2025 17:04

I’m feeling the same, completely underwhelmed
