I am looking for some clothes on Vinted for work in public sector, middle management and found this one. I love a bit of colour and lace. Also, looking for ideas to pair with any cardigans or coats for winter. Wondering what others think?

If you work in a wine bar in 2005 it’s fine. Otherwise, no.

Sweettreet · 12/09/2025 15:44

Oh no, sorry uploaded wrong picture, only just noticed. This is the dress I meant

Why did you mention “a bit of colour and lace“ then op? 🤔

WhiteRose9791 · 12/09/2025 16:34

SoScarletItWas · 12/09/2025 16:31

Did ye aye

Why mention the lace then?!

The answer to both is no, anyway. But I think you know that and are just playing for clicks.

Because the second dress has lace on 🤡

FeministThrowingAPrincessParty · 12/09/2025 16:36

Oh god yes it has. Even worse then.

Pollqueen · 12/09/2025 16:40

God no, not where i work or have ever worked. It's a bit OTT

DoYouWantTheHouseTour · 12/09/2025 16:41

Awfully dated and looks like you're going to a club In 2010 with some black wedges and your best mates wearing a peplum.

clotheslinefiasco · 12/09/2025 16:41

No and no

Pollqueen · 12/09/2025 16:41

Didn't see the black dress before I posted. That is much better and yes, I would wear that

As I am not the only person not to notice dark lace on a dark dress on a shit photo via a tiny phone screen, you can jog on with your pass agg clown emoji.

TheCosyViewer · 12/09/2025 16:46

It’s not really a dress you’d wear to work, looks very dated and probably wasn’t ever a great dress.

TheChosenTwo · 12/09/2025 16:47

The first one does look incredibly dated but the second one probably wouldn’t draw any comments in my workplace. I wouldn’t wear it myself but it’s fairly unremarkable - enough so that it would be fine.

TrimayrAcademy · 12/09/2025 16:47

What a thread 😮

Nope to both dresses!

Op are you very petite so have to buy short and then they come up midi length on you ?

if not, These short dresses are so dated now and old fashioned, very nineties and early 2000’s and they are not making a comeback, trust me.

edit, god also just seen the second one is also lacy. Now I definitely think you’re having a laugh.

BCBird · 12/09/2025 16:59

I'd say no.

Zempy · 12/09/2025 16:59

It’s so dated OP. And I say this as a sixty year old!!!

RampantIvy · 12/09/2025 17:09

The second dress looks very short.

SweetBaklava · 12/09/2025 17:14

Jesus no 😆 I’m public sector in a large organisation and I don’t know anyone who dresses like that to work. It’s generally smart casual not city exec!!!

It’s teal with lace sides and a mini. Aka the 90s called and want their clothes back.

I think folks aren’t looking ah the dress properly.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 12/09/2025 17:19

Awful.Sorry

Digdongdoo · 12/09/2025 17:31

It's probably appropriate. Very dated but fairly unremarkable.

Jamesblonde2 · 12/09/2025 17:31

No

TheAlcott · 12/09/2025 17:45

Second dress is marginally better but still terribly dated. Why not a Sezane-style lace top with wide legged trousers if you like lace? That would be perfectly acceptable where I work (academia).
