Does anyone else hardly wear shoes anymore?

I wear boots all 'winter' (about 9 months of the year), trainers year round, then sandals, flip flops, crocs in the summer.

I cant remember when I last bought a pair of shoes.....well I can I bought some expensive loafers but they felt very heavy an uncomfortable and have been worn once in 3 years.

I only own trainers (85% of the time I wear these) sandals and boots

EnjoythemoneyJane · 21/07/2025 20:57

Nope. Got rid of almost my entire lifetime collection this year, mainly high heels and boots. I’m semi-retired, increasingly antisocial - or maybe ‘socially selective’ 😂 - and I just can’t imagine ever wearing any of them again, even though I was once fanatical about shoes.

I kept one beautiful pair of vintage Gucci heels ‘just in case’ and have realised I don’t want to wear them even though I have an appropriate occasion coming up, so they need to go too.

I now have a few pairs of trainers & ankle boots, a few pairs of flat sandals, couple of Birkies and flip flops. I just cba with even the slightest possibility of being uncomfortable these days and would rather be barefoot than anything else.

I love my shoes and can't imagine ever giving them up. Admittedly I don't have any stilettos these days but all my shoes have heels as do most of my ankle boots. I'm in sandals all summer but they have heels too! I'm not short so it's not for extra height, I just love how they look and I find them comfortable (I only wear well made shoes).

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 21/07/2025 21:19

I do. I wear, in order, trainers, sandals and occasionally brogues. Also occasionally boots, although not last year.

Boots and sandals and trainers are shoes, no?

No shoes are shoes, sandals are sandals and boots are boots - arguably trainers are running shoes

KateMiskin · 21/07/2025 21:43

Yes, I havs been told off upthread! Got it now.

emmetgirl · 21/07/2025 21:45

Trainers/boots/sandals here.
I’ve given up trying to find a pair of shoes that don’t hurt.

Boots all winter, flip flops all summer, trainers as and when. I have one pair of ballet flats I've worn a couple of times in a couple of years..No heels since before Covid.

My boots have sturdy heels or are platforms - but they are very light weight and incredibly comfortable - even my trainers are flatforms - as I am a short arse.

This is me.

Last time I wore actual shoes was May 2024, and the time before that , April 2023. That was a wedding and a funeral, and could have got away with trainers for the wedding if only I’d known!
Otherwise, it’s Birkenstocks boots, trainers, Fitflop sandals and flip flops.

user1497787065 · 21/07/2025 22:36

I seem to go from boots to flip-flops and think I must be the only person who hates trainers. I’ve tried a few different brands but think they’re all uncomfortable. Can’t wait to see the trainer and dress combo disappear.

SouthernNights59 · 21/07/2025 22:52

I have a couple of pairs, and I really don't wear them often. I mostly wear trainers and sandals now that I am retired, and even when I was working I wore ankle boots in winter and sandals in summer. I sometimes think I could do with another nice pair of shoes, then realise I just wouldn't wear them.

I wear trainers because I walk everywhere so that is the best option for my feet/legs if I am planning to be going any further than a 10 minute stroll. I certainly don't find them uncomfortable and even when the trainer and dress combo disappears you will still see me in them.

ElleintheWoods · 21/07/2025 22:55

Yes, every day, by choice. Always keep a few pairs available for options. Wear exclusively comfy heels.

I live in skirts and dresses and they just don't look great without a smart shoe, I'd not wear them with flats unless it's a casual walk etc.

In the winter I wear boots, but I like to change out of outdoor footwear when I'm not outdoors, so still got a change of shoes ready to go.

Trainers only for workouts/ walks in nature, flip-flops/ sandals for pool or beach, comfy soft slippers for home.

mamagogo1 · 21/07/2025 22:56

Wore them today - ballet flats, wear loafers a lot in winter - yes I’m lazy and these don’t require laces. Have various boots and trainers plus sandals but also heeled shoes too

I wear trainers or converse the vast majority of the time. But, I have a few pairs of DM shoes, some nice loafers and some ballet / Mary Jane’s. I do wear them semi-regularly. I adore shoes / footwear!

humptydumptyfelloff · 21/07/2025 23:10

I live in either crocs, fur lined in winter plain in spring, sliders, own multiple pairs, converse slide on pumps which rarely get worn,Ugg mules in spring or when it’s raining,Ugg boots in winter

I have some smarter heavenly feet boots for going out in winter and some smarter Ugg low wedge sandals that hurt after an hour as my feet are just used to living in flats.

if I could go barefoot everywhere I would.

as soon as I get In from work or being out my shoes come off.

I like to ground. It’s very good for you

I wear shoes. I have absolutely no trainers.

QueenofLouisiana · 21/07/2025 23:24

Work uniform is “shoes you can run in” so we all live in sketchers and trainers. Occasionally, crocs.

I recently bought nice trainers for my holidays, will need to take actual shoes for evenings maybe. Don’t think I’ll be walking far.

I wore my DMs- patent leather, shoe style up til March. That’s the last time I wore shoes.

Yep, I live in trainers (or bare feet at home). I have a VAST shoe collection that I’ve acquired over the years at significant but rarely wear any of them as my feet just aren’t used to shoes anymore. I’m trying to ease myself into wearing, er, actual shoes again but not liking it at all.

Given up on bare feet. Bloody wasps stung my big toe a week ago my whole foot and ankle swelled up. My toe is still sore.

justasking111 · 21/07/2025 23:30

I like pretty footwear. Don't have trainers, crocs or health type shoes. I can't wear heels anymore though.
