Does anyone else hardly wear shoes anymore?

I wear boots all 'winter' (about 9 months of the year), trainers year round, then sandals, flip flops, crocs in the summer.

I cant remember when I last bought a pair of shoes.....well I can I bought some expensive loafers but they felt very heavy an uncomfortable and have been worn once in 3 years.

I won’t buy anymore. I only wear trainers/boots/sandals

in fact I haven’t even worn my sandals yet and I wish I’d not bought a stupidly expensive pair in the Russell and Bromley sale

trainers all the way, look great with everything

StarCourt · 21/07/2025 17:25

I keep looking at all my shoes that i no longer wear and thinking ok should throw them out. i consistently wear Skechers Slip ins ( 3 different colours ) sliders, crocs, winter boots

Joystir59 · 21/07/2025 17:26

I wear crocs, walking boots, Chelsea boots or trainers. What are shoes?

Joystir59 · 21/07/2025 17:27

I also wear sandals

EssentialDecluttering · 21/07/2025 17:32

Me, I do have to wear them occasionally for a role that has a dress code but that's only once every couple of months. Live in trainers, boots and sandals otherwise, plus Birkenstock clogs.

KateMiskin · 21/07/2025 17:35

Boots and sandals and trainers are shoes, no?

outrageously · 21/07/2025 17:35

Yes I mainly live in trainers, sandals if its hot and boots when very cold.

I bought a pair of shoes in Spring because I liked them, and they've absolutely trashed my feet each time I've worn them. I think my feet have been softened by constant trainer wear and can no longer hack proper shoes!

HundredMilesAnHour · 21/07/2025 17:37

Yep, I live in trainers (or bare feet at home). I have a VAST shoe collection that I’ve acquired over the years at significant but rarely wear any of them as my feet just aren’t used to shoes anymore. I’m trying to ease myself into wearing, er, actual shoes again but not liking it at all.

JohnTheRevelator · 21/07/2025 17:39

I wear boots from beginning/middle of October to end of March/middle of April and sandals or trainers the rest of the year. I even wear (pink or white) trainers with dresses in summer, something which I previously thought I'd never do! Can't remember when I last bought an actual pair of shoes!

anyzee · 21/07/2025 17:43

I have two pairs put away, one black mid heel kind of court shoes - for funerals, and one pair of nude similar - for weddings or other dressy uppy occasions!

Like everyone else so far it's trainers, Skechers or similar slip ons, sandals, and ankle boots for Winter.

SoftPillow · 21/07/2025 17:45

I wear shoes. I don’t like trainers either dresses, it looks fine on others but I don’t like it for me.

I have work shoes, going out shoes, wedges, proper sandals, and of course boots, flip flops and trainers.

I have struggled with ballet flats, I know they’re back ‘in’ but I can’t find a comfy pair and they are so unsupportive.

Topseyt123 · 21/07/2025 17:50

My Skechers, Crocs and sandals ARE my shoes. 🤣 I never wear any other type of footwear as I find formal shoes very uncomfortable.

Oh, and my fluffy slippers around the house in winter, but I guess they don't count as actual shoes. 🙄

gingercat02 · 21/07/2025 18:01

I wear shoes at work everyday, we have to, NHS uniform.
I like a brogue in the spring and autumn, and I still love a heel, big or small on a proper night out. I have many shoes, sandals, boots, flip flops and trainers 👞 👠🥿👟🥾🩴👡👢

MondeoFan · 21/07/2025 18:02

Well I’m dating so have a few heels I wear most weekends, satin ballet flats, 2 trendy trainers then few pairs of sandals and one wedges. Winter would be Dr martens, heeled boots or trainers

I wear faux leather trainers with my NHS uniform....it's not like anybody can tell the difference!

I do have 1 pair of brogues that are crazy comfortable but other then that it's boots in winter and Converse in summer.

MyIvyGrows · 21/07/2025 18:10

I have some loafers and brogues to wear for work or for funerals. I am hanging onto a few pairs of nice heels in case I ever need them again, but I don’t see that happening, I’d be walking like a baby deer. My chunky-heeled sandals go with most wedding guest outfits so I’m sorted!

Boots and sandals and trainers are shoes, no?

Is that a statement or a question? Technically they are. But I believe the OP is talking about brogues/loafers/ballet flats/Mary Janes - that sort of thing. As opposed to boots, which come to the ankle or above. Or sandals with an open heel and toe. Or trainers which are a sports shoe. But I’m sure you must realise this. Or do you think the OP is walking around barefoot? That’s a question.

Laiste · 21/07/2025 18:36

I wore a pair of black suede heels to a funeral last winter.

I used to be able to run up and down stairs in sky high heels but now .... oh lord i was walking carefully!

I'm always bare foot indoors year round, flip flops and burkies in summer - boots in winter, trainers never i dont own any.

Laiste · 21/07/2025 18:37

Oh and ballet flats - in Spring.

afaloren · 21/07/2025 19:02

That’s interesting, I hadn’t really thought about that. I wear, variously, three pairs of ankle boots, one pair of lined winter boots, one pair of ‘smart’ trainers, three pairs of sports trainers, and two pairs of flip-flops.

In my wardrobe are several pairs of heels I shall not likely wear again but I like looking at them. I also found a pair of quite smart slip-ons in there when I was sorting it out and I would like to wear those more often.

Comefromaway · 21/07/2025 19:03

Nope. I’m currently wearing a pair of loafers. My black ballet flats are falling apart so o need to replace them.
I do love boots though.

SweetFancyMoses · 21/07/2025 19:05

Yes, now you mention it. I only have one pair of shoes - expensive loafers from R&B that I never wear as they slide off my heels.

Don’t think I’ve bought or worn any shoes since the 80s. Boots and trainers

youreactinglikeafunmum · 21/07/2025 19:11

Me - live and die in crocs!
