I’ve just watched all three videos. I thought everything looked good until she put the finishing powder all over her face from one of the palettes. (Swan?) On my screen it looked like she’d dipped her face in grey icing sugar!

Interesting that she’s another who uses it as eyeshadow- it did look nice, but I wouldn’t do it myself.

Sadly, I think I mainly like them because of the pretty tins. I also can’t have any peach tones on my skin - I just look orange- and all seem to have a peachy blush included.

Having said that, as I have a £50 credit from JL, if Swan turns up there, I might succumb.

Edited

I really like the HG powders, highlighters and blush in the sets but I don't think they do the best bronzers despite owning a few. From watching various youtubers Gucci do good standalone bronzers as do YSL and Chanel and the new brand from Hung Vanngo looks to have a really good bronzer although his range is yet to arrive at Sephora UK.

Interesting @OvaHere - I don’t think I have ever really known what to do with bronzers.

I have grasped the concept of blush and highlighter, but it’s all a mystery after that!

Doubleraspberry · 15/09/2025 16:30

Bronzers scare me as I am so pale that it's far too easy to look ridiculous. And I'm no expert blender. I have fairly decent cheekbones luckily so a tiny amount just helps add a bit more definition but anything on my forehead looks silly.

IlovePond · 15/09/2025 16:38

I think it’s the forehead dabbing that confuses me @Doubleraspberry - I can’t imagine it going well for me!

I'm only really just getting the hang of them. I think, especially if like me you're very pale, it's important to have the right shade and one that's very light touch and blendable.

I only own the ones in the HG palettes currently so that's what I've been experimenting with but based on videos I've watched I feel there's better ones out there. Done right I think they add subtle colour and dimension and are nice in the spring/summer months when a base of pale foundation can look a bit pasty and flat.

If his range comes to the UK I might try and pick up the Hung Vanngo one for next spring as it looks like it melted into the skin really easily.

I’d love a HG palette but wouldn’t use it. I’m small amount of foundation., blusher, 1 eyeshadow, mascara and brow pencil person - takes 5 mins max. Would love a more polished look though.
The palettes are gorgeous though.

AlPaccacino · 15/09/2025 21:12

I’ve been using my palette for a week now and really getting on with it. I use the bronzer to contour under my cheekbones, side of nose, a few little dashes into my hairline and down my neck. Highlighter on top of my cheekbones, down nose and forehead. One of the blushers on my apples and the blend with a dusting all over of the ambient powder. Highlighter on top of my eyes and bronzer on my lids. Total face takes me 10 minutes. I think I added the photo earlier but I’ll pop it here again. Face base and eyeliner by Aldi. Brows by benefit and Eyeko mascara.

I’ve finally managed to find a demo of the Horse palette but I’m still undecided. I’ve also seen the Deer palette on someone with a darker skin tone and it worked well, whereas previously it looked too pale so I wrote it off.

In terms of bronzing for pale skin, I’ve started to do it across my forehead/hairline, following down to my cheekbones (almost like a C on either side of my face), it just gives a nice warm glow and shapes the top half of my face. If I have fake tan on I use it more

IlovePond · 16/09/2025 08:46

Thanks for the bronzer info @Thelifeofawife and @AlPaccacino

( no idea if that link will work, apologies if it doesn’t!)

This code works for 21% off at Sephora:

MVC21

It doesn’t work on the Sephora a/c but does on others.

ITookYourJoob · 16/09/2025 18:24

Anyone going for SpaceNK gwp? 🤔

Im so tempted but I don’t know if better value just to get another advent.

I fleetingly thought about it but I certainly don't need £135 worth of skincare and whilst it's a nice range of samples they are mostly very small. These gwps are only really worth it if you were buying something anyway.

OP posts:
ITookYourJoob · 16/09/2025 18:38

I’ll skip then, too. The “travel” sizes are getting smaller and smaller, more like samples.

Thank you @IlovePond. It’s working on all the items in my basket except for MakeupbyMario.

Arrearing50 · 16/09/2025 19:39

The last space GWP - and the make up one, were better. Some of those samples are so tiny, all you could really tell is if your skin was going to react from it.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 16/09/2025 20:42

Honestly, the idea of 8ml of body cleanser or whatever the amount is seems absurd. I could maybe wash one quadrant of myself with that.

I’m no environmental activist, far from it, but even manufacturing that useless size of plastic item seems like madness to the point of being ethically questionable.

Sweetpea333 · 16/09/2025 21:36

I went for it. I travel a lot and find the sizes useful. Oops!

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 16/09/2025 21:45

@Sweetpea333 that’s reasonable. I feel a bit bad for being grumpy about them above. Hope you enjoy ☺️

Doglover73 · 17/09/2025 10:01

New Cult edits. Not great imo 🤷
