Is this dress too much for a 50 year old?

I'm a size 12. Not especially busty. I'm just nit sure if the lacy bit around the badice is a bit much for an old bird like me...
Thoughts please

I'm 47 and would wear it x

whatwhatwhatisgoingon · 05/10/2025 17:25

I think 50 isn’t “old”. I would wear it and you should too!

TalulahJP · 05/10/2025 17:26

It’s very low. It’ll show the middle joining piece of your bra. If that’s ok go for it. As long as you don’t have rolls of fat like I have youll be fine!! If you have wear a slip under it, black or red or something for a pop of colour.

CrostaDiPizza · 05/10/2025 17:42

Depends on where you are planning to wear it.

Figroll16 · 05/10/2025 17:45

I love it! I’m 46 and I’d wear it!

Stormyday34 · 05/10/2025 17:47

I don’t think it is. I like it

DoodleLug · 05/10/2025 17:47

For what occasion? I'm not sure I'd consider anyone too old. It's possible to have a body shape where people might think it was ill advised but if you like how it looks on you then go for it.

As PP said you could wear something beneath if you didn't want flesh showing through.

spoonbillstretford · 05/10/2025 17:49

I'm 50 and wouldn't wear it as it's a bit shapeless and ageing for me.

Age doesn't matter, it's shape, confidence and how you feel in it that does.

Sidneysays · 05/10/2025 17:51

So would maybe wear it out for a birthday dinner and also maybe NYE.
I think the shape would suit me. I have a similar shaped dress in satin which looks nice on. It's just the skin showing I'm not sure of

I'm 60 and wear something similar. It's a lovely dress.

If it suits you and you love it , wear it!

Strawberrysummer25 · 05/10/2025 17:52

Nothing wrong with style however the quality doesn't look great and quality fabric does tend to sit better. If you are happy with it, wear it.

TakeMe2Insanity · 05/10/2025 17:54

50 isn’t old anymore. If you feel good and confident then go for it.

Darner · 05/10/2025 17:54

It’s fine. As long as your tits aren’t droopy and showing through the lace bit, you’ll be grand. 😂

Sidneysays · 05/10/2025 17:55

Ha the quality probably isn't amazing because it's from New Look but honestly I don't tend to buy expensive clothes really. Most of what I wear tends to come from New Look or H&M.

I'd agree with this. The dress is a bit meh

ginasevern · 05/10/2025 17:56

I think you might need to be smaller rather than larger in the boob department but otherwise I love it and would definitely have worn it at 50.

Ha. No they're not droopy. Never really been big enough to droop!

Ah it's interesting that you both think it's shapeless. It looks like it has quite a shape to it to me but really I almost never wear dresses so maybe I'm deluded. Could you show me an example of a more 'shaped" dress please? Not fussed on price because I just want to get an idea of what you mean really.

Gymbunny2025 · 05/10/2025 17:59

I like it, but I don’t wear dresses I can’t wear a bra with.

Would be fine to wear in your 50s though. In fact I think it would look more odd on a 20 year old!

Renamed · 05/10/2025 18:08

might look sort of motheaten. I think you’d really have to check the fit of the bust part

Sidneysays · 05/10/2025 18:09

Omg moth eaten! I can't unsee that now 😳

Or heaven forbid you… don’t wear a bra with it!!😲

sambasunsays · 05/10/2025 18:14

Personally I think it’s lovely. Very simple and elegant. Sadly I’m too fat for it but I’d wear it of the shape suited me. I’m 50.

londongirl12 · 05/10/2025 18:20

It’s really nice. Go for it!!!
