Is your christmas tree up already? 😱

No not yet. It might as well be though. 😄

Thanks I knew I'd read it somewhere. Hope you love it. I caved and bought the Swan palette in the Deer case and a brush. Despite saying I wasn't going to! It's been put away for under the Xmas tree along with my Lancome case and the perfume I bought with Liberty credit...it's only September. 😳

I love the Deer case, that would be my choice too (or the fox if I couldn’t get deer).
I'm still waiting to see the horse palette. Getting serious FOMO

I have the swan palette and brush for my DIY advent, will be Day 25.
Was so tempted to use it, it is so gorgeous but have put it with all my other items for my advent.

I’m in awe of your willpower, putting off using it that long, or is it locked in a safe and your DP has changed the code?

IlovePond · 11/09/2025 14:00

I love those Hourglass palettes but can’t see me getting into face powder in my old age and it’s a lot to pay for just blusher/highlighter😿

For those who have them, are they safe to use on your eyes as well as face? One of the videos posted up thread had the influencer using them on the eyes, the other used them only on cheeks, etc. as - presumably- HG intended.

I know that some blusher/highlighter is absolutely not safe for use on eyelids, (I think Natasha Denona had specific warnings, for example), so thought I would ask on here.

IlovePond · 11/09/2025 14:04

Answered my own question 🙈

Here’s this from the Hourglass website:

FAQs:

Can you use the shades as eyeshadow?

This product is not intended for use in or around the eye area.

That’s that, then - face only.

I would love one, but I don’t think I can justify it given how much use I would actually get out of it.

I wish they did an eyeshadow version!

Doubleraspberry · 11/09/2025 14:06

I put the highlighter on my eyelids and my eyes haven't fallen out yet...

I can't emphasise enough that the powder is so light it doesn't feel like powder at all. It settles as sort of light reflecting particles!

IlovePond · 11/09/2025 14:07

I’m very tempted @Doubleraspberry !

Doubleraspberry · 11/09/2025 14:08

Why not get a mini or two from Vinted just to get a sense of how they feel on you?

IlovePond · 11/09/2025 14:10

I did that with the mini blush that was in SpaceNK last year @Doubleraspberry - I do like it.

I should keep an eye out for other shades.

I prefer liquid products usually. The Hourglass products are so finely milled, they’re like a veil. It’s honestly like photoshop for your face.

Arrearing50 · 11/09/2025 16:59

Hmm I’ve definitely used hourglass under my brows with no issues - I’m surprised some can’t as that’s a common enough highlight area.

i agree it’s a better than life sheen. I know the make up for women of a certain age articles always say avoid powders in general…

IlovePond · 11/09/2025 17:55

Thanks @BakeOffRewatch I would definitely use the blusher/highlight and perhaps bronzer, (although I have never understood how to use that).

@Arrearing50 - I have avoided powders all my life - I have genuinely never understood the attraction as they never went with my oily/combo skin. (I think I had a go once in my youth and it just sat in my pores 😿)

I can see that the HG is different though.

I’d love to give that palette a go, but at £81 with discount it might be an expensive mistake.

I guess HG are covering themselves with regards to not using the palettes in the eye area.

IlovePond · 11/09/2025 18:34

At M&S there is a GWP on EL which stacks with the 20% discount some people have on their Sparks card.

JoRaRaRa · 11/09/2025 18:36

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but this looks like it could be this year's beauty vault from Look Fantastic, what's everyone's thoughts?

Looks good. Can only make out some of the products. One of them looks like a Foreo Bear Mini. Not sure this one will be for me (depending what the products I can't make out are) but I'm sure it will be popular.

There’s an Hourglass counter in Liberty, did you visit the other day? They’re really great for showing you how to apply it. They’re gave me a little card with highlighter in different colours for each part of the face and numbered as per the pans. Fool-proof! They also recommend the best palette for you.

First time I bought one, I went to a London Space NK and they were great at advising which one to go for.

Yeah it's uploaded quite blurry. I'll try to list what I can see:
Top section left to right
Aromatherapy Associates pump (left)
SDJ Brazilian body wash
Make up forever product
Medik8 (white rectangle box in front of color wow bottle)
Color wow product
Stylpro microcurrent thing
Anastasia bev hills product

Bottle L to r
Purple box, unsure of brand
Zelens product
Gold box
Reincarnation mask
Rituals
Mz skin face mask

IlovePond · 11/09/2025 19:04

@BakeOffRewatch - I didn’t think to go to Hourglass in Liberty. The concession in my nearest JL is pretty useless. If I go back to Liberty I will pay it a visit - thanks x

IlovePond · 11/09/2025 20:03

Finally - thanks @LouScot

M&S is definitely not for me this year - cheap looking hair claw, gua sha, comb - Colour Wow and Percy - again and I don’t use them!

Weleda - won’t be buying any of their products again since finding out about their history 🙀

I already have that Benetint in my DIY calendar and am surrounded by unused mascara!

I skipped last year’s because I didn’t rate it, but this is far worse imo.

JoRaRaRa · 11/09/2025 20:10

Thank you @LouScot

I don't think I will be going for the m&s calendar after all 😕 the contents are disappointing and I'm sure it's more money this year.

I also don't think I like the look fantastic beauty vault, if that's what it is. I would've happily had bought the 2024 one this year. Still gutted I missed out last year.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 11/09/2025 21:15

I’ve ordered teenage DD the LookFantastic advent, her first beauty AC, and it’s dispatching 🥰 I know she will be thrilled and it’s going to be hard to keep it a secret, so I’m telling all of you.

LouScot · 11/09/2025 21:15

@IlovePond I know, I was really quite disturbed reading about Weleda's history. Fair enough they're not trying to cover things up (I think!) but it feels wrong.

I'm disappointed with the M&S calendar, I hoped it'd be really wow after their troubles this year but nope.

Isabelle70 · 11/09/2025 22:31

I was in Liberty this weekend and looked for the new Hourglass palettes but they didn’t have them.
