Morning!
A new thread. Autumn beckons, lets hope we get some interesting looks to discuss!

I love Sophie - she's the current 'unsung hero' in my opinion - she's raising awareness of big issues across the world in a very understated way. You have to search quite hard to find that's she overseas again working.

And yes, both of those dresses are great on her - I particularly like the Beulah one. I'll even get on board with the shoes given what she's doing, the environment and the climate.

Maireas · 13/11/2025 15:21

Yes, and I like the fact that her work focuses on women and children. Their rights, and the shocking wrongs against them. She's highlighting some important stuff.

I also think she genuinely enjoys her work. She seems to be able to naturally connect with people from all walks of life and I bet her conversations go way beyond “ Have you been waiting long?”

Maireas · 13/11/2025 16:14

I agree with this and I think she's carved out a positive role for herself.

I saw the item about William and the access road to Mousehole FC! If only he could sort out the potholes in the rest of the country!

Anne has been wearing very meh outfits on her trip to Australia and Singapore. Nothing too stylish but this one is worth a mention. Apparently the photo on the left is from 1973 - over 50 years ago!

Kudos to Anne for it still fitting but where the heck is she storing 50 years of clothes in a way she can still remember or find this suit???

Bloody hell, Anne's suit is older than me!

I think that's great! I don't mean the suit, it's very much of it's time, (a little bit Roger Moore as 007), I mean wearing clothes 50 years on! I don't think there's a problem with storage because I don't think much is purchased year on year.
I think she just adds a bit to what she ordered from Susan Small in 1973.

I read that the Duke of Kent wore some of his father's suits. His father was killed in 1942.

Which is why I’m surprised that most of the royal women have some many clothes that they don’t wear. Camilla has so many blue dresses, and Kate keeps on buying more and more green and black coats, and rarely rewears things.

Maireas · 14/11/2025 08:53

It's a strange one, @PoppySeedBagelRedux .

OP posts:
Choux · 14/11/2025 09:02

Maybe the difference is married in royals versus born to it?

Although QEII was not known for rewearing much as far as I can recall so perhaps Camilla is taking her lead.

gingercat02 · 14/11/2025 09:07

Presumably the higher up the chain you are the more people we expect lovely new outfits everytime you are on the news/in the papers. This thread would be very dull if they turned out in the same thing every week.
I like that Kate has things reworked, so there is some interest without a full new item.

TiarasAndKittenHeels · 14/11/2025 09:10

To be fair to Catherine I think she tends to reuse now.
Although I see no problem at all in owning many coats, as I've said before. If I had their money I'd have a mansion or three full of clothes too. I really don't understand why people expect them to pretend they're not rich.

Maireas · 14/11/2025 09:14

I'm wondering if we'll see her wear stuff for many years to come.

OP posts:
TiarasAndKittenHeels · 14/11/2025 09:15

I think maybe for Camilla it's more that she's likely not going to be Queen for long. So over all it's not going to end up being all that many frocks. There are also diplomatic considerations - you don't want to potentially insult people by intimating that they're not worth the full regalia/whatever. That doesn't apply so much to general day-to-day visits or events, of course.

But genuinely, if a woman enjoys clothes and wants to wear lots of different dresses, especially in a public arena, I'm not sure why that's a problem.

Maireas · 14/11/2025 09:16

Yes, good points, @TiarasAndKittenHeels .

Kudos to Anne for still fitting into something she first wore 50 years ago but the safari suit should've stayed in 1973!

Her brother's too. We need an intervention.

"Safari suit interventions all around" as title for the next thread?

I really like that safari suit. Shoot me. Shoot me now.

eggandonion · 14/11/2025 11:41

I suppose a well cut safari suit is a classic. Not something I have in my wardrobe though!
Kate has a great coat collection. I think more dresses and things would be handy for when she takes her coat off.
My cousin got good use out of his dad's wartime Irish army coat. Teamed with a hat rumoured to have belonged to de Valera...Irish posters will be familiar with the style. He probably still has them and uses them...

Maireas · 14/11/2025 11:45

He must have cut quite a figure!
