I am looking for some clothes on Vinted for work in public sector, middle management and found this one. I love a bit of colour and lace. Also, looking for ideas to pair with any cardigans or coats for winter. Wondering what others think?

Not for work. Yes for meal down the pub.

ThePoshUns · 12/09/2025 14:56

100 per cent definitely not!

BauhausOfEliott · 12/09/2025 14:57

It's not work wear. It's an occasion dress.

If you're working in a public sector office you will not need to be particularly dressed up. Trousers and a t-shirt or a jumper with flats, comfortable dresses with boots or trainers is more the kind of thing I'd expect to see in a public sector office environment. Some organisations wouldn't be as smart as that - mine isn't!

It’s very mother of the bride.

I’d say more like rebellious teenage sister of the bride !

Coconutter24 · 12/09/2025 14:58

That is not a work dress!! It’s an occasion dress

nellietheellie75 · 12/09/2025 14:58

Hell no! It's horrid anyway

Sera1989 · 12/09/2025 15:17

It’s quite dated and looks like it’d be very short so I don’t think so, sorry OP

DollopOfFun · 12/09/2025 15:20

It reminds me a bit of that 'is it blue or is it gold' optical illusion dress. Only, a bit more dated 😬sorry.

Trovindia · 12/09/2025 15:22

Hell no! I can't believe you are even asking. Unless you attached the wrong pic?

hungrypanda4 · 12/09/2025 15:30

If you like it get it for a night out but definitely not for work

Househassles · 12/09/2025 15:35

Pretty sure that's the Paper Dolls "Lakeside Libations" dress. If so, it's viscose with a heavy dose of nylon and elastane. If it fits you properly it'll be too tight and short for your role/workplace, and if it doesn't it will sag/bag and won't look good. I like the idea of it and the colour and contrast and I could see thinking it would work, say with tights, low heels, and longish cashmere-weight cardigan. But even for casual daytime wear, I think the fabric will let you down for being out and about in colder weather.

jamnpancakes · 12/09/2025 15:37

That's horrific !

seratoninmoonbeams · 12/09/2025 15:37

@GlastoNinja 😆🤣 a table cloth at a fortune tellers

tumblingdowntherabbithole · 12/09/2025 15:41

I mean, if by “public sector middle management” you actually mean you work in a bar, go ahead 🫣

Sweettreet · 12/09/2025 15:44

Oh no, sorry uploaded wrong picture, only just noticed. This is the dress I meant

🤣🤣

NotABiscuitInSight · 12/09/2025 15:48

Public sector middle management do not dress like that.

Either smart/casual (think wide-legged trousers, tucked in top and trainers) or just casual. It's not uncommon for up to G6/7 to dress in jeans in some Depts.

If you're wanting to emulate SLT then Google [Department] SLT and you'll get a list of names and can Google them.

Poodlelove · 12/09/2025 15:50

No it is a Granny party dress

Sweettreet · 12/09/2025 15:50

I can't edit the picture unfortunately now

FurForksSake · 12/09/2025 16:01

hmmm of course.

ShortAndIntense · 12/09/2025 16:01

Wear what you want. If it makes you feel good, go for it. I’m always overdressed for work and I don’t give a shit. I think navy, browns, blacks all the time in the office are boring. You do you OP!

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 12/09/2025 16:28

I think it's fine - which airline do you work for?

BountifulPantry · 12/09/2025 16:29

TiaKofi · 12/09/2025 14:36

It’s very clubbing in 2010

Omg yes.

Sweettreet · 12/09/2025 15:44

Did ye aye

Why mention the lace then?!

The answer to both is no, anyway. But I think you know that and are just playing for clicks.
