What kind/colour of boots? Shoes? It's nicer than the pic and is very flattering.
If you hate it, you've no need to tell me, just scroll by.

I picked mine up today (size 10 regular length) and I’m sure it’s great on some, but doesn’t do me any favours. Sleeves were indeed too puffy, too long not to get scrunched up but too short and not the right style to be folded back. Top was a great fit and LOVE the pockets, but too much material on the lower half so I looked swamped. I’m 5’2 and a slim build and just looked drowned and far too ‘Little House on the Prairie’. Taking it back tomorrow.

Sadly mine arrived and I looked like I should have been dancing on the alps minding goats. I really hope others did better with it.

Bargain for 40 quid.

OoohLaLaLa · 06/09/2025 11:03

Those that have bought this dress and love it, can I ask what size you are?

OoohLaLaLa · 06/09/2025 11:07

Just seen @noramoo’s post. I would have the same problem. That’s a shame- it’s a lovely dress!

WhereAreMyAirpods · 06/09/2025 15:36

I’m a 14. To be honest though I am too long in the tooth to give many fucks over whether something is fashionable.

CarpeVitam · 07/09/2025 00:44

As much as I like it, I will be returning mine. It is an autumn/winter-weight dress and the puff sleeves are too voluminous to wear it under a coat, so……

CarpeVitam · 07/09/2025 00:50

I’ve ordered this one instead (from Finery) as I have it the summer cotton/linen version and it is 👌🏻

It’s back in stock on line in all sizes (though not in petite dammit). But the puffy sleeves are putting me off. Love the buttons. But is it just too Jane Austen round the biceps?

How did you find the monster ruffle at the bottom? Not too Bavarian barmaidy?

No, I think the the ruffle is just fine. It’s the sleeves that are an issue for me.

CarpeVitam · 07/09/2025 10:53

@friskybivalvesSorry, I didn’t answer your question. The ruffle is not an issue at all on the Finery dress - it’s perfect! I have it in black and green and receive compliments when I wear them.

luckylavender · 07/09/2025 10:54

Ha! I’ve just styled this dress for work tomorrow. Navy Chelsea boots (Fly), navy tights.

Watchingthechaseagain · 07/09/2025 11:26

Picked mine up. Tried on excitedly. Bust too tight and waist way too tight for my large stomach. Got stuck in it. Return label printed less than an hour after collection. 😟

It’s a lovely dress though. Weighty denim, expected it to be lighter.

Betsylee · 07/09/2025 17:24

I love this dress, would really like it but now I want a £5 charity shop one!!

AzureOrca · 08/09/2025 18:44

I looked at that dress, I think it is lovely it looks so comfortable.

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 08/09/2025 21:53

Lovely dress OP, I'd still do white trainers to keep it fresh and black/brown boots as it gets colder.

This is similar but heavier.

It will go with everything so down to personal style. You could wear it in many different ways with different vibes.

mrschocolatte · 09/09/2025 07:52

I really loved the look (and price!) of this dress and it arrived yesterday. Sadly I’m returning as it was too small across the chest. I’n a size 12 with a hefty 34FF bust and they were squished and squashed like no one’s business. Fit everywhere else though. Oh well. Off on my travels again to find the elusive denim dress of my dreams.

Namechange032025 · 10/09/2025 16:36

I also loved the idea of it but looked terrible on and sending back

I'm 34 F, 5.8, hourglass shaped but long waisted. I would usually get a 14 but sometimes 12 fits better (ie oversized or vanity sizing which M&S usually is).

Got both sizes and even the 14 is too tight around my boobs, the waist sits wrong on me and then there is loads of puffyness in the skirt which is v unflattering. Sleeves fine.

I wanted to love this so much as is beautiful dress but all wrong for me.

growinguptobreakingdown · 10/09/2025 16:41

I love it. Have something very similar from Whistles which I wear summer and winter. Summer gold sandals, gold hoops. Winter I wear tan brown ankle boots with gold accessories or my DM boots.Sometimes my lilac converse. Honestly it's the most versatile dress I own

WhereAreMyAirpods · 13/09/2025 10:44

So I am wearing my dress today and have had two comments.

DD, 20 - "what is it, dress up like a Victorian day?"
DH, 50s - "it's a bit Little House on the Prairie"

🙄

I wouldn't take fashion advice from a 20 year old or a grumpy old man!
