Your fave black barrel leg trousers?

I'm after a pair and don't know where to start. I have a black tapered linen pair that are sort of that shape, but I'd like something a bit heavier for winter. I also have Lucy & Yak Billie cords but they're not quite what I'm after. Ideally I'd like something in a slightly smarter fabric (not sure what that would be!) with a semi-elasticated waist...does anyone have any specific recommendations, and/or links? Thank you!

Mine are these - I have posted about them before , was dubious whether the style was for me earlier on
in the year but I now have these in 4 colours!
no elasticated waist but very comfortable and a firm fabric that I would not describe as
jersey so can work as smarter wear.
Such a good price too while you work out how much you like the style !

I've been eyeing these up for a while, what is the sizing like ? I'm a 12 should I go for the medium or large ?

They are true to size I would say medium should work!

Thanks Mavis - I like the look of those but I've found Uniqlo stuff sooooo long recently, and they don't seem to have a shorter version of those online! (Although it says they do.)

I could take them up but often the shape isn't quite right. Annoyingly you have to pay to send stuff back to Uniqlo now too I think.

Ah yes they only do longer length don’t they- annoying ! I am 5’5 .. I have also worn them turned up in the warmer weather but I appreciate that might not be the look you want or be as appropriate in the cooler weather !

Not quite barrel but I can recommend Disturbia Dianne trousers.
They are balloon legged which gives a similar shape. They are a nice tailored style in a heavier fabric with semi elasticated waist and they are super comfy.
I'm 5'5 and they are a perfect length (I loved them so much I bought both colours!).

You can change the in seam length on the Uniqlo ones if that helps!

I have two pairs of those from Cos.

I have these in my Mango basket a the moment, which are sort of similar. Most sizes currently out of stock but I've got the notification on. Hoping they will come back.

@MavisBarrel / anyone else with the Uniqlo trousers - have you found they shrink after washing? Hoping not as it's a stretch fabric but have been caught out a few times with Uniqlo trousers. Currently have my size and one size up at home...

The most comfy trousers to ever grace my body. I have a real issue with fabrics and waistbands. I cannot wear jeans or anything non stretchy. Although relatively pricey these have been my saviour - also have a couple of pairs in other styles. I am a 48 year old peri-meno lady deffo not pregnant and they fit a treat.

Although these are jersey there is a range of materials and patterns.

It is annoying that they state comes in shorter and longer length but only longer comes up. You have to go to the normal ones, and there’s an option for alteration and you can choose how much shorter you want them.

I like the look of the Beyond Nine ones @Seeyouincourtyoufool - do they wash well? I don't buy much new nowadays so I don't forking ot occasionally for something I'll get lots of wear out of.

I like the Cos ones @FastFood but they might be a bit summery/light for my needs.

I have the yellow-y cream pair of these from summer and LOVE them. I ordered the navy for autumn but realised they pick up every single bit of lint, and we have a pretty fluffy cat, so had to sadly send them back.

Not trousers, but in the same order I got the Twine barrel jeans in dark indigo which are absolutely perfect. I've since ordered the lighter blue wash.

Thanks @AccidentallyWesAnderson - if I was sure on fit/size/shape is try that but you can't return them once altered. I can alter them myself tbh - I presume all they're doing is taking a bit off the bottom rather than adjusting the whole leg shape!

Yeah it’s a gamble. I have the normal ones in navy size M bought a few months ago but I haven’t worn them yet (actually forgot I had them). I’m 5’3 and I remember them being slightly too long. My weight has been up and down recently but if they still fit I’m going to order the off white and alter them by a couple of inches and take the gamble!

Edited to add - being 5’3 I wish I could do my own trouser alterations but I’ve tried and I’m rubbish!

I'd say medium weight. Not too flimsy or too heavy. Perfect for Autumn.
